The best vibes here! They absolutely nailed the ambiance in every aspect. I've never been to Germany, but I imagine it's a lot like this. Some colleagues and I popped in for a late night cocktail. They also had some limited snack items available, so we decided to order a soft pretzel because, when in Rome! It was delicious. Crunchy on the outside but soft and pillowy on the inside. I loved the cheese that came with it! To drink I went with a hugo spritz. Kind of random for a biergarten, I know. But I wanted something light and refreshing. This did just the trick! Ok yeah so this a place I have to come back to. What a vibe! We popped in late night to grab a quick drink, and really just loved the atmosphere. Very European-equse with all of its character... Original brick work, wooden beams, big ol' ceilings, arched doorways, etc. Didn't get a chance to peak in the back but heard it's something to return for. Instead, we sat near the front at one of the long, communal wooden tables nears. Service was speedy and friendly. I went for the watermelon marg and it literally came with a big ol' watermelon as a garnish. Super refreshing overall. Beir is more their main attraction though, so no doubt that's to be enjoyed. We came for an event and got to try lots of different plates. I had the Reuben before but didn't love the bagel bread. Loved the pretzel and it went well with beer. We came back a few weeks later and brought a friend from out of town who liked beer and was visiting Boulder. We enjoyed the patio and was happy to order from the happy hour menu. We enjoyed the atmosphere and seeing all the people walking around. There's also a really large room in the back that would serve private parties or large groups very well. The owner decorates the restaurant himself and it feels personal to his Czech heritage. We ordered the fried pierogies which were delicious. The spicy sauce was so yummy that I kept it to finish with my meal. I ordered the pork Jager schnitzel with spaezle. I liked the crispy schnitzel but I might ask for the gravy sauce on the side next time. The Honey Bite goes down easy and is delicious. Location is great. Parking was paid on the street and convenient to the restaurant. We had the same servers, nice young woman but I can't remember her name now. Very friendly and helpful. What a fabulous dinner at Bohemian Biergarten! Unbelievably comfortable in a Czech Gastropub European setting, the woodwork, antiques, tables, chandeliers, artwork... the whole restaurant is modeled after the ambiance experienced by owner Zdenek Srom during his earlier years in the Czech Republic. Sharing the dream is his wife Angelie and the time we had last night, from the delicious appetizers to the entrees including the European Beers, makes this restaurant the place to be when you want European especially Czech food. Stenack (sp?) and his wife, Angelique truly have brought an old-world charm and a European-feeling biergarten to Colorado Obsessed with having the authentic glassware for their various types of beer, they have lovingly appointed the bar! They also wanted to bring genuine dishes to Boulder in a farm to table environment. Not only is Stenack a restauranteur, but he is a designer. He kept the quaintness of the old building he purchased, renovating it with salvaged lighting, creating tables from old barn wood he found in New York. He exposed the original brick, painted the place himself, raised the ceilings and created a lovely and cozy extension of the restaurant with the addition of the event room. We enjoyed a beautiful spread of food and a cocktail. The gnocchi, enormous salad with chunks of pork lardon and homemade dressing, and pierogies (with a spicy sauce) were my favorite things. All delicious! The sour cream sauce on the gnocchi was awesome. The Cranberry syrup/aperol/sparkling wine cocktail was a little too sweet for me even when I reduced the syrup some, but it is flavorful and fresh-tasting. I had the pork shoulder on spaetzle for dinner. The pork was so tender that I didn't need a knife. It was falling apart. It was basic as far as taste profile. The spaetzle was fine... not super flavorful. Dessert was wonderful and we tried pot du creme that was awesome and not super sweet, which I like. The cookies ornamenting the dish were crispy and a great touch. The apple strudel was full of cinnamon and was delicious. As I was traveling across the country, I ended up staying near Boulder and I wanted some dinner that might excite, comfort, and nourish me in a cozy space. I'm a big fan of Austrian and Bavarian cuisine, so when I found this place and all of its charming interior photos, I decided I absolutely had to come here for a meal and a beer. I was solo as usual, so I sat at a pub table off to the side, however I did not find it very comfortable because as a Shorty, my legs were dangling, also it was right in a very busy walkway for servers and I wasn't about that vibe after a long day of travel. So I requested to be receded and I was able to sit at a communal cable, which is what most of the seating is like there, and that between a few other parties. I actually found this to be quick cozy. I was amongst people but I could still keep to myself if I wanted to. I ordered one of my favorite meals, Yeager schnitzel, otherwise known as schnitzel with mushroom sauce, choosing my sides voraciously, with must-have mashed potatoes as well as something new, pickled red cabbage, and another add-on of the beets. Let me tell you this was one of the most near perfect meals I have ever eaten. Add on a tall glass of beer and dessert and honestly I was in heaven and really glad I chose to stay an extra night in Colorado. I ordered the apple strudel for dessert, and while not the traditional preparation, I'm actually going to go ahead and say this version was not only an improved arrangement, but more decadent and culinarily orgasmic than I could have anticipated. The crumble and the crust were perfectly crispy but the rest of the pastry was tender and the baked apples were plump and juicy. The balance of tartness, subtle sweetness, cinnamon spice, and homemade whipped cream was just heavenly. I was unable to finish it and decided this would make the perfect reheated breakfast in the morning at my lodging. Sadly I didn't leave myself enough of it for the next morning, but next time I know I'll order a second piece. I couldn't be mad at myself for trying to finish it the night before! Service was friendly, informative, and reliably attentive. The ambience was a friendly, dimly lit beer hall with an old world celebratory vibe, and I couldn't have been more in my element. My fiance and I came here to eat last night. We were seated up at the bar sharing a pretzel and having drinks while we waited for our table to open up. My fiance started to not feel well and I let the bartender know. He sprung into action and got him juice, fruit etc. The entire staff was incredible and so attentive to us. He started to feel better and we got seated. The bartender continued to check in on us and helped put our food order in for us. My fiance and I were so thankful for the whole team and how much they helped in this situation! Big shoutout to the bartender - we never got his name but we hope he sees this. Came in for some light bites by ordering the Giant pretzel with beer cheese and the Appel strudel. The pretzel is the best one I've ever had, you can tell that it is made fresh with soft pillowy dough and a hard exterior crust and lightly salted which is perfect in combination with the beer cheese. The apple strudel was also very delicious with layers of pastry, crisp Granny Smith slices and cinnamon walnuts for each bite. Hot chocolate was fun for the holidays and we loved the European Christmas character this place had for the holidays! Sadly in retrospect I went for lunch expecting the comfort and substance of German food and instead encountered one of the most dreadful dining experiences I can remember. This establishment bills itself as a German beer garden, though the term appears to be used very loosely--perhaps aspirationally. The pork schnitzel was an outright insult: dry, leathery, and completely tasteless, clearly made from a frozen, pre-breaded patty that had been reheated with all the care of a convenience-store microwave. There was no seasoning, no moisture, and no suggestion that it had ever met a pan with intention. It was accompanied by a cold, flavorless potato salad that seemed proud of its total lack of personality. The lone success on the plate was a cucumber salad pleasant, competent, and presumably prepared by someone who briefly cared. One can only speculate whether the chef had the day off, called in sick, or simply fled the premises. Alternatively, perhaps because it was lunch, no actual cooking staff was available and the kitchen was reduced to warming pre-made items and hoping no one noticed. There was no soul in this food, no respect for the cuisine it claims to represent, and no evidence that flavor was ever part of the plan. This was not cooking; it was assembly. I have had better, more flavorful, and more thoughtfully prepared meals at fast-food restaurants, where at least expectations are honest. The one bright spot was the server, who was attentive, prompt, and professional, repeatedly checking in and refilling water possibly out of sympathy. The beer seemed to satisfy other patrons, so perhaps this is a place to drink. It is absolutely not a place to eat. I left feeling cheated, disappointed, and mildly offended. They're a fusion of various countries like Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, and the owners homeland of the Czech Republic. The old historic building the restaurant sits in is the ideal setting for a place like this. The vaulted ceilings, the original bricks, and the reclaimed wood and light fixtures date back over 100 years! Beer here, or better yet, bier here! They make a few of their own in the traditional style, as well as guests taps from local breweries. The Biergarten Pils, brewed by Upslope, is a fantastic start to your meal, as well as a great accompaniment to this type of cuisine. Jager Schnitzel ($24) // choice of chicken or pork, served with creamy mushroom sauce, red cabbage, and choice of gruyere cheese fries or spätzle. I went pork and cheese fries based on the servers recommendation. The schnitzel was good, albeit overcooked and slightly dry. The gruyere fries were luxurious, rich, and filling! Das Pretzel ($11) // traditional Bavarian soft pretzel served with haus made mustards (+ bier cheese $3). Now I'll be damned. This is probably the best pretzel I've ever had. We had a big group of 10 in tow, and I think we all unironically made eye contact with each other as we bit into this with a shared look of "holy shit, this is phenomenal." ORDER. THE. PRETZEL. Staff were friendly, just a little slow at times to get refills, silverware, etc. It was graduation weekend so they were fairly busy early on in the day, so I get it. Ultimately the beer and the pretzel were the standouts for me, I just wish the schnitzel was more of a knockout. Our second visit this trip! I said we would and glad we came back! It was a cold snowy day (Easter Weekend and snowing!!!) And the cold beers were wonderful. I ordered the Goulash, it was so good. I usually don't care for German dumplings, often too gluteny/rubbery, but the one inside the goulash was so good! Consistency was more like a Matzah Ball. My son and husband had the Schnitzel (pork) and is was great the second time around especially their potato salad! We starter with the Pretzel as we had to.have their housemade mustards again! Sadly we were so disappointed with our recent visit that we're not sure we'll make an effort to go back. We previously loved this place so much that we'd drive in from Denver just to get a fix. The change from previous visits was so great that we assume there has been a change in owner, chef, or both; that, or the kitchen was having a really bad day! They have taken the gnocchi we loved off of the menu and only have one option that is bland and uninspiring. The chicken Schnitzel that we previously craved was lacking in flavor and the amount of gravy was stingy. The spaetzle was dry and lacking in flavor. Best beer spot in Boulder. The full liter beer is a must on a warm day and the outdoor seating is always nice in the Spring and Fall. The indoor dining area has a cozier atmosphere for cool fall nights or winter. It can be slightly loud but never to the point it's difficult to hear. More of a hangout spot than an intimate date location. The schnitzel is my go to item but most of the menu is really good. The service is always really good and we have never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a table. Having said that, a reservation is usually best later in the evening. read more

The only cheese was melted on top and the rest of appetizer was just dry pasta. My partner said the goulash was good and it was a large portion. I'm not going to say this was the most authentic German dining experience but it had the feel of an excellent tribute band. Reminds you of the original but special and different in their own way. The beer was fantastic and the Guinness was one of the smoothest I've had outside of the UK. Their polish pierogis were sensational and the schnitzel was excellent. However, the show stealer and what pushed this from a 4 to 5 star review was their take on apple strudel. I can see why Guy Ferrari liked it so much. Dreamlike in flavor profile! They weren't rushing us out by any means but this place is super busy!! I'll also say the outdoor seating right by the building was slightly uncomfortable. But anyway, loved the food we got. Between the two of us we split the czech gnocchi, jager schnitzel, and German potato pancake. the schnitzel was SO GOOD. Crispy and perfect with the mushroom sauce and spatzle. The Czech gnocchi was good with the bacon & cheese but I think it was actually super similar in taste to the spatzle so in hindsight I would have ordered something else like the perogies or pretzel. Unfortunately, the service made the experience uncomfortable. I was seated at a large communal table, and shortly after my food arrived (I had been eating for less than 20 minutes), a server brought me my check and a to-go box even though I hadn't finished my meal or drink. It felt like I was being rushed out. After I paid and tipped, another server came about 10 minutes later to remind me that other guests would be sitting at the table soon. I understand needing to accommodate large parties, but as a paying guest who had just received my food, it felt very rushed and not very welcoming.
