A burger place steak and shake
    Heidi M.

I went through the drive-through at steak 'n Shake. They were not really busy at all. First of all the fries were cold. Took them into exchange for hot fries. Got cold fries again we were very hungry because we were Christmas shopping by the time we realized the quality of the burgers. We were already out the parking lot and stuck in traffic so I decided to call no answer. Call for three days in a row still no answer never been so disappointed in the quality of the food

Food was decent come out fast since we were mostly the only ones there on a Saturday night. The downfall is the tables were dirty the ketchup was empty the cups for it were empty along with normal cups. The napkins were also low/ to empty. There were three employees that we could see

the health dept. should shut them down, the place is yuck!! the tables were not clean, the counter top was full of grease, fries and ketchup stains , soda machine had trash all around it, ketchup dispensers were empty, the ladies bathroom uughh i'll hold it until I get home !! they served my friends cold uncooked fries, I wish I would have read the reviews, but we were in the neighborhood, will NOT be back !!

Worst meal I've ever had, first off it took 10 minutes to order from the dumb ass new touch screen set up, after battling that, trying to find a clean table, every one of them were dirty, but we managed to find one that was not so bad, right next to the overflowing garbage cans, this place is disgusting but we're already committed to the meal, the fries were good but everything else was no good, lettuce and pickle looked like it's been setting out all day all dried out, the meat wasn't even meat, it was like burnt pieces of dried up grease if that makes any sense. I'm disgusted by this whole ordeal I will never step foot in this place again, used to be the best place to take my family never again, I'll never go to another stake and shake either please stake and shake do me a favor and go out of business

i tend to really enjoy steak and shake but this time i would say it just wasn't all that! me and one of my dear friends are currently on our way home from a road-trip and we decided that S&S sounded the best. so we go through the drive through and the atmosphere is not too warm or anything so that's pretty much my only complaint. however the food was good but not quite as good as i remember so i was a little sad about that. also i don't think the lady that took our order liked us (i'm not sure why bc we weren't weirdos or anything) so we think maybe she sabotaged my friends sandwich by putting onions on it after she asked for no tomato or onion. but we drgaf so it's chill, but it was a lot of onions.

I am in love w Steak n Shake all over again. Rewind: I fondly remember Mom taking me to SnS when i was a kid. The first one I went to - from memory - was in Peoria, the one right along the bustling IL River. Thereafter it was always at the top of my list if there was ever a choice in where to grab a bite to eat while out and about. The look and feel of the diner at once commanded my attention w its cool black and white 50's vibe. It also totally reminded me of the diner from the comic book Archie where he, Jughead and the gang went to eat when out in Riverdale. The look of the unique puck shaped burgers being smashed into a thin steakburger was a sizzling sight to see. It would also be seared into my mind and memory forever. The epically delicious steakburger, thin and crispy shoestring fries and hand dipped, old fashioned milk shakes a must w any visit. Vegetable soup another compulsory begining. Fast Forward: Late 90's - Post college and now in the workforce in Chicago. There weren't many but managed to find a few in and around the Chi-land suburbs. Oh happy nostalgia wrapped in Steak n Shake sublimeness Paying it Forward: 2000's and beyond. My Son is born and is now introduced to this timeless gem. #goodtimes#shakes#steaks(burgers)#shoestringfries#originaldiner#throwback#memories

The waitstaff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely attentive without hovering. We started with drinks: blueberry mojitos and sangria. Both were fantastic. The flavors were perfectly balanced, refreshing, and it was clear they were made with real care and attention, not just poured and sent out. For appetizers, we ordered the chips with guacamole and salsa. We weren't expecting the chips to come out hot and clearly fresh from the fryer, but wow, perfectly crisp with just the right amount of salt. The guacamole tasted fresh and clean, and the salsa had a great balance of heat and flavor without overpowering anything. I ordered the birria tacos, and they were outstanding. The meat was incredibly well seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. You can tell when food is prepared by someone who truly cares about what they're making, those kinds of flavors can't be faked. The Cobb salad was equally impressive: fresh ingredients, a perfect portion size, moist chicken, and a dressing that tied everything together beautifully. One of the nicest surprises was learning that Urban Kitchen supports the community through Meals on Wheels. It's always great to enjoy a meal knowing the restaurant gives back. The only downside? We live six hours away. That said, we will absolutely be back the next time we're in the area. Highly recommend!

Dark beadboard walls, copper ceiling tiles, round orb lighting, and upstairs a cavernous space with soaring ceilings anchored by a stunning skylight. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the area. Date night approved. One gripe before we get to the good stuff: if you have pages and pages of creative cocktails and an extensive wine list, your two mocktail options deserve the same love. We don't drink and the options were fine but very sour and clearly an afterthought. Do better for the sober and sober curious crowd. Now the food. The burrata was creamy, rich, and gorgeous sitting in olive oil topped with chimichurri and grilled bread. Needed more balsamic to bring the acid balance home, but honestly still one of the better burratas I've had locally. The stuffed pork with gouda, chimichurri, and saffron potato wedges was a genuinely smart plate. The saffron wedges were a surprise standout, bringing a clean earthiness that cut through the richness beautifully. A touch heavy on the gouda and the whole dish woke up considerably with a little extra salt, but the bones of it are excellent. The churrasco hanger steak told the same story. Well cooked, flavorful, chimichurri doing its job. The curly fries were the one shrug of the night. Not bad, just boring next to everything else on offer. Mike our server closed the deal by steering us toward the caramel skillet cookie and honestly, bless him for it. Warm, salty, sweet, rich, topped with cold vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It is everything a skillet cookie should be and we scraped the pan. We are already planning the return visit and bringing friends. Barrel & Vine is an unexpected dining experience that Plainfield is lucky to have.

I am mad at myself for forgetting our female server's name but we were served on Dec 17 around noon. She was a great server. Brother ordered mozzarella sticks which came out right away and were very tasty, served in a cute little cone server. Mother got four sliders off the appetizer menu although it was way too much food. We tried to order the kids portion of sliders but the server told us the restaurant would not allow adults to order kids menu items as their meal. The two sliders went to waste unfortunately. I got the grilled fish tacos but was a bit underwhelmed with the thinness of the fish. A bit rubbery. I ate one whole taco and tried to eat the filling out of the rest. My brother enjoyed his meal which was the Anthony's Favorite Gyros. I would come back again if I was in the area as the service was friendly and they had a very good selection.

Obviously they have a crap ton of memorabilia. The menu is pretty expected and filled with classic greasy fried things. A pretty average looking place to be honest. It's almost as if this building used to be a chain like Applebee's or something. There's not a lot of charm, just loud TVs and yelling. Only a bit busy coming in. We were able to find bar seats. Has lots of great specials going on. It's $5.50 to get Jameson on Saturdays. As for the food menu it's pretty meaty. It's $11 for Hot Soft Pretzels. A lot of the rest of it is stuff like burgers. There's also pastas and pizzas. Seems like everything gets meat on it. The other stuff is pretty greasy as we saw on the other plates. For sure it's a great place for watching sports and other types of games. It's located by the Louis Joliet Mall so you can eat here after you go there. The area as far as restaurants is sucking and this is one of the better options for family, friends, or for whoever.
