I'm more of a coffee drinker, but I definitely found a love for tea after visiting steep mountain tea house. It's located right in downtown Bozeman, making it a perfect place to grab a tea before Peets hill or shopping. The menu is quite extensive and a lot of it was foreign to me! I tried the house cider and it was delicious. It was full of spices and a warm apple flavor but very different from any apple cider I've had before. They also have some baked goods that looked amazing. Unfortunately it was too packed to sit and enjoy the tea there- it's clearly a popular spot and a cozy place to stay awhile. My husband found this cute little tea house to take me while we were in Bozeman MT. The tea house is very cozy and homey. There were a lot of loose leaf teas available for purchase, but you can also order it to enjoy there. They also had bubble tea as well, but we didn't try that. I have been here twice in the last couple of months and both times when I order a drink with either Boba or aloe jellies, the straw isn't big enough for either, so it clogs and I have to take the lid off to get anything out. I asked the cashier if they thought the straw clogging would be a problem this time and they just kind of said they have no idea that the straws are pretty much hit or miss. The cashier seems like they could've cared less and I was trying to be very friendly, I was not warmly greeted. The cashier just came out from the back and sat down and looked at me.. When I came here the first time the cashier was much nicer so maybe this was a one off experience. The tea itself is really good. It's just frustrating that I can't drink it out of a straw and have to make a mess to get to it. I went In for a refreshing drink as it was pretty hot outside and after the seeing that Lavender was among the most order, I decided to order the same. The drinks was very taste and wasn't as sweet as other places. You can taste the lavender and the splash of coconut milk sets pretty well. My only complaint is that the Bobba was significantly undercooked. They were still pretty hard. Other than that my experience was nice and staff is friendly. Extremely disappointed with this place. My family & friends came in to get a cold drink on a hot Saturday afternoon. The ordering process was kind of confusing. It wasn't like any of the other boba places I've been to in CA. Once we all ordered our drinks We sat around waiting for our drinks for almost 40 minutes! I've never in my life had to wait more than 5 minutes for a drink. The kids were extremely frustrated and my friends husband was falling asleep in his seat!. This was a horrible experience as this was our friends first boba experience and I regret bringing them to this place. This place is an oasis of peace and warmth. So pleasant and enveloping, I came twice in one day to come in from the cold and rest a while. Ordered a Thai tea and matcha milk tea, both with boba. Dear God, they were both really bad. The teas weren't teas so much as tea flavored water. And the boba was hard as a rock and almost inedible. I ordered a boba here. It was decent and hit the spot. I would go again for it, but I think I'd like to try a regular tea and sit (if there are any tables. It must be a popular place) and sip. It's got a nice atmosphere (upscale college feel, if that makes sense) with a shelf of games that you can play while you drink. The staff was very friendly. "Will this bubble tea be good enough for a Chinese guy from NYC?" -probably not. Instead I saw their kombucha on tap from Dr kombrewcha, which is one of my favorite main stream kombucha companies. I like that they do more herbal flavors and have less sugar. But once again, I thought this ain't all that special. Now I saw the tea list and was pretty impressed, but was getting real lazy at this point... Till I saw the specialty tea drink menu and I was sold. My friend and I ordered the vanilla mint latte, and coconut roasted mate. The vanilla mint latte at $4.50 was a well priced considering Starbucks will charge that same amount and offer half the flavor. The combination of vanilla and mint with milk made a real nice drink to complement the chocolate pastries at Wild Flour. While my buddy had the palate cleanser type of drink. I had the coconut roasted mate drink with rice milk. It had a good base roasted earthy flavor like a chicory coffee. It was a good backbone flavor to fall back on when eating a brownie. Great space. There is a huge selection of tea at Townshend's Teahouse! As a Chinese person, I really appreciated that! Several metallic cans containing various types of tea are displayed on a bookshelf-like organizer. I got the custom made boba tea, while my dad got the hot tea. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the boba tea. The boba pebbles were not soft and spongy, in addition to the milk not being creamy enough. However, my dad's hot tea was brewed very well and tasted delicious! It wasn't brewed too long so that the tea flavor was bitter - the tea was just right! The tea was very reasonably priced considering their operating costs! Even at 20oz of hot tea, the price does not surpass $4.00 (unless it's a latte). Carrying so many different types of tea can be quite expensive, especially when people usually drink the most commonly known types of tea. Thus, I am pleasantly surprised that they have still priced their teas quite low. The high quality of their hot tea makes the price even more stellar! Don't be discouraged from bringing large groups because there is plenty of seating available. read more
