Kevin is not only incredibly knowledgeable about the lake and the local striped bass, but also super friendly, patient, and great with kids. We caught a ton of fish--including my son's very first one! That moment alone made the trip worth it, but the entire experience was top-notch from start to finish. Kevin made sure we were comfortable, taught us a lot about the area and the fish, and made the whole outing feel effortless and fun. But the best part was there is no need for a permit to take pics, so we saw a few other people also having a photoshoot here. They have some old buildings, which is really cool. And there are geese everywhere haha so beware of them. However, there is also peacocks and we got to see two peacock babies, too. So many great photo opps! They also have lakes, too. We went to one but didn't make our way around the entire park as this place is HUGE. I definitely want to come back and explore more when it's a bit cooler out.

The lady at the gate was friendly and efficient. There are numerous picnic areas, fishing from the lake/spring at the "center" of the park, and paved walking paths/trails around the park. There are several lots along the entrance road--just keep driving till it ends if you cannot find a parking or want to start walking further in the park. Birth he picnic areas and portions of the trails have shade. There are grassy areas as well. This is a very nice place to take a walk during the temperate months or near dusk or dawn when it is cooler in the area. If you are visiting the area and want to get away from the busy city or live here and want a nice place to walk, fish, picnic, or sit, this is a great place to go. Also, they have a bunny rescue that lets you adopt bunnies to save them like a dog rescue--open hours are posted in the park.

Come out to the wetlands and see parts of "Vegas," one could only imagine. There are no casinos . It's park of a walking paved trail system, but you are able to detour and walk off into the mountain area. So much to explore here . Be mindful that no bathrooms exist. This is not part of the park system. You can walk off and get lost . The wetlands area is huge and has lots to offer . Be prepared ahead of time. No casinos here . We are going out to the wilderness . It's water and food type stuff you need. It's truly a blast. Remember where you parked. You're going to get those steps in today. Let's see where the day goes. Not only are these walking trails but bike trails too. Be careful and remember those around you. Your in nature and wild animals exist. You can sit on a cactus or something. Have fun and enjoy yourself and those among you.

People eat a lot of great foods visiting Las Vegas. I think walking around away from The Strip helps. Las Vegas does have plenty of local parks and playgrounds that tourists rarely check out. Not huge, but there's three parts of the lakes to it when driving on W Breakwater Drive in the middle. Plenty of off street parking. I usually park by the second or middle lake and then walk around from one end to another. To be exact, there are four lakes with public access: Lake Sarah, Lake Jacqueline, Lake Maddison, and Lake Lindsay. I heard there's Lake Sahara too, but that's only for residential access. Feels safe and clean. Not much to see other than houses, ducks, and birds. Very relaxing. The bike lanes were wide enough for bikes as well as people to walk on if there are no sidewalks in some of the spots. Surprisingly, there are a few nice restaurants in the middle part/section where you'll see lots of two story office buildings in a plaza. Good spots for photography and there are security guards onsite riding around in some areas too. Not many people come here unless they know residents in the area. Lakes are not gated, which makes walking a great option all around here. Definitely check it out even as a tourist. Maybe you can capture a few great photos on a good day too. It's beautiful out there if you really take the time to walk around and take a look. Nice neighborhood. Quiet and calm. Retail shops not far out onto the major streets.

I have hiked around Lake Harriet on my way to Sandstone Canyon and the trail leading behind the…read morelake. The lake is now dry, having been drained to save a small native fish. The state removed the Pahrump poolfish because there was a fish that was not native to the area that had been put in the lake. They then drained the lake and it has been dry for almost three years. The ranger told us yesterday that they hope to refill the lake by the end of 2019. One note for the future hiking around Lake Harriet. The trail on the east side of the trail is closed for restoration. The ranger told us yesterday that it was permanently closed and there would be no loop hike around the lake. As a bit of history, Chet Lauck of the radio show Lum and Abner, who owned Spring Mountain Ranch for a number of years, had the old reservoir moved to the top of the hill and named it after his wife Harriet. The lake is fed by a well that puts much water into the lake. It's a short hike to the top of the hill to see the lake from the parking lot. Just wait until next year if you want to see it with some water.

The huge, grassy field is perfect for picnics, and the restrooms are very clean. It's also pet-friendly, with leashed dogs welcome on the trails. There are several different hiking options, from easy to moderate, with beautiful views. The parking lot had a few on the trashcans and we thought that maybe maintenance was low and decided to go onto to the water to take a look. Not even a couple of feet into the park thousands and thousands of roach like bugs on the ground just crawling around. The trees were beyond infested and i think can be a root cause to them being at the park along with the water.
