The location in my area is quite run down, I'm surprised they even revived it after the closings during the first year of the pandemic. Now that it's open they developed a plan that works for this season of distress. The drive through was closed so you had to go inside to order. Clean and quiet, near the counter were a few new, large screen, kiosks with LED screens with clear product identification that operate like any iPad. With only 2 people in the dining area and a woman in front of us waiting on her order, we made our way to a kiosk to order. 3 shakes and 2 double steakburgers. We were only seated for a very short time before our number was called. Maybe 3 minutes!?! I'd say this location has stellar service and tasty products. Though I didn't order anything myself it smelled awfully good and one of my grandkids kept repeating herself as to how delicious it was. Yeah, I still go to this neighborhood SnS from time to time but after few outright bad and mediocre meals the only thing that gets me in the doors now is the steady flow of coupons mailed out almost weekly. Still this location puts out some really tasty burger combinations and is still the star of this chain. I stopped by the other evening and tried one their seasonal Octoberfest cheeseburgers; a double steakburger, Swiss cheese, shaved ham and mustard onions on a pretzel style bun. One big messy good burger paired up with a order of their shoestring fries. Although my meal was delivered quickly overall service was lacking from the time I entered and waited to be seated which quickly became obvious to me that it was server shift change time. Once my server returned from her break the rest of the meal went smoothly but I never saw the manager set one step out of the kitchen during my visit. While SnS is still one of my favourite fast food burger choices the service and food quality of this location has gone down from my earlier review. I love Steak 'n Shake more than I should. We love it because we can get two good size meals for $8. Not bad at all! Favorites are the garlic burger and the classic double. Okay...so from what I see on Yelp, Steak 'n Shake can be iffy in some areas. Not sure why, but apparently there are issues. However, last night.....or early this morning 1:30 AM, we stopped at this location. We were seating rather quickly and had a great server. I believe her name was Mahkayla (not positive on spelling, but it was a unique spelling of that name). She was awesome. Everything was at our table quickly, we were checked on regularly, and the food was great and cooked perfectly. Yeah..it's a chain, but obviously someone takes pride in their work at this location and I want to send a thanks and a 5 star review to this location and our server, Mahkayla (sp). Tried calling the store whike they were closed, someone picked up the phone and hung up. Called the next day to get a refund for what I was charged, was told I would have to come into the store to fix the situation, the person I spoke with was of no assistance and did not apologize. It was not until I asked for the corporate number that the person put the manager on the phone. Manager offered to contact corporate and call back. Generally poor service at this location when dinning inside. I do not purchase soda's when dinning in as no one ever offers refills. This Steak 'n Shake infuriates me, I go into work between 5-6am and there are only two choices of fast food open at that hour in the area. I never stop for breakfast if I work at 5am however when I go in at 6 I will stop. This morning I go to the drive thru at 5:20 and tried to order French toast sticks and I was told breakfast starts at 6, so I asked " there's no way you can make them?" He says "no, its company policy". I said that's "bullshit". I've been served breakfast prior to 6am at that location in the past, I had to wait a few extra mins for it however that was okay. Steak 'n Shake is a wonderful casual restaurant that has been the home of many meet-ups with my friends. Their menu has variety, but not so much that their lineup seems convoluted. The things that they prioritize are great. Although it may not look as good as it does in promotional footage/images, the final product, whether it be a burger, chicken fingers, a salad, or any other meal on their menu always comes out presentable and delectable. Their burgers have this unique taste that sets them apart from the rest, and I absolutely adore it. Steak n' Shake is also an absolute monster when it comes to their milkshakes. They are so wonderful, and are absolutely massive. I've yet to try out their breakfast menu, but I'm sure it's also good. Steak 'n Shake is a great restaurant that I highly recommend going to if you're looking for a slight step up from usual fast food. read more

The staff here is great! I generally come on Sundays after church with a big group and we are always taken great care of. The orders are out in a good amount of time and correct, and we can pay the bill at the front individually by seats. It's great that we don't have to worry about dividing up checks and potentially fixing things that were wrong. Nope, we just go up to the front cashier, say I'm paying for seats 2 and 3 and done!
