This was our 2nd here with both outings being the same. The food is good but the service is terrible and slow it almost outweighs the food. On both occasions I've had to repeat my order several times to ensure it's right which isn't a huge deal which wouldn't be a huge deal, if it was right.... I don't ask for much but both instances I've asked for sauces that haven't been put in the bag, I ask for light ice to only be ignored, and today we upsized our fries to the large and they were half filled. On top of that they had our order confused and we had to give them back the things they handed us because we noticed it was wrong. All that on top of taking 10+ minutes with no line... Stopped in for a quick bite with the family. We ordered for 5 people of which 3 items were screwed up. I took them up to ask and have them fixed and they couldnt figure it out so they asked me to write the needed corrections on a sticky note for each order. I did this and the orders were returned and two were still wrong. The fries were cold and items that came with condiments half were in the tray not actually on the burger. I was so excited when I ordered a burger meal with a pickles, lettuce, and onions. Unfortunately for me, when my meal came out it was evident that my drink was missing so i had to go back to the counter to ask for one. Then once I finally sat down and was ready to eat, i opened up my burger and took a bite to find that NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT THREEEEE items were missing from my burger. There wasn't a pickle, onion, or piece of lettuce anywhere to be found. I took the catastrophe up to the counter and asked if they could fix it, 5 minutes later they handed me a new bag with fries, a drink, and a burger in it. You might think this is where the story ends. NOPE. This time I immediately notice that they forgot the sauce that they charged a whole 50 cents for, then i opened the burger box one more time. You would not believe what laid before me, They gave me a lettuce salad in the middle of THE SAME DAMN BURGER I GAVE BACK TO THEM AT THE COUNTER. This burger still had the same bite i took from before, but this time there was 3 of the biggest slices of lettuce I've seen in my life, a couple of onions, and you guessed it, NO PICKLES STILL. I was so excited to finally try this place after moving here, but left more disappointed than every girl that I bring back to my place. I recently visited Steak 'n Shake and tried their Double Bacon Cheeseburger Honestly, I was a bit surprised at how small it was honestly about the size of a regular cheeseburger from McDonald's, not what I was expecting from a "double" burger! If you're coming in hungry and want a big, hearty burger, this might not hit the spot. On the bright side, the French fries was okay, crispy, hot, and tasty. They definitely made up for the burger's size a bit. Overall, if you're looking for a quick bite and love good fries, Steak 'n Shake is worth a try, but don't expect a huge burger! The service is very slow and the restaurant look decent. I do not think this a good place to come with family since it is very pricey. The entrance to the restaurant not great. read more

It's been a long time since I've been to a Steak 'n Shake, so I was looking forward to this one opening in Morgantown. What a disappointment. The food was ordinary, there was no service. Every one I've ever been to -- admittedly a long time ago -- had table service but this was totally self serve, with kiosks to order and then wait for your number to be called to go pick it up. While waiting, I couldn't help but notice the trash on the floor in the kitchen -- fries on the floor, fry serving containers pushed up under some of the equipment, the dining area floor was tracked up on this sunny day, no napkins in any of the containers. Just an extra pleasant experience all around. The only reason this is a "maybe" instead of no is because it's only been open about 10 days and Morgantown is notorious for descending en masse on new restaurants so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now -- and wait several weeks before returning. read more

Took more than 20 minutes to get through the drive thru, even though only 3 cars were ahead in line. Vast majority of the time was spent waiting for someone to acknowledge us over the speaker, only to give us "more time to look at the menu." When we finally got to the window and paid for our meal, the staff were milling around with zero urgency to give us the food. Saw the person handling the window on her phone and standing around with her hands in her pockets during rush hour. They should straighten up or get paid more so they'll care about their job. Also the drive thru is so narrow, we nearly scraped the car against the wall or another vehicle multiple times. Chicken tenders and shakes were good though. read more

I ordered a single cheeseburger burger with onion and lettuce. I received a burger with barely any meat on it, no cheese at all, 3 small rings on onion, and ketchup. When i got the receipt before i got the food I noticed it said add ketchup so I asked the drive thru person to not put ketchup on it and she said that it was already made as she handed me the bag. Food was good, milkshakes were outstanding. Only downfall is when it's super busy the double line that wraps around the building gets pretty chaotic. If you aren't careful you risk curb rashing your rims or hitting someone if you have anything bigger then a small suv. Rush hours are around noon and 5-6. If you are wanting something rather small I'd suggest waiting. Waited 1hr 30 min to order at the drive thru And another 10 min to get our order. First off, you call yourself fast food and yet every car is waiting over an HOUR to get their orders. Once we finally arrived at the spot to order the woman (Ella) was beyond rude and impatient with our order; she even forgot half the order. To top all this off, it is safe to say the food is more than disappointing. The burger was crunchy, the chilly Mac isn't even Mac n cheese... it's spaghetti (and it's disgusting). Profoundly disappointed in this icon franchise. Lot was extremely small, dining room was filthy with dried food on booth seats, trash on floor and in booth. Floors were dirty and tables had not been wiped off. Not to mention the iconic steak burger tasted like soybean burger. I'm surprised they were able to get a franchise for that location.
