For reference my 5 star experience was in the gondola. Highly recommend doing this though while in…read moreVail! Definitely felt like I was back in a Switzerland ski town! The gondola is cool because we had our own speak to play whatever we pleased! It felt very private and intimate which I really enjoyed. I loved the decor throughout the restaurant and our gondola had cute little touches as well. For example they had a coo coo clock that when off every hour. For drinks I tried their feuerzangenbowle and the muled wine. My husband got a Hugo spritz and jagertee. I loved my drinks the feuerzangenbowle uses flambé which was so cool!, it's pretty similar to the muled wine. Muled wine is always a favorite of mine when the weather gets cold! Our server was awesome and super attentive. He answered any questions we had and was very friendly. The gondolas have a set menu we ended up ordering more that was on the set menu since I wanted fondue and my husband wanted the raclette. We added on a fondue, ordered the raclette that came on our fixed menu and added on steak, along with the pretzel that comes as an appetizer. The food was really good, I think it is also just so cozy and suiting for the cold weather! Fondue and raclette are also just such a fun way to dine! Highly recommend and definitely will be back just to try the standard experience too without the gondola.

The feuerzangenbowle is a fun, warm drink with mulled wine and they will light the rum-soaked sugar cube. Slightly limited on options if you don't eat pork but you will find something like the salad with chicken schnitzel to get your schnitzel fix. The spätzle that came with the pork schnitzel was amazing. This was a fun place to come and on our next trip to Vail would like to try the apple strudel dessert that I did not have room for this time.

This restaurant is already quite well rated. The main purpose of my review is to let people know…read morethat A NEW LOCATION HAS OPENED In SNOWMASS VILLAGE. It is not even on the website for the Basalt location yet nor is it listed as of this writing on Yelp. People, please -- go to this restaurant. It was fantastic. I would like to share my 14 year-old daughter's comments on her entree, which are probably a little over the top, but reflect how much we all enjoyed the meal. She had the chicken schnitzel. "This is the best food I have ever had in a restaurant." "This is the best chicken I have ever had -- sorry mom." "This gives a whole new meaning to the word, 'chicken.' " I had the jager schnitzel (pork) with spaetzle. Very, very good. All of the schnitzels we ordered were very tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Spaetzle was delicious. The salads were good as well. I had a "Serbian salad" which at first glance would not seem like it would be much to crow about -- mostly cucumbers -- but somehow, with the heirloom tomatoes and dressing they used, also exceptionally good. Finally, we had the apple strudel. I've never met a strudel that I didn't like, but my wife, who is a bit more discriminating, thought it was one of the best she'd had -- light, buttery, not too heavy. My daughter does not like raisins or nuts in desserts. She said it was so good she didn't care that it had the two things she likes least in desserts in it. A couple of other comments. First, when you think German or Austrian food, you think "heavy." This food was not. It was delicious and satisfying but not heavy at all. Second, for the area, the prices are pretty good. $150 for three people with a la carte salads, entrees, and dessert. The service was great -- very prompt, very attentive, pleasant, but not overdoing. Ambience was nice, except for the fact that it was a little empty, which is a shame that must be rectified by diners in the area reading this review as soon as possible. Finally, not drinking these days, but the beer and wine menus looked pretty darned good. (Which I guess you would expect in a good Austrian restaurant, but at least you know they checked that box as well). Simple, perfectly executed menu, family friendly, not too expensive, light and satisfying Austrian food. Go.

Ok yeah so this a place I have to come back to. What a vibe! We popped in late night to grab a…read morequick drink, and really just loved the atmosphere. Very European-equse with all of its character... Original brick work, wooden beams, big ol' ceilings, arched doorways, etc. Didn't get a chance to peak in the back but heard it's something to return for. Instead, we sat near the front at one of the long, communal wooden tables nears. Service was speedy and friendly. I went for the watermelon marg and it literally came with a big ol' watermelon as a garnish. Super refreshing overall. Beir is more their main attraction though, so no doubt that's to be enjoyed. Here's to returning next time I'm in town to try the food menu too.

We came back a few weeks later and brought a friend from out of town who liked beer and was visiting Boulder. We enjoyed the patio and was happy to order from the happy hour menu. We enjoyed the atmosphere and seeing all the people walking around. There's also a really large room in the back that would serve private parties or large groups very well. The owner decorates the restaurant himself and it feels personal to his Czech heritage. We ordered the fried pierogies which were delicious. The spicy sauce was so yummy that I kept it to finish with my meal. I ordered the pork Jager schnitzel with spaezle. I liked the crispy schnitzel but I might ask for the gravy sauce on the side next time. The Honey Bite goes down easy and is delicious. Location is great. Parking was paid on the street and convenient to the restaurant. We had the same servers, nice young woman but I can't remember her name now. Very friendly and helpful. We like recommending this place to friends and will be back when visiting Boulder.
