Have been with them because they were match with my insurance. They get the job done. The staff is nice, and courteous, the facilities are clean, and there has not been any major errors (Thank God)! But, One time I was told I had a cavity, so I was asked to make a follow up appointment, there were no appointments available but 2 weeks ahead and during a week day. Coordinated with work to get there, when I got to Stellar Dental the Dentist said I did not have a cavity so I shouldn't to be seen. (I'm not a dentist but that was weird) Another time, I arrived to my appointment to find out that Stellar Dental was no longer in the same location, there were no signs, I was not notified, nothing. I called them, it was hard to get a hold of someone other than the machines. Eventually, another staff from another office in the same building saw me, and told me Stellar Dental had moved. Once I was told they would send me an email for a referral and I had to call 3 times and ask them for the referral before I finally got it. Overall, that took about 45 days. Very Important! Stellar Dental sends appointment confirmation texts and emails. The confirmation text message says: "reply YES to confirm your appointment, and the email says click here to confirm your appointment" so you reply and click thinking your appointment is good to go. Nope! You have to reply to the text, reply to the email, and call them back when they call to confirm, or your appointment will be given to someone else. Stellar Waiting time varies from 15 minutes in from your appointment to an hour before you are even seen, so keep that in mind when planning the time you will spend there. Even if you arrive 10 minutes ahead of time and it is just a cleaning. I have seen Dr. Gotora once and it was a positive experience. read more

I've had a great experience with this place. We are new to the area and needed a dentist for the whole family that accept tricare. This place came highly recommended by the military community around here. So I got myself and my two kids scheduled. I was so happy that they were able to squeeze us in over the next couple weeks. My daughter and I were even able to get our appointments back to back! The last time my daughter (she's almost three years old) had a dental appointment, she wasn't scared. But she did refuse to open her mouth. For this appointment, I tried to talk her her beforehand about what she'd have to do. I think it helped that my appointment was first, so she could see what would happen and how easy it was. It was also great that they turned on an educational YouTube show for her. She was happy to sit and watch, occasionally glancing over at me or holding my hand. For her appointment they kept her so entertained! She was happy to wear the glasses they gave her and hold on to the toothbrush she got to take home. They were able to do a full blown cleaning with the adult tools because she sat still and kept her mouth open. I returned a week later for my five year old son. We had no problem getting an appointment later in the day because of him being in school. They did a few X-rays just to get a look (his mouth is still a little small to get those bite wings in there). His cleaning was fast and smooth! Went to Stellar Dental to check my teeth week ago. my teeth was terrible. the first step was to do the X-ray the gentleman that Xrayed my teeth was wonderful! and clean by Samrawit. She is really amazing, so nice and helpful. she was excellent with her professional services. I highly recommend Samrawit for anyone who needs a great cleaning and extremely fast. today was my next visit to see stellar for deep cleaning by Dr. Ermias.. i heard about him from my friend Meaza recommended. Samrawit the hygienist was awesome! She took me in right on time and cleaned my teeth very well! I was very satisfied with her service and she was very kind and gentle throughout the entire appointment. I highly recommend Sammy for anyone who needs a great cleaning! The staff here is so kind. From the Doctors to the receptionist everyone gave a positive attitude. Not only was the experience pleasant, (especially considering it was for a dental emergency) The procedure I needed done was done in a prompt manner, and was done really well. As the dentist Dr Allen Gotora is working, you can tell he knows what he is doing, and he does his job wonderfully. I know from now on any and all dental procedures I need done, this will be my first stop. But even if it is an emergency try to call before showing up, they are really good about keeping slots open for emergency patients, but it always helps to call and check first. :) read more

Dr. Gotora is great. He takes his time to talk to me and to understand and answer any questions I have. This company has changed my view of a visit to the dentist. I used to stay away because of bad experiences in the past but since I found Stellar Dental and took care of all major dental issues I had, I'm there every 6 months for routine checks. I also like that they have two convenient locations. The staff at both offices is great. Keep up the good work. read more

They made a HUGE ERROR (that is being NICE!) at my second visit EVER on 05/17/2017 (my prior one was for my first visit/cleaning on 05/10/2017)! I want to give them -999,999,999,999 stars or more! I had written MULTIPLE TIMES in my patient intake packet AND had told the doctor (the Asian dentist Dr. Zho. I think Is how you spell his name and there may be two but he is the one that saw me both times and made this error I could sue him for!) AND the tall, sandy blonde, overly sweet female dental technician about my allergy to Novocain and ALL other epinephrine based drugs, INCLUDING Lidocaine! At my first visit he acted genuinely understanding and knowledgeable of my situation and mentioned he just had a patient for other reasons could NOT handle Novocain and/or other epinephrine based drugs (I believe due to a heart condition) and so he had non-epinephrine based Carbocaine! I was elated that he had it as up until that point NONE of my other dentists had it in their office and so I had to be drilled with NOTHING (not that I minded as I have an "EXTREMELY" high pain tolerance as when I get drilled raw I feel like regardless the amount of teeth needing fillings it takes 5-10 minutes and not 45-60 minutes and I tended to feel it more when "drugged")! Epinephrine based drugs have a catch-22 side effect in people with epilepsy and seizure medications because they can cause dizziness side effects in some users similar to those they are supposed to prevent (grand mal seizures for instance but as the side effects mostly "mimic" such events luckily when I had my first bad reaction 6 years ago I was able to make it back to the dental office as I was cognizant to get back to them unlike an "a-typical" grand mal where a lack of cognizance from the person seizing is the norm). The doctor claimed that he understood enough about my "allergy" (some docs call it a "sensitivity") as it is one of those things they "test" again after one bad reaction and use any of those types of drugs on you again knowingly due to the complications one bad reaction could cause! He told me when I got the fillings done there would be ZERO pain killer used during my visit (carbocaine or otherwise), unless I felt I needed it! After he started, if I felt I needed it I would be allowed to stop him and he would give me Carbocaine and NOTHING ELSE (just like he did with the other patient I mentioned earlier)! Instead, he did NOT ask me about my Novocain issues that I had CLEARLY printed on the front page of my packet and instead of joking about his 4 y/o and should have been checking! I LITERALLY had to yank the needle out once he started injecting me (he didn't tell me what it was)! I was like there is a needle in my lip and he was all yeah there is and it was FINE like it was NOTHING! I literally yanked his wrist out to the point of smacking it in the cabinets and told him I could have sued you! I told you last time and you understandingly said in front of witness(es) that you would NOT DRUG ME! I sat in the office waiting room for the side effects to die down and they wouldn't and in that time he came out and acted like he understood nothing on why I could have physically had this reaction as our bodies produce epinephrine naturally and as a result such an issue can't occur, even though with over exposure to anything it can send anyone into "overdrive" of sorts regardless of preexisting conditions/meds they are on! At the first visit he seemed to comprehend that! I ALSO told their receptionists I was NOT coming back and so to give up all my information and my father's and have NO CREDIT as there is NO ACCOUNT to be had and if they kept it I would not only sue for injury but illegal holding of information I asked them to dispose of! The first time I encountered the black, female receptionist (I don't know if they have another) was snarky and acted like it's NOTHING for me to have two addresses and wouldn't let me explain that it's due to me no longer live at home but it makes it easier if my state ID has their address in case I go to the ER for something stupid like this, billing which they help with, etc. and my current place in Silver Spring is on insurance to make getting new insurance stuff easier. She just acted like it was "cool" I was on my own and told me nothing on how the dual addresses would work towards billing (AKA if they could just send the bill to my dad or would just do the things covered or something else) at my first visit and just said on the bill this is what's covered and not covered! They never gave me info on the billing policies and not being able to mail my dad a bill until 5/17 when they drugged me and not at my first visit! SUCH INCOMPETENCE! My old office was difficult to get to in Hillandale (Hillandale Smiles) and a LONG walk off of the bus behind the Coca-Cola Factory but were NEVER this incompetent! They still have my dad's money saying it would be "credit" for an account I told them NOT TO KEEP as it or I'd sue! read more

I am so disappointed with how I have been treated at Hyattsville location. I called with an emergency to take my wisdom tooth out due jaw pain, but they did not have an appointment that can accommodate my work schedule. I stated I needed Thursday because that's when I can take off and have enough time to recover. Guess what the receptionist tells me? We gave you options and the doctor can do it here so we can't referral you to another dentist. I find another dentist that can take me the same week and all they needed was that referral. They contact Stellar Dental and they say they will send over the referral. The day before my surgery, the referral is still not send over so I called to make sure that they do it before they leave. I gave my email so they make sure to send it. Thursday morning and am at the other dentist office for my procedure and they did not send anything. This is unacceptable and ridiculous for them to treat a patient like this when it's an emergency and clearly I will be coming back to them. However, they did not want another dentist to take the job from them and instead now they have lost a patient completely. Based on my experience, I will not recommend anyone because after all this no one wants to apologize and take responsibility. You can continue to make excuses, but YOU DID NOT take care your patient. read more
