Walking in, I was happily greeted and seated right away. For my first time here I noticed it was very clean, great ambiance and fast service. My waitress, Amy, was very informative with recommendations, suggestions, and a smiling face. The ceaser salad was absolutely delicious, and my filet mignon was cooked to perfection for myself. Amy recommended the hash brown as a side, and it did not disappoint! It's the little things like remembering my name from reading my ID, to sending me off with a bread bag makes me want to come back. My only complaint is I wish this place was more busy on a Friday night! It definitely deserves to be. Absolutely amazing! This was our first time coming here, and we decided to try it out since it's so close to home. Even without reservations during the busy holiday season, they seated our table for two in under five minutes, which was impressive. The restaurant was very clean, and our waitress was incredibly kind and welcoming. I also loved that they offer daily specials. I ordered the 9oz filet with red-skinned potatoes and a Caesar salad. Took my mother here for her birthday. The food was great, but the service was terrible. It honestly felt like our waitress was trying to set a record for how fast she could get us out of there. Everything started off fine -- she took our drink and appetizer order, and when the drinks arrived, we let her know we were ready to order dinner. About two minutes after placing our order, our salads came out, and maybe 10 minutes later our dinners arrived... but still no appetizer. When she set down my steak, I told her we would just pass on the appetizer at that point. Her response was, "Oh, I forgot." On top of that, my mother's steak was not cooked correctly. We also got our food so quickly that the table next to us -- who had been seated before us -- actually asked how we managed that. I jokingly told him, "Have a server who judges you by what you wear." After dropping off the food, the only other time we saw our waitress was when she brought the bill. This is now the second time in a row I've received horrible service at this place. It was my first and will be the last. Service was very bad, place was not busy but the server seemed to rushing, she would leave the table before I was finished ordering. Food was cold and tasteless and the drinks were watered down. I ordered a ribeye, that was told was cooked on the grill, but didn't even have grill marks. I have to admit appetizer were ok. It has been years since we have come back to this location. The inside has been well redecorated. Staff is pleasant and the place is busy. We ordered a number of different dishes. Two ribeye: seemed choice grade, perfectly cooked, way under seasoned, one with minimal fat and grizzle the other full of grizzle & fat. About 1/3 uneatable. The Tuna was good. The Ruben was okay. There could have been some butter on the bread when it was grilled as the bread was very dry. A second piece of Swiss would not have hurt either. Good portion of corned beef. Onion soup could use more more onion with salt and pepper. Salads are fresh cut in house,not bagged lettuce. Over all everything was under seasoned. The mashed potatoes could have used some butter and cream as they were very dry and minus salt too. Side Mac & cheese was good. Staff very busy. We have been searching for a restaurant close to home where a reservation could be made. Wish we would have really loved it here. read more

Wife looks at me "I like her demeanor" thumbs up on that one George.. Over the years eating here, we have never had an empty plate on our table for more than a minute or two and whoosh it's gone, Tina always zipping around clearing tables relentlessly.. The Food- Ribs, pilaf, and steak bites all properly cooked nice and hot, with a flavor only Steakhouse 22 can deliver.. Ribs were nice and meaty, not the dry beef jerky ribs you get at Texas Roadhouse on Brown Rd that's for sure, thank you Steakhouse 22 Anyone who says they have Rice Pilaf, and gives you some minute rice with gravy, should be stricken from their menu. Steakhouse 22 on the other hand knows the 2-step and it is delicious.. Kind of a mixed experience here. The restaurant is nice and clean, the servers are all very friendly and helpful. The food could use some help though. For starters we ordered the saganaki and calamari. Saganaki was delightful but the calamari is served with the sauce beneath the squid itself which causes the breading to become soggy. Would be a lot better if they served the sauce on the side like most restaurants do. The French onion soup is good, our Caesar salads were ok but drenched in dressing. My biggest gripe was the steaks. Dad and I both ordered ribeyes not realizing they pan fry the steak in butter rather than grilling them on a grill. Both steaks were overcooked, swimming in butter, and not very good. The side of baked Mac and cheese I got was definitely not what I expected. Watery cheese, unpleasant taste, slight sweetness to it, and a heavy dusting of paprika on top. I took one bite and didn't take another after that. Mom had the whiskey salmon which was a very generous portion but she said it did not taste fresh at all. The kids meals are also a generous portion. We had the cream puff and the bumpy cake for dessert and both were fine for what they were, nothing special. We had an amazing family dinner here. Party of 6 - 4 of us got steak and they were all cooked to perfection. The other two dishes ordered were sea bass and ahi tuna both were excellent. The side salads were great and soup, mac and cheese and twice baked potato were an excellent accompaniment to the meals. It was also very nice to get loaves of fresh hot pumpernickel bread with honey butter. The service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. We completed our meals with 3 desserts for the table to share - carrot cake, bumpy cake and hot fudge cream puff sundae. Definitely bakery quality desserts and very large portions. As a native to the Utica area, I can't tell you how many times I've driven by this place over the years and have never stepped foot inside... until today. It's had a few different names over the years, but today was a special night out and we've been trying to hit places locally owned places that are new to us and I must say, I was very a happy! Everyone was very happy with their meals over all. I had the Cowboy, which is the 23 ounce ribeye and it was cooked perfectly medium rare as asked. It was a really nice cut: well trimmed, very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The menu states that all steaks come with a mushroom cap and I kind of expected something along the lines of a large portabella cap, but it's a small cremini like cap... no big deal. I also had the baked mac and cheese side, which was also very good, but I have to take a star off for the poor Caesar Salad. It was warm and my salad was DRENCHED in dressing to the point that my croutons were soggy. I've NEVER had soggy croutons before, so it was an odd experience. My wife's Caesar had virtually no dressing, so I guess I got hers... weird. Overall, everything was quite good, except for that sad salad. The sirloin was nice as was the whiskey glazed salmon. Very nice interior. Very clean, slick and modern, but welcoming and comfortable. Service was just OK. Not slow, but felt unattended, even though it wasn't very busy. The table behind us was dirty from when we walked in until the time we left, so maybe staffing is just an issue at the moment? Overall, very pleased! I'll be glad to add this to the rotation of weekend dinner destinations. read more

This place is too cute! The interior is newly remodeled and it's really pretty! Food was great from start to finish. We started off with oysters Rockefeller which I would totally get again! You get 6 big oysters filled with the creamy sauce, cheese, bacon and spinach. We upgraded our soups to the French onion. For $2 more it was worth it! Huge pieces of onions, lots of cheese and bread and a super flavorful broth. I got the special, sea bass and it was just ok. The flavors of that and the spinach it was on barely came through and I had to salt and lemon everything to give it a flavor so that was disappointing but I did upgrade to the twice baked potato so that made up for it! We were sat about the exact time we were told we would wait, our server put in our daughter's food right away so she wouldn't get hangry, and we were promptly served everything in a well spaced out manner. Our waitress Brianna was amazing, she was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The meal started with pumpernickel bread and a cherry butter which was good, my husband requested regular butter which he liked better. I ordered the NY strip and a lobster tail with a baked potato and French onion soup. My husband ordered the NY strip with a side of shrimp, a twice baked potato, and the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad and the French onion soup were both great! Both steaks were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The twice baked potatoes were okay, a little dry and required added butter to eat. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and delicious. The lobster tail was unfortunately over cooked and very rubbery, but was quickly replaced by our waitress and the replacement was delicious. My husband also had a Manhattan which he said was just okay. Overall it was a good experience and we would give it a try again. read more

My wife, myself and my grandson went there for dinner. The food as usual was excellent and so was the service. Even the glass of wine was delicious. The next day my wife realized she forgot to pick up her wallet and left it on the table. I went to the restaurant the next day and asked if anyone turned in a wallet the night before. The very helpful and empathetic young woman at the reception desk said she would check. She returned with her wallet with all the cash and credit cards etc. untouched. Our waitress was great and had such a fantastic personality. First time coming here, we came on a Friday night, the wait to get seated was roughly 10 minutes... not too bad. Our waiter was fantastic, probably one of the best parts about this restaurant (other than the soup but we'll get to that later) she was very attentive and very friendly, drinks were never empty which is my #1. We went around 7PM and they were out of their soup of the day so we opted for the French onion, which was FANTASTIC.... Super flavorful and just downright delicious. I ordered the steak and my husband ordered the salmon, which were good but truth be told Longhorn makes a better steak. The restaurant was LOUD, like you had to shout to the person at your table loud, other then that it was a nice atmosphere. All in all it was a good steakhouse but I just can't give it 5 stars because it was not the best steak I've ever had. read more
