Chart House Inn goes above and beyond to make your stay magical. From the gorgeous rooms, the impeccable hospitality and the out of this world delicious breakfast you will feel taken care of. I stayed here for a bachelorette for a dear friend. We stayed on the third level where we rented all the rooms and had the floor to ourselves! It was a fun communal space. I cannot wait to come back here with my fiancé for another weekend get away. Chart House Inn is the perfect walkable distance to shops, restaurants and many of the sights in Newport. This was my first time visiting Rhode Island and Chart House Inn made it a fantastic experience.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Chart House Inn and Breakfast to celebrate our anniversary. The accommodations were very nice but the best part of our visit was the breakfast in the morning. Kathy is a wonderful hostess because our breakfast was delicious, and the information she shared about the Mansion tours and the surrounding area was extremely interesting. We would highly recommend this unique place for an overnight visit or an extended stay and we would definitely like to revisit them soon! P.S WE NEED THE RECIPE FOR THE OVERNIGHT OATS =) SOOOO GOOD!

Had a beautiful stay at the Chart House Inn - Margaret was such a wonderful host. My boyfriend and I came to celebrate our anniversary so we came up on Memorial Day Weekend. We were lucky to get her last queen room. She so sweetly made us chocolate covered strawberries and got us a little bottle of Prosecco to celebrate our special occasion which was such a pleasant surprise and great start to the trip! The room has private parking for a guests, air conditioning and heat. The bathroom and bathroom is spacious and quaint which really gave a nice bed and breakfast feel. Margaret also provides her guests with a nice breakfast layouts with fruit bowls, coffee, an array of breads and her delicious homemade muffins! We will definitely be staying here again once we're back in Newport.

We've been to quite a few B&Bs and we loved the hospitality, cleanliness & location of this place!…read moreLoved that they allowed guests to store some leftovers in the fridge upstairs with a microwave to heat it up later. Always fresh water available with coffee, tea, hot chocolate & some biscotti. The ONLY issues we've had with this place was we did find some 2 small hair strands in the shower, but overall, the room was still clean. Showering did make us a LITTLE uncomfortable since there wasn't any curtain or covering on top of the window in the bathroom for privacy since we could see the upstairs window of the house next door, hopefully no one was in that house while we stayed since there was construction being done on that house during the day, so I'm assuming the house was currently unoccupied but even when we ONLY had the shower lights on to shower you could still see straight out the window right at that window next door, so if there was someone home they can definitely get "a show" from our shower. Haha. So I HOPE they put a curtain on top for peace of mind for the guests, once the house next door will be occupied. (See pic of bathroom window). Also sometimes guests don't drive & have to take a train in and pack light (we won't always fit umbrellas) so when it rains... if more than just 2 umbrellas could be available for the guests in case it rains, that would be great and that would show extra care. Actually have 2 umbrellas in each room, would be even better because we thought the 2 umbrellas outside the 1st floor room were the guests' umbrellas. Aside from those little things, we'd definitely visit again and stay here, the decent pricing also made us choose this place over the other choices, by the way!

Upstairs is fantastic with a view of the water. Breakfast the final +++++ The church bells ring on the hour, slightly off key. More charming than annoying.

But in the actual terms of these kinds of accommodations, The Henry Collins Inn is a truly choice spot and one my girlfriend and I were glad to call home back in July, even if it was for less than 24 hours. Located no more than a 10-20 minute walk away from just about everything in Newport is this quaint, little spot. Honestly, the distance wasn't entirely what had me choosing this place (though it was a portion of the deciding factor). What had me with Henry was the price. While all the other hotels around Newport were asking for hundreds of dollars for one night, The Henry Collins Inn was perfectly reasonable for a Thursday evening in the summer (under $200). When booking, there was only one room available (The Master Bedroom), but this boded quite well for my lady and I as this was a perfect space in size and location. I say location because only the master bedroom has its own entrance/exit giving you the opportunity to be a little antisocial if you'd like (we liked). There are several other rooms that we didn't get to see, including a few upstairs. Beyond the beds, THCI rocks a wonderfully quaint, almost victorian, feel (something you might associate with any b&b, or at least what I think of). When entering from the front door you'll find lots of cute decor and you can also spot the kitchen. Come breakfast time you'll be treated with a wonderful continental spread that shows time and detail in setting up. Plenty of fruit, nuts, grains, cereals, peanut and regular butter, cream cheese, bagels, english muffins, toast, coffee, juice, and (apparently upon request) pie (though we're not big on this sweet so we didn't test it out). You can then take your plate of goodies outside on their tiny patio to really enjoy the morning. Ownership is probably something that should be mentioned because you'll most likely be up close with them at least upon check in and most likely for your morning meal. We only had a few interactions with the mother and daughter of the establishment, but both were very kind. I had actually reached out to Henry Collins ahead of time about the desire to check in early (if possible) and quickly heard back that it would be something they would try to make happen. Though the room wasn't entirely ready when we arrived, the GF and I were still able to get our keys and drop our bags off (really all we wanted to do so we could head out into town). Overall, The Henry Collins Inn is a great place to stay when visiting Newport. The lady and I both agreed that we would definitely stay here again, especially if we can snag the master bedroom (gotta love that own entrance!). When we were ready to depart after our only evening, there was a typewriter near the living room area that guests use as a way to express their feelings about their stay (see the pic for what we quickly wrote). Maybe we'll find something like this in the future because thanks to The Henry Collins Inn, we'll look into more bed & breakfasts for our trips.

Everything was neat as a pin, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The Jacuzzi was like getting a massage and being rocked to sleep at the same time. The included breakfast had the best cheese omelet that I have ever eaten. (Very fluffy!) This is one of the coziest, most comfortable, and most charming places that we have ever stayed, and we will certainly be back whenever we are in Newport next.

Very unimpressed and will NOT go back there…read more Cons: 1. The AC unit is our room was terrible. 1960 version type of AC and it blew all the cool air straight on to our bed in room 31 and didn't see any one to there to solve it. It made my wife sick and the type of moisture air that it was blowing out was humid type of air that didn't seem healthy. Plus it was super LOUD and would go off and on every minute. Made for an absolutely miserable experience and fortunately we were there just one night. 2. The room we had was on the third floor and the stairs were suuuuuper steep and dangerous. I am not an expert but it wouldn't surprise me if this is a violation of ADA requirements but I am not sure. 3. The tv was too small given the distance from the bed / sofa. 4. The breakfast was "ok". French toast was ok but terrible cheap syrup, and the bacon was one of the worst cheap bacon. Took one bite and said, yuck. 5. The cost for the value felt like it was super overpriced. Pros: 1. The person that checked us in was nice and the person servicing breakfast were nice.
