Steelhouse BBQ. Yummmmm. They are BBQ-caterers. They bring their grills and/or enormous smokers to you. You are drenched in the smell of hickory & cherry wood smoked BBQ as they are cooking it. It is torturous. Truly. Umkay: pulled pork is to die for. I mean it. DEElish. Moist & has a kick to it. Tri-tip also juicy & delish. BBQ beans yummy. The group of women there were the hardcore type to do much more than jog on the treadmill. And we can EAT!! The ribs were awesome, the pulled pork was amazing. I just had this fantastic BBQ this past weekend at a friend's house for a Niners party and DAMN. Just DAMN. This is some GREAT BBQ. I've eaten a lot of smoked and grilled meats before, but this was an experience crafted with both care and compassion and a true love of the art of BBQ. The time and patience for slow smoking really shines through with the tenderness and flavor in every bite of brisket. Two kinds were served - both were delicious! Like meat candy, it just melts in your mouth. The ribs were out of this world - Tony Roma's eat your expensive-@ss heart out! These ribs were tender, juicy, and the bones literally fell right out of the meat as you picked them up. Such a treat. The chicken was amazing as well - blackened on the outside, but not a charred flavor to be had! It was so delicious and juicy, often times BBQ chicken is dry and tough, or rubbery - not this stuff! Delicious and more than adequate without all the other BBQ items on display. Lastly, the baked beans with pulled pork and the bacon gorgonzola pasta salad were a perfect touch to the meal experience. I wish there was a way to clone their grill master and have him work in every restaurant in the world. The time spent on the preparation of each dish borders on the absurd. BBQ Pulled Pork steamed in Beer for hours, Tri Tip that could sway a strict Vegan to the dark side (I know, I was one), and the chicken...oh man the chicken....I can honestly say, without reservation, that the chicken is hands down the best I've EVER had (sorry mom and dad). I hired steel BBQ for my parents 30 anniversary, even though Sean cooks outside and it's very casual, my parents party was indoors and it was elegant. We were able to arrange with the place for him too cook outside and serve the food inside buffet style. His prices are awesome and the quality of the food delicious. I was fortunate to win a dinner for 10 that Sean of Steel House BBQ donated for a silent auction at a fund raising event. I had heard about Steel House; however, had never tried their BBQ. I have been a Bay Area resident all of my life and this is hands down the best BBQ I have had from any establishment. Did I mention I am particular about my BBQ? Many have tried and failed where Steel House BBQ nailed it. It is true that Sean absolutely loves what he does and puts his heart and soul into his craft. He was great at communicating while we made the arrangements for the actual event. Sean answered all of my questions and was prompt returning my calls. He was extremely professional and was spot on with timing and service of the food. On to the food... The award winning chicken was amazing! I could have stuffed my self alone on that and the BBQ baked beans he serves. I knew i had to pace myself as there was more to come. Next was the pulled pork that was great as well. It had just the right mixture of smokiness , sweetness, and heat. Fortunately Sean gave us an hour to digest before he brought out the Smoked Brisket. The flavors were amazing and the fatty burnt ends were off the hook. If I were to criticize it a little it would be that it was a tad dry; however, that didn't stop me from packing a bag of leftovers for some Brisket sandwiches. In case you didn't know he lets you keep whatever is left! Next was the Smoked St. Louis ribs. My GAWD they were good. It was the closest I have come to having a culinary religious experience in some time. Not too be left out, he serves a pasta salad that is a family recipe. So my wife's company was planning for the end of the year party and they usually buy crab, but The algae kept the season closed and the owner left it up to my wife to get a caterer for the party. My wife asked me if I knew of any caterers and I thought it was a great opportunity to try the barbecue from Steelhouse barbecue. Thank God for the algae! Sean and his barbecue went above and beyond my expectations. First of all the food was amazing. We ordered the ribs and chicken which came out so moist, both meats fell off the bone. Sean didn't hesitate to show me all his techniques that he used to get this awesome barbecue. Which brings me to my next point, it's good when you order from a caterer and the food comes out fantastic, nothing but compliments from the party goers, but it's great when you combine great food with even better people. The owner, Sean, sat down and chatted with me for hours and we found out we had a lot of things in common. At the end of the day everyone kept coming up to me and asking how long we had been friends, including my kids. I had just met Sean that day, but that's the type of person he is. We had a party, ONLY to eat Steel House BBQ, and show our friends real BBQ. All kidding aside, I ate Sean's BBQ a single time, told my mom about it, and we decided the only way that we could share it with our loved ones was to throw a party and bring him out to Q for all of my friends and family. It was such a hit, even some vegan members of my family were scarfing down the chicken and tri tip, claiming after years of being good, that they were "entitled to a cheat day". A good portion of the guests ended up encircling his tow behind BBQ, just to interact with Sean and his associate, asking questions about his craft, and learning about all of the heart and soul that he pours into his art. He said that he gives "food hugs", and we were all sad to see him go that day; he is now part of the family. From the moment that I contacted him regarding his services, until he pulled away, he was kind, thoughtful, professional, and passionate about not only his fine product, but the experience of my valued guests. It was pure chance that I met Sean and enjoyed the Steel House BBQ, but it was truly meant to be. Steel House BBQ made the party what it was, my guests and I all agreed.
