Starting at 9am on the dot the store lead would yell into the microphone "we closing in an hour to all y'all sitting and eating." This repeated every 5 minutes for the rest of the night. 10minutes before close it change to every minute. Staff openly made fun of people for their orders. I drive for Doordash and this place is TERRIBLE for dashers to pick up from. I was there for over 30 minutes waiting on an order. I asked multiple employees 5 separate times for an eta and no one even attempted to give me one. They finally got the food out, but I had to wait another 10-15 minutes for the shake for the order. I could tell the communication in their workplace was horrid and they push doordash orders to last priority even over customers that had gotten there and ordered more than 15 minutes after I had arrived. The woman who I believe was the shift manager was very rude to me and the other folks that were waiting on pickup orders. Great experience here tonight. Emily on drive-through took my order and in a flash I had my combo meal. Fresh single burger, crispy fries, and icy cold Diet Coke. Great service from Emily. I'm in Steak 'n Shake more often than I thought I would be. I originally saw it as a nice diner with a cool retro feel for my boys to enjoy. Especially since they have an awesome selection of shakes that are available at half-price during their Happy Hour (2a-5a and 2p-5p). My boys loved it. So much so that whenever they got to choose their restaurant for birthday celebration, Steak 'n Shake came in the same breath as Hometown Buffet (every kid loves that place, but since they're all gone...). Before I knew it, we were saving those mailer coupons and letting the boys decide what to order for our weekend 1-on-1 lunches with each son. Also, with this location being in the same parking lot as Marcus theater, it was a great place to hangout before or after a good movie. If you're a shake lover, you'll go nuts in this place. They have Classic Shakes (Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Banana, Orange Freeze, etc.), Specialty Shakes (Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, Oreos Cookies and Cream, Peanut Butter Cup, Birthday Cake, etc.) and, my kids' favorites, Side-By-Side Shakes (two flavors, taking up different sides of the glass/container. The burgers are delicious and of wide-variety. My two favorites are the Patty Melt, and the Triple Steakburger with Cheese. I'm also a big fan of their Chili Cheese Footlong. They have shoestring fries which are decent, but I often choose their chili as a substitute, which I find to be VERY good. Being open 24-hours, you can enjoy a good breakfast from 6a - 11a which several items in addition to their bacon, eggs and hash browns. I've had their all-you-can eat pancakes which is another good reason to take the kids. They surprisingly offer a drive-through, which I thought would be a long wait, but really isn't. Definitely check them out if your'e looking for good meat on your sandwiches, hot off the grill at decent prices. Nearly post-covid, Steak 'n Shake lives, and there is no finer shake, burger, or fries. It is just as well we don't live nearby as we'd be here too often, but it's always wonderful to come back. This location, and maybe all Steak 'n Shakes, are now take-out or dine in, but without table service. The sound of the shake glasses and cutlery is now a dull sounds of styrofoam and plastic cutlery. The familiar sight of black and white china, curious pepper sauce, and glossy ketchup bottles are missed, but at least the food is still comforting as ever. And quickly consumed as ever! There are no hosts or staff to take your order and bring menus and crayons, having been replaced by DIY order kiosks, but the upside is that the time is took me to order and was about the same as the food wait time. 3 stars to Steak 'n Shake for cost cutting (is there any burger chain where reminiscence is as important?), but five stars to this location for quick order time and friendly staff at pickup. This trip was interesting as I was alone and decided to sit at the bar. I witnessed some cleaning of the coolers under the stove top and was a bit shocked to see how dirty they were and food was being actively stored inside of them. I watched as one of the employees was scooping old food out and when they got the nod from the cook to put stuff back in it still wasn't clean. I normally can expect some level of mess within these quick restaurants with a high food output turnover rate but the cleanliness should be the top priority. !!!BEWARE OF THE DRIVE-THRU PAVEMENT!!! Went to this location a few months back. There is a part of the drive through lane where the pavement is uneven. As I was turning in the drive lane this part of the pavement popped my tire. Ran through corporate process for a claim, and got denied. No further review, no physical or visual inspection by their claims department, not even a free meal. I know I cannot be the only who has had their tire popped at this location. After almost 20 years as a customer, I will never be returning to Steak 'n Shake again after this experience with their claims department. There typically isn't much of a wait time for a table, if there is it's during a busy time i.e. Friday nights. The food is served fresh and up to par, it just takes forever to get out. The to-go orders aren't much better. The restaurant itself is usually not the cleanest. The staff at night is especially slow and not attentive. Good deal that kids eat free all weekend, the rest mediocre. The staff not the greatest and asked us if we wanted shakes about 5 times, and I am just not a fan of mixing creamy shakes with fatty foods (must be the european part of me) I had one of each of the shooters and a side salad which is pretty useless at a fast food place and a waste of money. the shooters were ok, tiny and 10 cent extra for cheese on each one doesn't really make it a good deal if you think you are paying 99 cent for one bite of burger, then I'd rather go to McDonalds anyday. The fries and onion rings also not fresh, seasoned or anything worth getting. My husband had the western BBQ Bacon Burger and my son the kids meal with chicken nuggets and nothing blew us away. At 5am on a Wednesday morning... there was no truck in sight and there was a grouping of people out front with their doors open and we're hanging out. Get your act together. If you don't want to work then don't work. For there not being many places open late this one always seems to not want to take orders late. First let me say that this review is NOT about their food. Overall the food was good, hot and tasty. This review is about the employees - HORRIBLE! Not one of them knows how to smile, the manager being the worst offender. All seemed to be related to a turtle or snail because they all seem to move in slow motion. The manager obviously does not know how to make a schedule as there were not enough staff on Father's Day Sunday! The dining room was dirty...no strike that...FILTHY! When we checked out the team member did not say ANYTHING to us. He reached out and took my check, opened his hand for the money, gave me my change and walked away. Not only did he not thank me, he didn't look at me - and I know what you are thinking - no he was not deaf or mute...because he turned to talk to another staff member. Management at this location needs to be replaced as do most of the team members - hire some people that enjoy their jobs and enjoy customer service! UPDATE 6/22/12 - I complained to Steak N Shake Corp Offices. I received an email thank you for the information and also a call from the Manager of this location. First off, let me say that the employees here give really great customer service. My husband & I stopped in the drive thru & mid-way, my car battery died. I came inside and there was a nice gentleman (I didn't get his name, but he was wearing a red shirt) that gave my car a Jump. There was another gentleman (didn't get his name either) that came and helped my husband move the car out of the way.
