We came here in March with the goal of visiting Civita de Bagnoregio. We read a blog online that said that at our arrival to Stazione Orvieto we would find taxis that could takes us to Bagnoregio. Well, that was not the case because March is considered low season and the station was pretty much empty, so keep that in mind next time you visit Orvieto. With that aside, Orvieto's station has a pretty nice café/store where you can purchase souvenirs, wine and other stuff before getting your next train. They also have one ATM near the train rails where you can withdraw some cash before moving on with your trip. People here are very welcoming, but don't expect them to speak English to you. It is a very busy station as you can take trains here to go all over Europe. If you buy your tickets with a few days in advance or 1 day in advance you will get a lower price. Prices get higher as the time of travel gets closer. Everyone said be alert for scammers but I felt pretty good and safe here. There's like 5 or more different security departments here. The army, the police, and other security agencies. Over 400k people pass through here daily. The station has a moder look. If you want o see a more historic station with more Sculptures and Art, you MUST see the Milan Central Station. So far, is the best I had seen in the world. I had a tour guide give me the story of the Milan station a different it was amazing. To the right side of the Termini. There's a booth for the Bus customer service of you need the bus. I was lucky to have my hotel across the stfrom the Termini Station so I never got lost. It was a wonderful location for me. Because each time I was anywhere in Tome. I just ask anyone where the Termini station was, and everyone was giving me the directions. There are machines to buy the tickets as well as a booth with customer service agents.

Piazza dei Cinquecento is the large plaza in front of the station, containing a parking lot and bus stands, a tourist info booth. There is an extended length of ruins of an early 4th century BC Roman Servian Wall (a defensive wall encircling the earliest city boundaries) preserved just outside the station. It's viewable directly adjacent on the north edge of the street leaving the station. The design of station with floor-to-ceiling glass panels with a wave pattern allows commuters inside to admire the ruins from inside. Within the station, 29 train platforms mean plenty of train service, making Rome reachable from most major cities in Italy, and cities across Europe. The entrance hall is filled with restaurants, shops, a couple train lounges and a food court upstairs, car rental offices, post office, railway ticket office, and a tourist info desk. In the basement level has more shops including a grocery store, luggage holding service, and bathrooms. To access the platforms, you need to scan your ticket thru the turnstiles or scanned by the security attendants. The departure/arrivals locations and times are listed on the signs at the head of each platform. I purchased my tickets online in advance so only interaction was scanning my ticket which was quick and easy. Ensure you validate your ticket (green and white boxes located at the train platform) before getting on the train. I found two machines attached to the exterior wall on Platform One. Inside the station, one tv screen shows in the lobby displays arrivals and the other tv displays departures. The station is clean, simple, and efficient. The Trenitalia app is bad. There is an office but no one is available to assist with difficult-to-understand timetables. The Trenitalia website is the easiest source of information, There is parking in the front of the station for people to pickup and drop off train riders. I never saw cabs at the train station.

The entrance to Saint Peter's Square was just a few short blocks from here. As to be expected the surrounding area had a very high traffic of tourists and some pretty good restaurants ranging in prices. I even found a Jollibee nearby. Unfortunately, the fare gate was very slow in processing my credit card. One time, it even stopped working for everyone. They had to open a door to let us through.

It was a Sunday in Italy and we were completely stuck with no transport. Thomas arrived in a lovely, air-conditioned van, helped us with our bags, and immediately went out of his way to make sure we had the best possible experience. As soon as we got in the car, he told us all about Montepulciano -- the best vineyards to visit, what prices to expect, and how to get around. We hadn't booked anything, but Thomas contacted his friends and organised everything for us. He even took us to our hotel, waited patiently while we checked in, and never rushed us. He then arranged a taxi to collect us after our vineyard tour and even negotiated the price for us -- something we never asked him to do! At the vineyard, he personally walked us in and introduced us to his friends. Thomas truly saved our day and turned what could have been a stressful experience into one of the highlights of our Italian trip. He was incredibly kind, patient, generous, and genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible. If you have the option to book this service, do it!
