Visited March 25 2026...see my receipt. After driving into Yuba City we decided to get a lemonade before having lunch at the City Cafe. It was a way to relax alittle and let my puppy out for a bit. My girlfriend had told me about this place..decadent coffees and desserts! The coffee specials are so unique! I had already had a cup of coffee earlier at Starbucks so lemonade sounded refreshing ( and it was!). It's cute inside and has outdoor seating on the right side of the building which is dog friendly! While in the area, I decided to grab a coffee before making the drive back home. I really wanted to like Steele House Coffee and thought I would based off all the positive reviews, but it just wasn't for me. I had the Banana Cream Latte. The drink had such a strong artificial/chemical like smell to it. I noticed the smell as soon as grabbed it and was alarmed. I was hoping it was coming from something else but confirmed it was from my drink. The taste itself seemed fine, by that I mean it didn't taste like I was drinking anything that would kill me, but I couldn't get over the smell and ended up tossing most of it. Hoping it was just a one off thing, and it would've been a better experience if I just ordered a plain latte. Since I'm not from the area, I didn't want to rate it too low. It was extremely busy on a late weekday morning though, so I'm sure my opinion wouldn't impact business. There was some couch, table and bar table seating. There wasn't anywhere out of the way to stand since it was so busy. They do have an outdoor patio with a few more tables. Service was average, but they were very busy and perhaps overwhelmed. I stopped by this location for my morning coffee. The shop is located near many local businesses and restaurants. I ordered their banana cream latte which came light and creamy, nice for the warmer weather we're experiencing. I have tried their Mexican Mocha (hot) and it's one of my favorites here. The avocado bagel is nice too Today I just ordered their banana cream drink. The place is quite calm, perfect for lounging and several were on laptops. It has a nice vibe. When in Yuba City I wanted a good cup of Joe . I relied on Yelp to help me find a good spot and thankfully it took me to Steele . The inside is very nice. They have a couch to lounge at. They also have tables and chairs . They have a very cute little kids corner with the little kitchen and even a little chair and table for them. I love places at accommodate kids. They also have a cute patio outside. One thing that really stood out to me is the customer service I received . The guy in the front that helped me. He was so nice and attentive. He just made me feel very welcome and he gave me advice on what I should get. I ended up getting the lemon meringue latte which I thought it was different so I had to try it. It was very delicious and it looked very fancy with a little design. I got avocado toast, which was simple and good. Overall, I had a great time here customer service was 10/ 10 coffee was great. Greeted as soon as I walked through the door. I asked for recommendations cashier suggested Lemon meringue latte iced and it was delicious. I also had Joe's toast and it was surprisingly delicious. If you love sushi it is a must try. Setup is welcoming comfortable chairs and couches. Tables near outlets to plugin computers, I saw a few people on laptops doing their thing. Local art work on walls and cute area for the children. I came here by myself can't wait to bring my kids and make it a family outing. As a Yuba city native I gotta say this is my favorite coffee shop!! The coffee is great and the food is fresh!I love the vibe and decor layout inside which comfy couches and high top tables. and outside in the patio area is a plant lover dreams. Health plants of all kind that makes the day so peaceful. I love love that there are books and games for the patrons to use! Im undefeated at battleship and connect four!! But this last time we went we couldn't find any battleship games unfortunately. I really hope they didn't get rid of it. My go to order is always the cam sandwich on croissant and a French toast latte. I've tried various pastries as well and it's always delicious. The staff ate friendly and very informative. Since I was on my way for a day hike around the Sutter Buttes, I decided to stop in downtown Yuba City where I had the opportunity to try out "Steele House Coffee". This has been one of Yuba City's most popular family owned-and-operated coffee shops dating back to 2017. Located in the heart of downtown, this place is situated directly on Plumas St. and adjacent to Forbes Ave. Since I came here a little bit after 2pm on Saturday 10/19/2024, parking was readily available as I was able to park almost directly in front of the business. As for the interior layout, this place is absolutely spacious with brick walls, leather sofas, whole bean coffee/merchandise for sale, a large coffee grinder, and ample seating throughout. Think of the setting to have more of an artsy hipster vibe to it, something that I actually didn't expect in Yuba City. As for the exterior of the building, they also offer a very generous outdoor patio area on the more comfortable Sutter County days. Hours here vary as they are open for business Mon-Thu 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-7pm, Sat 9am-7pm, and Sun 9am-1pm. Since I needed a small caffeine boost, I decided to try out their "Iced French Toast Latte" (priced just under $7 for a large). As is the case in many mom-and-pop coffee shops, they offer unique "specialty" drinks ("Aztec Mocha", "Butter Beer Latte", etc.) as well as the traditional cold brew, Gibralter, Latte, Mocha, and much more. And if you're in the mood for some food, they have a small baked goods area complete with other breakfast related items including bagels, avocado toast, and croissants amongst other items. As for my Iced French Toast Latte, this drink absolutely hit the spot on so many levels. Not too sweet, not too bitter, and not loaded with ice filled to the top which gave me more espresso and milk for my money. The service here was also quick and attentive as they had my drink ready in just a few minutes; even with other customers ahead of me. I also feel that this is the type of place where you can spend a few hours (reading, working, etc.) and lose track of time. With a great tranquil location, above average service, and delicious coffee, I am giving "Steele House Coffee" in Yuba City a perfect five-star rating. read more

So many places manage to burn their espresso or make it taste overly sour, but this coffee was exactly how espresso should taste. This was my first time being here. I appreciate the aesthetic and how it fits in with the vibe of this part of Yuba City. Upon entering, it's even more beautiful on the inside. Walls, wood benches, leather seats, lots of plants, local original art, and of course the place where they make all the drinks. Their menus are simple to read and easy to understand. Today, I purchased a pumpkin spice chai and it did not disappoint. I also ordered a morning bun which had an interesting flavor to it almost as though there was an infusion of a berry of some type. Customer service was great and just the whole area had a wonderful ambience. This looks like a wonderful place to meet up with for a cup of coffee, meet with friends to kickback and catch up, or a place to sit and get some work done. If you are passing through this area and looking to enjoy a warm drink and be seated admits the downtown area of Yuba City with few distractions, be sure to come by here. Found this place through a random recommendation. just grabbed a couple of black coffees and an apple streusel for myself and my mom. $9 total. The staff was friendly and attentive, the place is funky and cute. The coffee is EXCELLENT, and inexpensive. Almost too inexpensive. The nice young lady at the cashier spot forgot to ring up my streusel so I got 4bucks change which I didn't realize till I was on my way. I know how small business can use every dime so I did go back (wasn't that far away) and pay for the pastry. I had hoped we found a new local gem. Sadly, we did not. The person taking our order was very kind. However, I was literally mid-sentence with my order and the lady making the food behind her came up and completely interrupted me. She was asking the cashier something about a previous order. Nothing urgent. I thought she would realize she had rudely interrupted me. She did not. She carried on her conversation with the cashier while we stood there and waited until she was done. We both got a coffee and also got a croissant and an avocado toast (4 items total). Our total was a little over $33. I get that they are trying to be a unique /special coffee shop. But if we are paying that price then our coffee should not taste like water, and the standard sweeteners and creamers avail at essentially all coffee shops should be avail. There were very limited options. The environment would have been more enjoyable if the same lady that interrupted me wasn't talking so loud behind the counter about personal things while we sat and ate and drank our coffee. Another random thing I found odd....Other people there received their food on standard ceramic plates. Ours were served in fast food style big styrofoam containers. We did not order our items to go. I have been a regular at Steele House for a few years now. The atmosphere feels like home, the staff are friendly and treat you like family, and the coffee is delicious. I especially love the French toast latte, killer bee, and lavender sunset. I used the space to write and work and I found the atmosphere to be inviting and warm.
