I just used RAD appliance service for the first time based on the reviews i saw here. I had a dishwasher that wasn't cleaning our dishes thoroughly and it didn't have the obvious filter that all the other types of dishwashers have, so I couldn't try that myself. They texted me a suggestion first (for free), to run the clean cycle which i didn't know about. I tried that and it didn't work. Then they came out to inspect (2 people). It wasn't obvious at first, but my heater element was bent for some reason and impacting the ability for the blades to move around to clean. It was also keeping the water from achieving the correct temp. They spent about 1 hour diagnosing and told me they would order the part for me and let me know when it comes in. I said how much is it for you to come out and diagnose, they said we'll just bill you when we come back and fix it. At this point they ordered the part and paid for it themselves, and didn't charge me for a service call either. They didn't even have me sign anything. Then they called up 2 weeks later and said the part is in and asked when would i like them to come out and install it. They came out today, on schedule, (2 people again), installed it, and the price for the previous visit, new install, and the part itself was $270.00. 2 people coming out twice, mileage both ways, and buying the part themselves and only charging me $270.00 was incredibly reasonable. I've had two experiences with Luke, both extremely positive. The first time I contacted him regarding a squeaky clothes dryer. I had done my research and expected the problem to be a worn-out plastic spindle bushing. When Luke took my dryer apart, he found the source of the squeak was just the belt slipping on the drum, and that there was nothing to be done (the belt wasn't worn, he said the squeaking would stop on its own, and it did). I suspect he wasn't going to charge me for anything, but I offered to pay him for his time and he accepted a reasonable fee. The second time I contacted Luke was regarding a garbage disposal that stopped working. I described the problem to him over the phone and he told me to try steps A, B, and C. If X result, then the garbage disposal could be restarted, if Y result, then it would need to be replaced. It turned out to be X. And because I was able to reset the disposal on my own, I didn't need to enlist his services. Luke didn't have to tell me to try A, B, and C. He could have come over and, done A, B, and C himself, and charged me for it. But he didn't. That's the kind of integrity that deserves a positive review. The bottom line is: if Luke tells you that a certain job needs to be done, and the price is $$, you can believe him. read more

The text-only contact model is a little odd, and the cash, check or Zelle-only payment is also a little odd, but Luke is the most professional, easiest-to-work-with repair contractor I have ever encountered in my 60 years. He arrived exactly when he said he would (including keeping me posted as he got through his earlier appointments), had the part I needed on hand (I get the impression he has many of the most often needed parts on hand as a policy), and had the work done in less than 15 minutes. He answered every question politely and completely and explained his warranty in crystal clear terms. He's not the cheapest, but he's also not the most expensive, and he *is* the best. read more

Prompt, honest service and his explanation of what the repair entailed was clear and the quote gave potential scenarios after he actually could get into the machine. He was even friendly when a return visit for a tweak to the repair was needed, and returned the same day. Luke replaced a part at his own cost when his first repair needed further work. He did not charge me for labor for the 2nd call or for the extra part. He personally contacted me the next day to be sure the follow up repair worked after 5 consecutive loads. Luke is a throwback - an honest reliable tradesman. We were assigned RAD through our home insurance. He was clear as to his availability. The appointment was 5 days later, arriving when he said he would. He took all pertinent information over the phone beforehand and was prepared to repair our dryer on his visit and took care of the problem. We have used RAD/Luke for two other appliances, and on each visit, he is a thorough knowledgeable professional. As with all repairs, one must wait for parts and Luke will do his utmost to obtain them as quickly as possible to complete the repair. I would highly recommend him for any appliance needs. Luke arrive ahead of schedule on a Saturday morning and did some amazing detective work on my old, obscure Equator EZ 1500 Washer-Dryer combo unit. I was convinced that the expensive drain pump would need to be replaced, but Luke dug down deep into the inner workings and found a penny lodged in the gear inside the Drain Pump Housing. His extra effort saved me Big Bucks and there was no need to buy replacement parts. Later when my test load had some drainage problems, he returned free of charge to remove a sock that had found its way into the drain system...ALL SYSTEMS GO!!!! My Kitchenaid refer ice maker quit working and the ice melted onto the floor. After seeing reviews for RAD I called Luke. The best move I could have made. Luke and Tom came and quickly replaced the water valve which was faulty. Ice maker did not respond and Luke came back and found a clogged supply line was plugged. He made the repair at no charge and all is working again. This is the best by far repairman I have dealt with. His communication was top notch and they were a pleasure to have in my home. Luke was wonderful and extremely easy to work with. I came home from vacation to a non-working Subzero fridge, and within 2 hours of texting Luke about possible repairs he was at our place. He seems highly skilled but was open/honest about potential risks (e.g. working directly by water pipes), the most likely problem with the cooling system, and did not hesitate to recommend that we call a certified Subzero tech instead. In the end because he wasn't able to repair the fridge, he refused to accept the service fee. Overall a great guy and I'd be happy to call him back for other repairs in the future. read more

Luke of RAD Appliance is fantastic. Our refrigerator stopped working recently. Luke came out to take a look. He diagnosed the problem, explained it all to us. A part had to be ordered and so he was able to get it working temporarily for us until he could return with the part. We really appreciated that, tough not having a working frig. Luke returned a few days later with the part and had our frig fixed in no time. Luke was very polite and knowledgeable. He was running a bit late on one of his trips and he called to let us know. Needed to have my freezer repaired. Called one repairman and he never came out, never called back. Just left us hanging. Found RAD on a search and called. He was here on Tuesday, ordered parts and was back installing them by Friday. Super impressed. Neat, clean and professional. He came to our home, which is not in his normal service area. He called late Friday night to make sure things were working correctly. Will recommend him to all our friends. So happy to have my freezer up and running again. read more

RAD Appliance. I was so pleased with their service. I received same say diagnosis of my appliances. Luke ordered the parts and was back at my house within 2 days. Luke's work was quick and efficient. Highly recommend if you want to work with people who charged a lot to replace a part on my washer that then malfunctioned causing my water bill to sky rocket. Extra points for being condescending. After going to the trouble of having my property assessed for water leaks because RAD claimed the washer couldn't be using that much water. I had someone else replace the part and now my water usage is back to a low normal. I don't recommend working with people who won't at least acknowledge a mistake. read more

Luke was quick to respond and was able to schedule an appointment to check out my tenant's fridge that wasn't cooling properly the following day. It turned out that the fridge was not repairable, but rather than recommend the expensive fix, he said that it should be replaced.
