I love coming here, there is wood and metal and glass and chandeliers. It genuinely has so much potential to be pretentious but isn't. There is an approachability here and I have seen the owner working the bar, often. All of the baristas are super nice and the space is pretty big with lots of seating both inside and out. The menu is pretty limited and is for sure a coffee drinker's establishment (people who like espresso and latttes and such) but they offer lots of pastries including scones, croissants, empanadas and muffins. People are often found here meeting for work, hanging on their laptops and reading. Somehow, there are always tons of gorgeous men.... But, that's neither here nor there ;) read more

Cute coffee shop on South Pearl Street. It's located in a residential area that's pretty walkable (and also close to the Pearl Street farmer's market!) The drinks are great, and the ambience is very charming. There were also plenty of seating both inside and outdoors in the patio area. It's hip without being pretentious and feels cozy without being cramped. The coffee is of good quality. However, the staff is unfriendly and unhelpful. There is no clear signage indicating whether dogs are allowed in with you. Having a dog with me, I avoided going inside and attempted to order from the window. They insisted I come in but without my dog. I declined. I'll order from the window. They insisted that I should pre-order my order of a single espresso. They said "this time I will take your order" as if ordering from the outside is not allowed. I left and will not be returning. This place is so busy they act as if they are doing you a favor rather than providing a quality product and service. read more

I go here every day and the service is awesome, the drinks are great, the indoor/outdoor setup is amazing. The only issue I have is that they don't have any outlets. Very cute, aesthetic and clean coffee shop with a peaceful outdoor seating area. It's a nice place to walk to in the morning. The location is the main reason I come here. The service is just sometimes unfriendly and quite slow (espresso can take 10-15 minutes). They also don't offer any flavors to add to your latte, just simple syrup. I think the simple syrup actually worsens the latte versus flavors like caramel or lavender. Their coffee also isn't *so* good, to be that one shop that doesn't have flavors. read more

This place is awesome. Large windows, open garage doors, fresh air, bright light. A great environment for work or social get togethers. One large table for laptop workers, and counters for the laptop-free. Small tables for more intimate conversations. Ambience aside, the COFFEE IS AWESOME! One of the few places in the area that doesn't serve overroasted espressos. The microfoam is absolute perfection, the baristas serve it up with a smile and you never feel rushed to leave. The patio is a plus for nice days, with the airplane fuselage serving as a perfect spot for the little ones to tumble around in while you enjoy your caffeine. I can easily spend an entire day here. the trick is learning to nurse a cortado for that long. ;) Try the gluten free baked goods such as financiers and orange blossom cake. Coffee tasted good, the place is definitely great for being with a friend outside or if you need to get work done on the inside. The decor really make you want to stay. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 is the coffee is a bit pricey for my taste. They charge by the cup rather than giving you a discounted refilll. It was also pretty hard to locate all the outlets considering the size of the space. While this may be intentional, it's slightly difficult to let it go considering many other places have those to luxuries. I always suggest Steam when my boyfriend asks me where I would like to go get coffee. 1st - I love the drive through the Wash Park area and imagining I live there. 2nd - the space itself is awesome! Super great place to set up a laptop and work. On warmer days, they have an outdoor patio that I love as well. 3rd - they coffee is amazing! I did give 5 stars because I do love it, but I think this spot has attracted quite a large student population. So, on weekends when school is in session, you will definitely see many people doing homework/working on laptops. From my visit here, it looks like there are a ton of regulars who come here to read, work, write, and enjoy the peaceful vibe of the place. Steam: the local "bar" you can visit before noon without facing an intervention. I've frequented Steam a bunch of times now, having fallen helplessly in love with their Spicy Chai Latte. I love this place. The rustic interior is really charming. The service is always fantastic. And, to top it all off, they serve awesome drinks AND have a nice variety of edibles here. I'm personally not a fan of boxcar coffee, BUT everything else about this place is so great that the coffee doesn't even matter. They use pacific's barista line almond milk, which means frothy almond milk lattes! Food-wise: they have Maria Empanadas, croissants of all sorts, bread, cake, and other stuff in circulation. You won't starve. One note: seats fill up fast, so grab one if you're planning on working on stuff or meeting with a friend. Wow, this was great. I was at the Mayu Sanctuary across the street yesterday and they mentioned Steam. This morning I went over to have coffee and study. The owners and staff are very friendly, and the environment is great, very clean, very appealing, and very open. Then came the catch - no Caramel Latte! My favorite coffee treat. The owner said they could add a little honey for sweetness. Oh boy, this had me worried, I would never consider that if I had to suffer a Starbucks, but I had only heard good things. I met up with John V. for a long overdue chat last week. It was 2pm on a Friday and the place was PACKED. Seriously, there wasn't one empty table. So we sat at the bar. I was thrilled to see they had a Cortado on their menu. I love Cortados! So I ordered that and it was fantastic. Additionally, he shared one of his fresh pressed juices to sample. I really enjoyed that. I enjoyed Steam so much that I came back the next day to try one of their lattes and I was equally impressed. I saw a couple of complaints about them not having flavored drinks. Well, they don't need to mask their beverages with sweet syrups. However, they do have a mocha on the menu, so there's that. Steam isn't just great because they have delicious drinks, but because they have amazing staff as well! The owner, Hani was very engaging during our Friday visit and even offered us a sample of his Apple-beet-ginger juice. I really enjoyed it. The adorable strip of small shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops - Steam Espresso Bar fits right in. The architecture alone is enticing. The kind of industrial style found in the garage door that leads to the outside patio infused with a delicate rustic style conveyed in the elegant chandeliers, fresh flower arrangements dispersed throughout the cafe, farm-like re-purposed wood tables, and large scale light fixtures above the counter all make for a lot of visual stimulation right when you walk in. It took me about five minutes to soak it all in and finally place on order. I settled on their chai and then one of their house made juices with fruits and veggies available that day. I was lucky enough to order on a day with lemon, ginger, apple, and carrot. It was refreshing and filling. The service echos the quality and attention to detail in every aspect of design. I give them credit -this little coffee shop has been open a few years and is always packed and doing well. They sell a specific brand of espresso product to a specific brand of people and if you are one of those people you would love love love Steam. I'm a slightly bigger fan of both Corvus Roasters, who sells a very similar product, and Stellas down the street which is the original granddaddy of the coffee store concept. read more

I got the pour-over coffee, which was pretty much life changeingly (definitely not a word, but my point stands) good. I struck up a conversation with the barista, who was really friendly and willing to answer all my questions about the menu. Aw man, this place is beyond adorable. The interior is light, airy, and the countertops made of reclaimed boxcars made me so happy. Speaking of, they serve Boxcar Coffee (and do it amazingly well and with grace, I'd like to add.) I had their cortado. Served up in a beautiful glass, I enjoyed sipping it next to their open window looking onto their patio and garden, complete with the remains of a small, old airplane. Steam sits on a pretty corner in a super walkable area--I could definitely see myself picking up coffee here before taking a long walk around this 'hood and the park. What I was most surprised about is how big this place feels! The space is divided into two big rooms with plenty of seating, plus a gorgeous patio that tons of people were taking advantage of on this beautiful Colorado spring day. I made it here about an hour before closing so I didn't have much time to kick back, but this is a great place for both taking meetings or cranking out a bunch of work. today's visit to this neighborhood gem was during lunch hours with great Colorado fall weather. most of the patio seating were taken so decided to take other options inside. got my favorite spot by the back door but community table opened up so i upgraded. how i love sitting here and different thing that's going on here. got my 12 oz americano and passed up on some GF options and also other pastries. of course they got lots of other drink options but non of the flavors that you pump out. seating wise, lots of bar seating inside and out. during nice weather, garage door is left open so you can sit front of it. two garage doors. this place is converted from old house (?) with all of the modern updates. love the simple Edison lights, chandeliers, huge and bright restrooms. coffee is good, barista is friendly, great mellow music is on. Definitely feels like place i can rest and brainstorm new ideas. i bet if Picasso was around, this would have been his favorite place to dream up some wild imaginations while getting high on caffeine. read more
