I saw Fritz's Pour House on Facebook, and was intrigued. On a Friday evening, I took my husband here to check out the food. A few folks were dining in, and the bar was full of guests. The atmosphere was that of a typical bar, not exactly quiet, but to be expected. The waitress was friendly and greeted us promptly. We ordered drinks and nachos as an appetizer. The nachos were crunchy with plenty of tasty toppings. My husband ordered their Jambalya. I've never seen anything like this. It was a pile of tomato paste (yes, it looked to just be tomato paste) mixed with some shrimp, and rice. This was taken home, well the shrimp were, the tomato paste was discarded. I ordered the Mississippi Pot Roast Dinner, which came with Steak Fries. The pot roast was tasty and well-cooked. The steak fries were tasty and not over-salted. If they had a clue how to make Jambalya, they'd have earned more than two stars. read more

I've been in Joliet for over 10 years and finally went. Why did I wait so long!! They were crowded but we got a table within 15 minutes. Our server was the best. Attentive, friendly and fast! First time here on a Friday night. Lots of specials but I asked the waitress for a suggestion. She said the fish fry was popular. I had the fried cod. It was good but a little on the smaller side. OMG the place is heaven on earth!! Their food definitely has a homemade culinary feel. We started with their gigantic cheese sticks served with a very tasty, chunky marinara sauce. I usually do ranch but after trying their marinara I didn't go back! Fantastic! The outer was a crisp yummy batter. I got their corned beef Reuben (but left off the sauerkraut - not my thing) the outside was buttery grilled bread with Swiss cheese and thousand island. The corned beef was for real- freshly cut, not the lunchmeat junk. Hubby had chili which he really liked as well. We took home some dessert for later- a bread pudding and a carrot cake. Which had to be the best I've ever had! Seriously yummy! Next time I'll get their limoncello cake- I was torn. Again I kept humming the song from Cheers because that is how this little bar felt. Their food did not match the persona. Their menu is definitely not your typical "bar food" maybe the cook was a chef?? Our waitress was cute and very nice. They had specials on drinks. We showed up at prime time on Valentine's Day and we waited only maybe 20 minutes for a table, the manager got me a drink while we waited. He and the hostess were super friendly. We watched other people leave, sucks to be them for being impatient. We had two apps, their steak bites need to be a permanent appetizer. Their homemade tzatziki sauce was the best I've ever had. Our waitress was great and funny. Calamari was excellent, not chewy at all. Main dishes were amazing, love that you can pick your sides with a wide array of choices. My wife and I stopped in here last night. The food was sooooo good and the service was amazing. A neighborhood bar with great food. We had several appetizers and they were amazing.. my wife had the surf and turf, a ribeye and sautéed shrimp. The steak was perfect and the shrimp were delicious. I had the beef Wellington. My husband and I went to Fritz's Pour House the other night. I have been there before several times with my friends and the food was very good. But I was shocked and appalled at the amount of money that Fritz's feels they can charge for Beef Wellington and a ribeye steak that is not a bone-in! The Beef Wellington was $77!! The ribeye was $40, with $20 worth of drinks, tax & tip it was $160!! On Easter we went to Fogo de Chao and only spent $160 with a bottle of wine and 2 person dinner. WTH....Fritz. Beef Wellington should be around $40/45. Your in Joliet not OakBrook. Very disappointed!!! read more

I've had the lobster roll a couple of months ago that had no flavor and the roll was hard. My second visit I ordered the poor boy and it had no flavor and the meat had an off putting flavor, and I asked for additional garlic to give it flavor and received this weird cup of yellow stuff that had a faint garlic taste. Between 3-4 pm a few regulars come in to watch their shows. I can certainly respect that, but the TV's were so loud that the 30 other people had to listen to it and even the workers can't stand it. Their specials were not communicated. Those should be on the table or fully communicated when we sat down. Great mozzarella sticks, frog legs were decent. The server was very good, but super busy with not much help. We appreciated her. The place has great potential, but needs some tweaking.
