8 bone-in wings( 2 sauces extra) Left - Creamy Garlic Stallion Right- Creamy Lemon Pepper Waffle Fries
    Vicki S.

10/10 no notes Stop in before I left my hotel that's connected to the Gateway Center. The menu is plenty and I honestly wanted to try everything. Will was working at the front and I asked for a few suggestions and went with the wings. Wasn't sure which sauce I wanted so he offered 4 for me to try Creamy Garlic Stallion ( he suggested because I said I lived in NC ; mustard based) Creamy Lemon Pepper ( his current go-to) Garlic Parm Asian Chili Loved all four; went with stallion and lemon pepper 8 wings (1/2 & 1/2 sauces) with a order of waffle fries Everything was made fresh and was ready in less than 15 minutes. Fried to golden perfection and sauced just fried. Some of the best wings I have ever had. Waffles fries were perfect. Will be back and highly recommend

3 Ground Steak Sliders... pretty terrible
    Juselle D.

Im so sad to have to review a black business in a manner that isn't fitting. Maybe they just had an off day. I ordered sliders that were supposed to be ground steak sliders. They were either left out for a long time and reheated or they were heated the wrong way. Either way they are absolutely terrible. I was really looking forward to supporting this business since so many restaurants are rebuilding through the pandemic. It also needs to be stated that had I known this was on the absolute "roughest" side of town, I would have traded for another wing joint where I didn't have to pray before I get out of the car. From panhandlers to creepy people walking up to us asking for .60 cents, I was left to wonder why there weren't many warnings for this place. Unfortunately, I will NOT RETURN TO UNCLE WILLIE'S. I hope this was just an off day and that they get themselves together. I ordered from GrubHub right from my YELP app hoping it made it better. Obviously it didn't. Smh...

On the hunt for food as soon as we landed in Newark, and all signs (via Yelp) pointed to Uncle Willie's Wings! And we were not disappointed!! Uncle Willie's is your classic hole-in-the-wall feel-good eateries. Don't plan on dining in because there's only one table, so takeout is the way to go. We did have to wait a while for our order, but that gave us a chance to chat with Uncle Willie himself. Plus we all know that good food takes time. Uncle Willie is definitely good people, and has accomplished so much in being able to keep the business going in the midst of this pandemic, as well as giving back to the community. Let's talk about these wings though!! We ordered lemon pepper, garlic parm, and Asian chi, along with fries. The wings were great! Not too saucy and good flavor. The garlic parm actually had a bit of sweetness to it, which caught me off guard, but didn't mind. We could have done without the fries, but it may have been because it was to-go. Uncle Willie's offers 12 different wing flavors. They also have burgers, seafood, and a great variety of sides. The prices are fairly reasonable. Going to try to swing back by before we leave. Support black business and give Uncle Willie's a shot!

We had a craving for wings and decided to check out this place with decent ratings. It's a no-frills kind of spot in Newark. The woman manning the register was friendly and gave us some flavor recommendations. We decided to get 12 wings and the two sauces - garlic parm and bitter ex. It came with a side of waffle fries. We waited awhile for the wings, maybe 20 mins? I thought the wings were fine. Don't expect anything particularly crispy. The meat in the flats was more moist than the drummettes. I think their strong suit is the sauces. They were delicious but I expected a little more from the wings. Not that they were the most important part but the fries were not crispy either, little soggy. Not sure if I would return but I recommend trying the bitter ex sauce. Definitely has a kick!

I was visiting NJ for a few days and looking for some good wings to eat. Found Uncle Willie's Wings through yelp reviews and came in about 45mins before closing. Willie was great, black owned spot, originally from Chicago so the style and flavor made immediate sense. He danced to classic rap records while he made my food. As a person that does this at home, I felt like it made my food taste better and I could tell he has a real passion for his business. Food: I had 8 wings. 4 Asian Chi & 4 Garlic Parm. Both were amazing choices. Came with a side, I chose fries w/some of the Willies sauce on it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I also had a It Was All A Dream smoothie which was BOMB AF. I really hope he decides to open another location somewhere.

Great spot to get wings on a Friday night. Not in the best location. But definitely worth the drive.

We came for the Oxtail burger but on this day they were only making beef burgers, lamb burgers, and catfish sandwiches. The bonus, however, was the BBQ offerings in the backyard -- Mac n cheese, corn on the cob, fries, and plantains! Between the awesome cheeseburger and lamb burger, I was in seventh heaven. We had a great time sitting on the lawn and celebrating this glorious day with our brothers and sisters.

Shortly after, another couple came in and were told about 20 minutes. We were the only two parties waiting. When a table opened, the waitress began seating us, and the chef stopped her and asked the other (AA) couple if they were there first. He then told the gentleman, "I see you with family, and I'm not trying to start any problems." This was said while we were literally being seated, and nothing was said to us. It put us in an awkward and embarrassing position, as we would never intentionally skip ahead of anyone. As a Hispanic couple, the interaction also left us wondering if we were being treated differently, even if that wasn't the intention. Then the drink order added to the frustration. I ordered a hibiscus lemonade and my boyfriend ordered a regular lemonade. The waitress repeated it back incorrectly as strawberry, and I corrected her. About 10 minutes later she brought a strawberry lemonade anyway. When I said that wasn't what I ordered, the chef took the drink and handed it to the other couple who had just ordered a strawberry lemonade , saying it was freshly made and "they didn't want it." That was uncomfortable because I never ordered strawberry to begin with. Overall, the interaction felt dismissive and awkward. Mistakes happen, but the way this was handled -- especially the comments made -- left us feeling unwelcome. I hope this feedback helps improve communication and customer experience moving forward.

I of course joke about the famed boxers relationship but I can confirm this Newark institution packs a championship punch where it counts. For decades, Krug's Tavern has been proving that a neighborhood bar with a small well-seasoned grill is sometimes all you need. Without any unnecessary fanfare, they've been serving truly exceptional burgers to Newark locals and hungry visitors from across North Jersey, and there's no sign of slowing down. I stopped in one afternoon on the recommendation of a friend who works for the utility company and had spent more than a few lunch hours beneath Krug's dimly lit ceilings. Within a few bites, it was easy to understand why the place has earned such a devoted following. The Shrimp Scampi may sound like an unusual order off the bar menu, but don't overlook it. It's outstanding and deserves a place on the table no matter what else you're eating. Better yet, ask for the house "secret sauce"--a glorious combination of the scampi butter and Buffalo sauce that somehow works far better than it has any right to. When it comes to burgers, the quintessential Jersey Taylor Ham burger is a must, delivering that perfect salty, smoky bite only New Jersey can truly appreciate. The bacon cheeseburger is equally memorable, piled high with crispy bacon and juicy enough to make napkins less of a suggestion and more of a necessity. Pair any of it with an ice-cold draft beer, soak in the neighborhood atmosphere, and you'll quickly understand why Krug's Tavern has become a North Jersey institution. It's proof that great burgers don't need gimmicks--just a hot grill, cold beer, and decades of doing things the right way. It's bound to be a good time, an IRONbound good time (I'll see myself out)

So good. And they serve complimentary pickles and hot peppers on the side, which really sets it off. You literally don't even need fries with this burger -- it's more than enough. I ordered a whole one and could only eat half. My friend and I even said we should've just shared one! We started with the garlic fried shrimp scampi. The flavor was definitely there, though the shrimp were just a tad tough. I ordered a lemon berry Arnold Palmer, which didn't really impress me -- but I wasn't there for the drinks. I came for the burger, and I was more than satisfied. The prices were fair, and you get a small discount if you pay cash. They have their own parking lot behind the building (not the supermarket one), which is a big plus because parking in that area can be rough. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and I loved how everyone helped each other instead of just one assigned server handling everything. TVs all around, music playing, people laughing and enjoying is what you'll find here! It's kid friendly so bring the fam with ya! I will definitely be back. If you're a burger lover, I highly recommend this spot!
