She is a local designer in Berkeley for 27 years, started the name of Two Star Dog, made with hemp fabric for women's fashion and made the first men's hem jean in USA. At her store there lot of unique style made with good quality fabric. My friend has been telling me about this place for years. She buys a lot of her clothes here. I just never asked her for the address. Then I randomly drove my one day and stopped by. They have beautiful shirts, skirts and pants. Some are one of a kind. And they are affordable. I asked Brittany a few questions about a project I'm working on and boy is she knowledgeable on fashion! There is almost nothing in this store that doesn't look amazing on my 5'9" size 14-16 frame. No matter your body shape you will find things that look amazing and feminine on you. Don't be fooled by the "drapey" voluminous look--the design is very well done to flatter the parts of your body you want to show off and well, distract from those you'd rather not emphasize. The fabrics are soft, well made, the tailoring is just incredible and the service is not to be beat. They'll tailor the garment, steam out any wrinkles before you leave, help you put together some fab new outfits, and otherwise just make you feel pampered and special. Stella herself is a dynamic force in fashion, utterly devoted to dressing "real women." And the prices at the outlet are fantastic--superb deals. I've shopped this place for a long time and continue to love it. As Two Star Dog years ago, they offered a lot of superior hemp, a fabulous and versatile fabric which feels more like a linen and wears like iron. (Someone there said they might be bringing more back into the line at some point.) Colors seem mostly neutral but they have beautiful shades of colors like blues and salmon that complement the basic white/black/beige standards. Agree with other reviewers about the great cut the clothing has, although I'm passing along one that was a bit to wonky. The unlined boiled wool jackets are my favorite, and come in beautiful colors. They breathe and are warm. I haven't seen any bargain bins for awhile with trashed clothing that some other outlets sell (a store on College comes to mind). The samples sales here are terrific though I think the size is almost always small (or tiny.) A large community dressing room in the near left corner of the large back room makes waiting for a room unnecessary. (Just walk in and pull the drapes) The whole place is gloriously roomy, so no cramped quarters. Finally, the staff are fantastic. Kind, and helpful, they make appropriate suggestions and will easily pull something from a rack as needed. They work it like a retail store. read more

Most of the clothes are plain and look like they're designed for older berkeley-type ladies, but I got a couple of nice purses there.

*First off- they get 5 stars because i found a natural fiber cardigan sweater for $20 that fit me well, wasn't made in China, and wasn't a horrible color.* Now to the review-- We were getting the car repaired nearby so we happened upon this store on our walk. We went in to find my mother-in-law a shirt or pants since this they were having a sale and I'd been here once before about 10 years ago. The clothes are too young for her and too "nice" for me (I'm strictly a t-shirt and jeans type), but I found a really great sweater for $20. It's labeled Large, but I'm an XL so things fit loosely here. I love love love that they use natural fibers and they're moving their factories from China (I'm a Tibetan sympathizer) and that they sell their "samples" for $20 or less. It's not a young store, but they do have one or two cute dresses and some nice accessories. read more

Hard to describe the styles here. Very typical Berkeley, in that they are casual contemporary in mostly cotton and linens, but not the hippie star child gauze skirts & tops you find on Telegraph. Prices are pretty reasonable with most things within $20-60. I picked up a really adorable top here recently. read more

What a wonderful surprise to find the factory store right here in Berkeley! My first encounter with Two Star Dog clothing was about 5 or 6 years ago in a small natural clothing and linens boutique halfway across the country. The styles were easy-to-wear beautiful, feminine and with a relaxed elegance. Luscious linens and rayons in lovely colors. Items you could wear to the office, a luncheon or out cocktails. A bit like J. Jill but more imaginative and less mass-produced. Though the styles seem to fit a variety of figure types they are also cut for women with shape - not for hip-less teenie boppers (thank you very much!). No, not every style will flatter every shape, but at least enough variety is offered that nearly every woman can find something that will fit her well. (Some lines or designers clearly design for only ONE figure-type and this can be quite frustrating if it is not YOUR figure type!) Boutique styles and quality, but don't expect a fancy store - cement floors and warehouse style ceiling make for no-nonsense but clean retail space. This is a true "factory outlet" store. I will caution about the bargain bins. While there are some great finds, you really must be alert - especially since these are non-returnable. Some are strange fashion experiments gone wrong. Some of the things I've seen in there area stained or damaged beyond repair and should simply be donated to a school's art or fashion department or tossed out and written off. Sometimes I look in there and think "Seriously? You want money for that?" You could pay far less at a garage sale for a "gently used" item in better condition. This is my one bugaboo about the place (oh, and the lack of a 3-way mirror), otherwise this is a 5-star store. Yes, the staff here is very nice. They are helpful without being pushy. It is always a pleasure to shop here and find something very nice, durable and stylish but not out-in-5-minutes trendy. Whenever I wear something I bought from there, someone always asks me where I got it. Just discovered this gem. Walked in on the sample sale and got two fabulous summer dresses for 39.00 each! I'm leaving for vacation in Hawaii and the dresses will be perfect. I love how friendly and helpful the staff are. I found the designs of the clothes to be casual but classy and the quality of the material is excellent. I am pleased to review this great local business. Though I lived in Berkeley for over 25 years, I'm new to the store this year. I assumed the clothes were all neutral in color and design and pretty small. There are some interesting colors and many items have XL with room to spare. I must say the staff are great. They offer help, but lay back if it seems you know what you are doing. Staff are very friendly and happy to give feedback or tell you more about sale items. They seem truly appreciative of customers. The store is spacious with lots of areas to find clothes in different colors, and from different seasons. Plenty of mirrors for checking out your look. All the way back is where to go for the best bargains. Their spring sale kicked off this afternoon for VIP customers and goes 5/22 to 6/8. Seriously. These styles rock! I am wearing all Stella these days as I can find the most flattering outfits for almost all occasions. I am at an age in my life where I want to look great as a professional and also to be COMFORTABLE. These clothes solve my problem. I LOVE these clothes - very unique cuts and styles and yet very versatile (wearable to many occasions) and comfortable too. There are some really special pieces and accessories along with some staples like leggings and plain cotton tops.
