So we arrive the place is open 24 hrs/day so you would think they would make sure an adequate stock of food. We ordered a grilled chicken salad and they brought it out and the waitress said "we were out of a lot of the salad items we did the best we could" Then she said it will be on the house and offered a free shake. The salad was awful chicken cold I sent it back. Then we ordered the milk shake and apparently they ran out of ice cream and nuts which were missing. The ice cream was more like ice milk. You other wonder what is happening to the brand. The food is ok. That is when you finally get and if it's right. That's the big issue of its right. It can be repeated back to you several times and even said at the window your order but, seems the line cooks forget to read the screen. Quality control at not only this one but, it seems majority of Steak n' Shakes have taken a towards turn. This is one them. Shame really was one of the better ones. After reading all the reviews about this steak and shake, I can surly say that there all true. My server was some young black girl that quite frankly didn't give a crap about anything. It took awhile for her to come over and take my order. I have been to others that were better, but it's what you have to expect when going into these steak and shakes. I know they don't make a lot of money on the tips and then sharing that with the busboys. You have to take it with a grain of salt and just enjoy the food while your there. DO NOT COME HERE. Had to wait. Over 30 min for drinks then they did not refill them. Ordered at the same time I had ordered my drinks and it has been over an hour for my food and still nothing. I will not come back to this restaurant EVER!!!!! A shame because I loved stake and shake. read more

Went to eat with my family if 5. Seemed disorganized when we got there. Fries and burger were not warm. Meal not bad other than that. After meal tried to order ice cream. Waitress never came back so I stood in line to pay and order ice cream from the front counter. We were passing through traveling into Florida from Massachusetts and Steak 'n Shake is our favorite so we were excited that there was one in the same location as the Pilot so that we could get gas and grab something to eat. We got to the drive thru and the woman taking our order was SO rude. Regardless, we drove up to the window. She took our money and we waited at least 10 minutes for our food. After getting our food we sat around for almost another 10 mins waiting for shakes. The woman who took our order had since left, I'm assuming her shift was over and the boy who handed us our food came back to the window confused. We told him we were waiting for shakes. While this was going on, someone in the drive thru was waiting to order around the same amount of time and no one took his order so he left. We got our shakes finally and left. The food and shakes were mediocre, tasteless. But, the boy who helped us was pleasant. I'm sure no one told him we were still waiting. I wish I would have also read the previous reviews and star ratings before stopping there. I would have waited another hour if I would have known it was going to be like that. read more

I give the the rating of two because first of all I order a meal around 12am not knowing that their "systems reboot" around that time. I waited for a totally of 15 minutes for my food. I bought chicken tenders and fries etc. when I received my food both order of fries were cold as ice and I didn't receive in sauce for my tenders even though I reminded the employee three times to give me double honey mustard. Worst service I ever had. Waited for 10 minutes to be seated. Waitress didn't even take us to the table. She just pointed and said sit at that table. Only gave us three menus for eight people. Left for 20 minutes before taking out drink or meal orders even though she was taking orders for people who came in after us. Only came to the table because she saw me walking up to the register to complain. We had to pass out our own drinks and plates. Stopped by to get half price milk shakes today. Walked right up to register and ordered--no line at that time. Waited almost 20 minutes to get the first one and then my husband had to go up to a server and ask where his was. Server had made it in about 1 minute. Wow- traveling and stopped here to grab a quick dinner. What a joke! It took almost 30 minutes to even get our food. They asked my husband if he wanted onion rings out of a bag they found but they were stuck together. Told her just bring fries then-not a big deal. BUT after waiting so long (restaurant was nearly empty) for our food my turkey club came out with nearly frozen turkey on it and my fries came with a side of nasty hair. As I waited for my ticket to be adjusted, the lady flipping burgers was flapping around hollering she must of put hair on somebody's turkey sandwich. In the most unbecoming manner I might add. This was honestly THE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! When we arrived we had to pay before we even got the food, and don't get me started that there was only TWO workers working. The cook messed up EVERY order there. The cashier/waiter made you go to the cash register instead of sitting down. Then she took 10 minutes to write down ONE ORDER! Terrible absolutely terrible. The terrorists in Guantanamo Bay don't even deserve this bad of service. I wanted a simple pick up order for my pregnant wife and daughter. I called two times and they never picked the phone up, third time was a charm. The fellow answered and said please hold for a minute, and promptly hung up on me. I then tried to call back and the phone rang endlessly until it disconnected. Did this the whole 20 minute drive to get there with no answer. Over 25 minutes to get someone to answer a phone. Once I got inside there was 3 people inside, they had more employees standing around talking than customers. I finally got my order taken by some girl ashley. They deliver the to go milkshake 15 minutes before the food was ready to go. Hope the pregnant wife like strawberry milk, told them my concern what was their answer. Turned off and walked off. Worst Steak 'n shake experience of my life. Drive thru lady was very hard to talk to, felt like she didn't understand what we wanted or were saying in general. We waited in line for 15 minutes with only 2 cars ahead of us. Burgers were cold. Fries were warm but had no salt. Found an extremely hard piece of "something" in a fry. This Sn'S sucked!! They had more employees than customers and every table is dirty. We waited to be seated as 4 waitresses said I'll be right with you yet there was one clean table right in front of us that was ready to be sat. Then we waiting a good 5 minutes just to get menus, another 10 to order as every time she walked by & said I'll be right there about 15 times and they weren't even busy. This one is adjacent to a gas stop so you would think they would get people in out & on their way but this was the slowest service! One guy was complaining he'd been sitting there 10 minutes with NO service, another table of 4 had a person who never got their meal by the time the other 3 were finished and the health code rating on the wall was a measly 76. Honesty the food is good, a bit greasy but this is a Steak n Shake. Milkshakes are great as well. Used to order out from this place often as we live only a few minutes away. Firstly my wife orders a milk shake and finds a small piece of metal in the bottom of it. No more milkshakes for us from this location. Last time we ordered and paid for two steakburgers online thinking "hey! Maybe the order will be ready by the time i get there." Waited 1.5 hours noting that they were extremely busy and seemingly a bit understaffed. I was as patient and understanding as i could be. I found out that my order never got put in even though it did go through. By then it was too late to go anywhere else. I did get my order finally without so much as an apology not that it mattered as I had already made up my mind to never return. read more

Couldn't get a refill to save our lives; both orders were wrong and it took forever to get seated and another forever for her to take our order. Even though they weren't busy I figured they were working out the kinks. Waited a year to return. Went to the drive through and 2 cars were in front of me. The manager was taking my order and he kept repeating it back to me wrong. 20 minutes later I made it to the pickup window. My food was sitting on the counter with my shake. I sat at the window another 10 minutes before someone took my money and it was another 10 minutes before I got my food. My shake was melted and my fries were cold. The girl said she'd just come from a break. So what? They just threw my food to sit and get cold on the counter and closed down the window while she was on break? Went back again today. 2 cars in front of me again. No problems until I get to the window. I waited 10 minutes on my food. Order was wrong and burger was cold. I will not go back to this Steak and Shake. I love the Rome and Dalton stores but the Cartersville Location sucks! read more

Worst experience ever. I pulled up to the drive thru and there were 2 cars ahead of me to place their order. They placed their order and moved to the window. I sat in my car waiting at the speaker for my order to be taken. I waited over 5 minutes and watched both cars get their food and leave. I still sat their waiting. I saw a couple employees even go up to the window and look at my vehicle waiting at the speaker. They STILL did not take my order. I drove up to the window thinking they would take my order there. Nope. They continued to walk past the window and one employee even had their Beats music headset plugged into their phone over their ears! We honked the horn in our vehicle and one employee then opened the window and just looked at us. She STILL didn't say anything! I asked if they were open and she just said "yea". I said "ok, we have waited for about 15 minutes and no one has taken our order." She slightly rolled her eyes and didn't apologize or say anything!! I'm fairly certain this was racial because the people ahead of me were black and were served fine. We were white and the employees who were black even SPEAK to us! Unbelievable! read more
