We ordered 2 frisco melts, 2 waters, 1 chilimac 5 way, and a classic dark chocolate shake. First off, no shake came until we were finished with the food we actually did get, my husband was hungry so he ordered the sandwich and chilimac, but we weren't told until we actually got the sandwiches that they were "out of noodles". It was quite a wait for the sandwiches, and they weren't piping hot like you would expect for a "made to order" food. The shake came ten minutes AFTER our meal was done, no refill of water ever came. We had to ASK the charge for the chilimac that wasn't served be taken off the bill. I asked for a go-cup for my shake, and I was done with it when the cup (filled with ice water) finally came. What sucks is that when a trucker finally does get a break from the road to eat, many times when they don't encounter horrible choices/Ill prepared food, they get ridiculously bad service. We went through the drive-through on Friday, December 10, 2021 around 4:00 p.m. and waited over 15 minutes for 2 milkshakes. While we waited at the window, at least 3 employees and a manager ignored us while we were at the window. Finally, after 10 minutes an employee came to the window and asked what we ordered. We told her that our order was a chocolate, chocolate Reese's peanut butter cup shake and an Oreo cookies and cream shake The order was not filled and apparently not in the system. After an additional 5 minutes of waiting, we finally got our order! The chocolate, chocolate peanut butter shake was vanilla ice-cream, NO chocolate, with a few sprinkles of peanut butter on top and the cookies and cream was made the same way but with a sprinkle of cookies. Surprisingly, the restaurant is fairly clean for a gas station connection. The service was also faster and friendlier than I was expecting. I love this restaurant brand but I am mixed concerning this restaurant. First of all, please allow me to say that I am HUGE on customer service. I can accept so-so food but if there is excellent customer service I can look past the food experience, most of the time. But, at this place I have yet to see any manager doing any type of walkthrough. Do they care about customer opinion and visibility? They should. The waitresses should take more pride in their job. It always takes a minute or so to be "recognized" and acknowledged. And then the waitress grabbed a couple menus and proceeded to the table and expected me to realize she was seating me. She gave the look over her shoulder that said, "Are you watching?" The food was great as always but the customer serve.....meh. I also realize that the front of the house staff needs to accomplish napkin refilling, silverware prep, and other tasks. Sometimes this has to be accomplished at an unused table. But, when you are completing these tasks you should not be on your phone and doing other things in front of customers. It simply gives your store a bad presence, at least to me. Ok, so it's a burger place ! I don't usually frequent fast food establishments, but I was traveling with 2 of the male species so I knew this would make them happy. However, I was very happy as well. We ate at this Steak & Shake Monday evening, hoping for a quick dinner. Didn't happen. We were seated near the kitchen, where the kitchen staff were never in a hurry to turn off the loud, beeping fryer, and the decibel level was painfully high. The wait staff were not only inattentive, our server could not even get our order right, which means the kitchen staff dished us up the wrong thing. We ate it because we had waited for at least half an hour, even though the place was almost empty, and we were not willing to try to get the right order, because we might have been there until bedtime. Our server never, and I mean NEVER, checked to see if everything was all right or if we needed refills of our drinks, which we did. Egg on burger! Yep, the hubby and I had the Royal Steak burgers for breakfast! Normally I would hesitate to have a burger for breakfast but when I saw they had one with a fried egg I threw all caution to the wind! Soooo good!! I was just reminiscing last week about a burger back in Portland OR that had a egg on it and there it was on the menu...it was meant to be! It comes with two patties( they are thin, so more like one patty but it works), cheese, lettuce, a decent tomato slice, and a glob of mayo which I scraped off. I like some mustard and a little ketchup on my burgers. I'm a onion ring person so I had them instead of those tiny little french fries that they have. I have had a shake in the past and it was good, I don't make a habit of that those they are a treat. Hubby has had the guacamole steak burger and liked it a lot. They do have a lot of other menu items for breakfast. I looked at menu online and not a lot of vegetarian options but I saw potato & egg breakfast taco, add some cheese, could be good & only .99. First off, I love Steak n Shake........just not this location. We placed 3 separate orders. 2 of the 3 were wrong! The bread on my hamburger was stale and was falling apart as I tried to eat it. They forgot my fries....and I had to go back and ask for them. Another order was missing the order of cheese fries and the chili was a greasy mess. The restaurant is located in a gas station/truck stop along with a subway. It is also not in the most safe area. In addition, It's is not clean and the service is sub-par, to say the least.
