The choice was limited to 2 meats and it was 12.30 During a non existent rush Lunch hour. It used to be Lined with excited eaters, Now it's virtually empty. I'm not a fan of pork belly So I was left with underwhelming Dry Pulled but not Pulled Pork. And 13 euro for 200 grams. Needless to say this purchase was regrettable. For the same Price or less I have several Viable options to choose from. In the future, this won't be One of them. (

I smell smoked meat!" I followed my nose to an oasis of of meaty delight: Big Stuff Smoked BBQ. I swear that tears formed in my eyes as I saw the writing on the glass display: BRISKET. Alas, my tears of joy turned to tears of sorrow, when the guy in front of me got the last delectable-looking piece. Then the tough decision: pulled pork or pork belly? Well, anyone with a brain would choose the crispy fat and juicy flesh of the pork belly... so I chose pulled pork. ;-) While I was waiting for my sandwich to be assembled, I started up a conversation with the owners about the difficulties of finding brisket in Germany. I was quite impressed with their knowledge of brisket versus tri-tip, and the delicate process of cooking brisket hot, then warm for hours. These guys knew their stuff!! After my pork was pulled (by hand), I was asked to choose a sauce. I went with the spicy one, naturally. Most sandwiches come with a variety of veggies: cucumbers, lettuce, etc., but I'm a purist. Meat, sauce and bun, please. Pickles on the side, if you've got 'em. I think my hands actually trembled a bit when I went to take the first bite. The aroma of the smoky sauce and juicy pork were almost overwhelming. The sandwich did not disappoint. I would even go so far as to say it was on par with some of the best barbecue I've had - even from central Texas, the Vaterland of barbecuing excellence. A glass of tart lemonade, garnished with lime, mint and cucumber was a delicious accompaniment to the sandwich. I'm already planning my next visit at the end of September. I'll be there first thing on Thursday morning, guys. Save me a slab of brisket and a bottle of the spicy sauce!!

Just chatting with the pit master I could tell he had a lot knowledge about good bbq in Austin and around Texas. Also appreciated the large and ever-changing craft beer selection. Staff was nice- will definitely be back when I get the craving for the taste of home. The only suggestion I have is to improve the sides. The mac and cheese could use some love and would taste much better if it was made from scratch. Also the Mexican street corn came straight from the can, but would be much better if corn cobs could be grilled for a bit on the smoker. But the place hasn't been around too long, hopefully the sides will get better with time!

The atmosphere is beautiful and refined, with a very upscale Japanese vibe that makes the whole evening feel special. From the moment we walked in, the staff were extremely attentive and welcoming. Since we had a reservation, we were seated right away, and our waiter made the night even better. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and gave us fantastic recommendations both for which cuts of meat to order and which sake to pair with them. The quality of the food speaks for itself. Every piece of meat was fresh, perfectly prepared, and cooked exactly how we wanted. The sake pairing took it all to another level. If you're looking for a place in Germany that delivers on service, atmosphere, and exceptional food, Ushido should absolutely be on your list. Highly recommend for a date night, birthday, or any special occasion!

But everything else was immaculate. Prefer the only salt wagyu then in soy sauce marinated wagyu. Every kind of premium was spelling premium on your tongue. Every beef they offered was tasty. Also tried the pork belly which was also nice marinated so that the pork had this smokey unique taste. For side dishes I recommend you to try the karaage and agedashi. Very very delicious!!! For veggies we only picked the pumpkin. Very nice flavor and matched the beef very very well. Fyi: you should book in advance or reserve a table since it's always full. Parking is very hard. This restaurant is more on the pricier side! They have a special grill which doesn't make any sounds unlike Korean barbecue where you can here it sizzling. That's why you don't really smell that strongly after eating. All in all very nice service, super fresh and high quality beef. Worth going!

The bun was extremely sloppy and the taste of the burger had been pretty low and boring. That being said the actual experience been rather low considering the prices charged. Burgers came without fries and coleslaw which ended up being pretty expensive with 3-4 euros extra per serving. Even the price of a beer with 4,50 is even higher than you would expect in Mitte at top tier locations like entrecôte. Actually great basis for a good shop but price and taste is far lower than what you can get in Berlin on average.

They have the smokers, the owner comes from Texas, this is as close as you're going to get in Berlin. That said, the Brisket was a little drier than it should be, and and ribs were just OK. Now, this is compared to Austin BBQ, which is king country for this style of BBQ. If you put the Texas flag up and claim you're THE spot for Texas BBQ, then someone from Texas is going to come in there. The jalapeño sausage is spot on, however. I think it's going to be very hard to hit the true Texas mark, because the smokers are indoor here and you probably can't get the right kind of wood, and I don't know how long or at what temperatures they're cooking at. I really want to give this a more accurate 4.5 stars, because it's Berlin, NOT Texas. But it cannot be 5 because it's just NOT as good as something you'd get IN Texas, but it's the best you're going to come close to in Berlin, or probably all of Europe. So, if you're European, make believe this is 5 stars and you'll love it. If you're a Texan in Berlin, it'll remind you of home, but don't expect Terry Black's or Michelthwait's. Don't even mention the guy who's name begins with F...that would be sacrilege to compare Lino's to F's.

Usually, especially Before Chipotle, local takes were fun & often strange - like the gouda & curried chicken burrito in Holland, 1996. But the Germans ... they don't mess around. 2018 I was astonished accidently finding "SF Burrito Company" in Köln. My brain blew a fuse. And the burritos were absolutely outstanding in every possible way. Went there dozens or times. Took my first born there, who was raised on Bay Area burritos. Wow! Then I learned SF taquerias were all over Deutschland. Maybe I should relocate ... Sadly, SF Burrito Co in Köln did not survive Covid. But cologne has other taquerias making magnificent burritos (to be reviewed later). I'd spotted Berlin's Dolores on previous trips but had not tried for a variety of reasons. Enter 2024 and in town with my youngest son (also raised on burritos). I was so excited to try Dolores. But truly saddened by the food experience. I grade burritos on a local curve. And by German standard, Dolores gets 3 stars max. It's basically blander than Chipotle. I'm so let down by the experience, I can't even describe it. I'll start either the Quesadilla as my burrito PTSD is just too strong to reflect on it. The chicken quesadilla was awful. Chicken and tortilla texture felt as if they were both prepared in a microwave. Rubbery chicken that was extremely dry inside. Zero crispness to the tortilla. Next to no cheese. And way too much cilantro on the chicken. And a side of mushy pico de gallo. I'm almost crying in shame reflecting on what a quesadilla from the Mission is compared to this. Ugh. The burrito. Got their house Pork special. Said it was Carnitas. For some reason, it took over 15 minutes to get to us - not a problem but bizarre as they had a burrito assembly line running. Anyway, it was very flabby in construction. No tension in the tortilla to hold it together. And the tortilla was mushy. Not properly steamed or crisped on the grill. The pork was very nice. A highly spiced pulled pork. Definitely not anything like carnitas. I do not believe it was fried or braised. A very low proportion of meat to rice. And the rice ... way too much Cilantro. Texture OK. But soapy cilantro from the rice practically overpowered the pork. Beans - refried which was a nice surprise. They were pretty OK . No cheese. A tiny amount of sour cream. Had a hot salsa in it. But was hardly noticeable and not even hot. Basically, a burrito that was a so-so copy of Qdoba or Chipotle. So sad. So very sad. The dining experience - the place was packed on a beautiful Saturday. A Line spilling out to the street. Nowhere to sit inside or outside. It was wonderful seeing so many couples and families enjoy an SF burrito experience ... I am thankful or this.
