The service is poor and the soup was saltier than an ocean, to begin with. All the servers are high school kids. Some who know how to move and press the kitchen, most do not. We were coming home from Cleveland and jonesing for some shakes so we stopped in. We were immediately seated but waited for 15 minutes for our waitress to take our order. After my daughter ordered her shake and a drink the waitress condescendingly asked her what she wanted to eat. My husband said we weren't ordering food, to that the waitress rolled her eyes and said oh. Got our waters delivered but finished them before the shakes got to the table. Fun 50's style diner. Clean and friendly. Bustling on a Sunday afternoon. I won't over qualify the food, it is what it is. They do try to be "creative" and offer a twist on the norm for some selections. Nice family atmosphere and a good option if you have small children. But, you won't be eating particularly healthy. The staff is friendly and there are lot's of options on the menu. Just enjoy it for it's own merit. read more

This store was no exception. 10 minutes after we were seated our waitress took our order. 40 minutes later still no food has been brought out. I have no problem, waiting for a good high quality dining experience. You know the type of place with chefs trained in the best culinary schools, linen table cloths, fine wine and the finest desserts. This in not one of those places, it's a fast food burger joint. Long wait and my order was wrong. It appeared they forgot about us. I thought my three-year-old would implode. Eventually a manager noticed we hadn't been served. She didn't charge us for our drinks and we got our food rather quickly after intervened. However, the order was wrong. This place has consistently the worst service of any place imaginable. If you go in the morning when the actual adults are working it's fine. If you go around dinner time or when the high school kids are working...forget it. They take forever to serve you, forget your orders, rarely give refills, and their tables are a mess. Being a former worker and a costumer, it was not spiffy either way. As a worker, the other co workers treated me like I was worthless and a piece of poo. . Horrible service! Sat for 10 minutes before anyone took or order. Then waited for 30 minutes for our food while many other patrons received there food who came in 15 minutes after us. Manager came over after 40 minutes and asked if we had been waited on yet. Told her we order our food over 30 minutes ago. She went to talk to our waitress but never came back. The service here was very slow and sporadic. The server took forever to bring our order. Said he would bring us napkins right away and it took 5 minutes, after we got our food, to get napkins. Hands down the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant, granted it's fast food so I wasn't expecting much to begin with but this place is just flat out terrible. From the beginning we were waiting and waiting because there were only 2 servers. I felt bad for our server because she was running around like crazy trying to do everything. She was busing, seating, serving and running the food, all while the manager was busy trying to look busy and yelling across the kitchen at some guy named Trevor, who was asking for help in the back. In truth the manager was doing the bare minimum she could to look like she was working. Literally, she was walking around the dining room with two glasses in her hands to look like she was doing something. All while the place was going to crap bc they were so understaffed. We were given no menus, napkins, silverware etc. It took 15 minutes for my kids to get their shakes. The Diet Coke I ordered came out after our food and was a regular Coke and the food was cold. I literally sat around for 20 minutes after we were done eating, waiting for the bill. As we were waiting an older gentleman asked for a booth and the manager, who finally finding the time to seat people, told him very nastily, "You'll get what's available." During training, someone forgot to tell the staff that it is their job to serve. That's what they get paid for, that's what they get tipped for, that is your JOB. If you plan to dine here, make sure you have PLENTY of time because you will not be in and out in 30 minutes. If you're lucky you might get your order in the kitchen in 30 minutes. This is not a one off bad experience, every single time you go it's the same story. The servers will walk right past you again and again. I thought maybe all S&S were this bad but had the occasion to visit one in Niles and Sandusky and they had service on par with what you'd expect. Absolutely terrible service. We got here and our order was taken by Morgan. We didn't see her for 30 minutes after that. Our food was brought to us before we got our water and our milkshakes. We got our check and went up to pay and still had not gotten our milkshakes. We went up to pay the bill and were standing there for 5 minutes before being acknowledged. We paid our bill and after that we received our milkshakes. Before paying the bill we asked how much longer because its late and we didn't want to wait and she laughed at my table and I and said "I don't know." One would think she would know because she was standing in the back the whole time talking and hugging someone who also worked there neglecting us, all other tables and the people waiting to be seated. Anyway, we took our milkshakes to go and on the way home my sister said it was wrong. So I turned around to have them fix it. I told them it was wrong and they told me I was wrong. I think I can tell the difference between a cookies and cream milkshake and a fudge one. I asked if it would take another 30 minutes and was told no. But what do you know, we waited there for 25. Many of the previous reviews paint a very negative picture of this restaurant. This is no longer the case. While this location may have seen some rough times, the store is under totally new management and has a talented, dedicated staff. Please give this location a second chance. Entirely inexcusable how slow the service was here. Was told it would be a couple of minutes till we could be seated even though no one was in front of us. I pointed out the fact I could see three empty booths and we were promptly seated. Took 5-8 minutes before we first saw our waiter after we had asked another waiter to go find him. If he was busy then that's fine at least stop and give us a quick "I'll be right with you". None of the staff had any sense of actually accomplishing anything. I think a bomb could have gone off and the teenage staff would have just shrugged it off. I haven't even received my food yet and I am already writing about how much I don't like this place. It's been 25-30 minutes since ordering and I think at this point the kitchen staff is dead. Maybe they went to go find the cow to kill for my burger or grow the potatoes for our fries. I took my kids to the bathroom and we all gagged walking in. I hate this steak and shake and will never go back. Save your soul by never going here to begin with. Doing a quick edit to add that we decided at the end to get the kids some shakes for the road at the end. I sat at the table with the kids while the wife went over to the counter to order them. After getting the bill and cleaning up the plates I went up to join her with the kids. We waited for 15 minutes before finally asking for a refund on the shakes so we could just go. I went outside to load the kids into the truck. The manager was on the floor busing tables, there was a line of people backing up to try and get seated as well as people waiting to pay. No one was working the register, no one was seating anyone, the manager finally came over and raised her voice to my wife telling her that it had only been 8 minutes and the shakes were done on time as it always takes 8 minutes to make a shake then began to berate my wife for making a scene and saying she didn't see what the problem was. My wife asked for the head manager and was told he wasn't there, the manager there at the time wrote his number down, said "good luck with that" and walked off. My wife never made a scene but we sure managed to call corporate after that to file a complaint. Even another lady that left when my wife did said that if it was her dealing with the manager she would have slapped the shit out of her for being so rude and unprofessional. We ordered our food at 6pm and I told the server we were in a hurry as we had to be somewhere by 7pm. At 635pm I asked where our food was? She went to the kitchen window and asked the TWO guys standing there chatting about it. They said we're making it now. Seriously? After 35 minutes they decide to make it? I told the server we'll just pay for the drinks we're leaving. Suddenly our food was done and they asked if we'd like it to go. So it takes minutes to prepare yet by this time they waited 40 minutes to make it? I wasn't going to eat in the car but my son took his as he was starving and had a school function until 9pm which we were now late to. After another several minutes waiting at the register I just put money down and left.
