I was looking for a meat market near royal oak, as they are harder to find these days. We wanted a ham bone or the like for making soup. I searched online and found Steiners. What a gem! They have all kind of awesome meats, soups, gravies, deli foods, etc. After I asked one of the workers about a ham bone, the butcher walked over and suggested using a ham shank. You can't get that kind of service from Kroger etc. I heard they have city chicken with pork/veal available, but I forgot to get some. I WILL be going back to Steiners in the near future. read more

A great neighborhood market. They have quality meats; a treat is when we get a standing rib roast for special occasions. Have them do their rub and marinade, it it amazing. True one on one service, always a n experience. Don't forget to check out their frozen foods, they have meals made in the shop that are delicious. The breads and desserts are perfect. The Yelp reviews don't lie. This place is fantastic. The staff was incredibly helpful and informative. The bumpy cake was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I wanted a thicker cut of beef and got it with no issues. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of cow they offer. I used to trek out to RJs at Gratiot Central Meat Market but there is no reason now. One thing that blew my mind, I talked to some customers who had been coming there for decades AND they drive over 45 minutes to shop. I will preface this with the fact that my experience in meat markets is limited to Meijer and Kroger. Now I have only been to Steiner's a few times, but each time has been a perfect experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. The service is superb. And the prices for the quality of meat I purchase are great. Love this place! It is a family-owned butcher shop with a huge selection. Their bacon is really good as well as the sausages. We have also tried the pork roasts, beef roasts, chicken breasts, ground round, and deli turkey and they were all very good quality. We try to purchase all of our meat here now. Also, check out their freezer for some different items. We tried the chicken shepherd's pie and it was a great easy meal. The bakery items by the cash register are pretty solid. We did not like the brownies or the strawberry rhubarb pie, but the chocolate bumpy cake is amazing. We brought it to a party and everyone raved over it. The staff is always super friendly and it is awesome to support a local family. Some people say the prices are a little higher than Meijer or Kroger, but I think they are very similar and they have some great specials especially if you buy a larger quantity. read more

Purchased a four bone prime rib. Had it cradled, seasoned. My wife has been cooking prime rib for years on Christmas day. After meat was done we let it rest. Carved the meat. My wife likes it medium rare, the meat was like shoe leather. My daughter said her jaw hurt trying to chew this meat. There was no flavor at all. Medium rare should be tender no way, it was terrible. $100 down the drain. Must of been a bad piece of meat. read more

We had Steiners's roast a pig for us for a graduation party. The pig and the barbecue sauce were delicious. Everyone at the party really enjoyed it and Steiners's was very helpful and easy to work with. read more

This is not my primary meat market, but I do go here once a year to obtain supplies to make my annual Super Bowl Sandwiches; basically a hot ham and cheese and I usually make dozens of them. They've always been very helpful and patient; since I am making a large number of sandwiches, I must order the cheese by number of slices because I am not smart enough to estimate how much I need by weight. They do not seem to be annoyed by this, or at least they are successful at concealing it. I also custom order a quantity of onion buns that I pick up the morning of the Super Bowl which are always ready by my requested time and delicious. The staff has always been friendly and accomodating. I would go here regularly were there not another meat market much closer to me. read more

First visit today because it was the only place other than kroger(they freeze it) that I found Kowalski fresh kielbasa. Sean was nice enough to hold the last three pounds they had. We drove from commerce, and it was well worth it. Very clean and organized. The meat looked fresh and their pricing was reasonable. We bought a couple pounds of their inhouse fresh kielbasa, too. At $4.29 a lb. I'm looking forward to trying it. Will definitely make the trip back when we have more time. They carry Dearborn spiral sliced ham and Amish turkeys, I intend to put an advance order for both along with the fresh kielbasa, for Christmas. read more

Came in here on a whim. Picked up a roast and woman behind counter told me that I was going to cook it wrong! Thank goodness! Bought eye of round roast and cooked following her instructions.
