MY GOODNESS, place was incredible! I visited London with a group of friends, and we made a…read morereservation well in advance, which I'm so glad we did. This restaurant was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I ordered the beef roast, and we also shared a side of the creamy cauliflower, which was to die for. I truly cannot sing the praises of this restaurant enough. The service was personable and welcoming, making it easy and comfortable to ask questions and try new things. One of the managers (apologies I don't know her name) checked in on us several times and even encouraged a few of us to try additional menu items. The food came out quickly, and once it arrived, the table went completely silent because we were all too busy enjoying every bite. I highly, highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting London and even the locals. A solid 10/10 experience!

If I could rate this place a 10/5 I would. This was a death row meal for me. WOW…read more We came here for a sunday roast with 8 people, of those 2 got fish & chips- the rest the roast. I was a fish person, and I am SO HAPPY I did! The fish at this restuarant will live in my head forever. Im not joking. I live in the US and I almost want to fly back to London just to have it again. The roast looked great too, many of my friends saying the meat was great and the gravy was flavorful. The staff were ALL so friendly, even offering the charge a phone that was dying! The place itself feels like it's straight out of a movie, a true london pub. I cannot stop thinking about this fish. Mall Tavern, if youre ever in Minnesota, please send me the recipe.

Ordered two burgers - some of the best I've ever had. Beer was good. Definitely a great stop in London. Neat location. I highly recommend this place!

One eventually came to our table after sitting awhile. I of course had to try the fish n chips. A couple of veggie burgers were ordered and a regular burger. Surprisingly happy hour was still on at 8 o'clock so drinks were ordered. The food all came at the same time and everything was cool. The fish had a nice flavor from the fried batter. To me it was similar to Long John Silvers as far as the batter is concerned, but slightly better quality overall. The fries were standard. The only thing horrible was the very bland mashed green peas. They should be omitted from every pub across the country, but I think it is a traditional item included with the fish. The cocktails were good as well as the price. The sticky toffee pudding was something else I was advised to try while in London. I must admit it was really delicious. It came with a scoop of ginger ice cream and a warm buttery toffee sauce to pour over. It was delightfully warm and sweet and paired well with the ice cream. The cake itself was moist enough on its own with notes of brown sugar and molasses. I could have had seconds and thirds of this desert. Yum! The majority of my party didn't think the food was fantastic. The burgers happened to be somewhat alright. This was a first for me having pub food and I would have more again as long as I stick to the basics.

Went to the Castle because they were offering classic British Sunday Roast (if you don't know what…read morethat is, it's a big deal over here. Some sort of meat (beef/pork/lamp/chicken/vegetarian option, plus roasted potatoes, veggies, gravy, and Yorkshire pudding (a sort of conical croissant?))). My SO had the Sunday roast customized for her in her inimitable way, but was still not pleased. I ordered off the regular menu, and loved it, so 5 stars! She can set up her own Yelp account if she wants to argue. The service was friendly and helpful (although once the food was served, we didn't see them again. This is kind of normal for UK pubs? I feel like the booze options on Yelp need updating: beer, wine, straight liquor and gin & tonics. Maybe call it Uk pub full bar? No martinis or Moscow mules here.) Our server (south Asian dude, helpful, accommodating, and friendly) was awesome, but so were the other staff (2 nice young ladies of different ethnic ancestry), so basically across the board great service. Weather was great, so we enjoyed people watching from our outdoor seats (Daunt book totes are definitely a thing here. Even when the bookshop in question is closed)
