What a little local gem we found while traveling from Outer Banks to Raleigh! Stopped here for breakfast and it ended up being so much more. This place isn't very big but it is just cozy and comfortable right when you walk in! The owners are just charming and southern hospitality is sure next level here! The owner makes the best frosted cinnamon rolls I have ever had! We had biscuits and gravy and the best Swiss cheese mushroom omelette! Everything was homemade and served with friendly conversation! I'm so excited to give this restaurant 5 stars. We dined here for breakfast and our food was delicious. The home potatoes are excellent. We also had veggie omelettes and bacon which again exceeded expectations. Caroline and Paul were very friendly and welcoming and made us feel like we were at home. This is definitely a go-to when I'm in Plymouth again! This review was from 2023. Happy to share that I came back to Stella's today and it was just as Amazing as the 1st time. Stopped for breakfast on way back home from Outer Banks. Nice quiet little diner downtown. Extremely friendly staff. Food was well prepared and hot. We both had omelets and just the right size we could finish with no leftovers. Would definitely stop again when in the area. read more

First time being here and it was terrible. We're not locals so it took an hour to get our food. Waited an hour for my food just for there to be the hair in my eggs. They served other people before us that came after us. The guy thankfully changed out my food but it still tasted terrible. never stopping here again. There are not a lot of Sunday morning dining choices in this part of the state so we were very glad to have found good reviews on Yelp during our way out of Edenton, NC. Plymouth was just about 30 mins out on our way home. This is a small diner mixed with a gifty sort of antique style shop in downtown Plymouth, NC. The drinking cups were so cute. The bacon was perfect. The home fries (potatoes) were really good and the strawberry preserves were amazing! We even bought some preserves and apple butter to take home. Overall, we had a good experience! We'd go back if we are ever in that area again. read more

We found this sweet little gem in downtown Plymouth. Mark and Kay were very friendly and kept the great coffee flowing and serve a large bowl of water to our dog. We enjoyed outdoor seating and our breakfast included eggs, grits, toast and homemade strawberry jam. YUM. Plymouth sits along the Roanoke River and my husband and dog took a stroll on the river walk upon a recommendation from Kay. The warm and welcoming atmosphere was so refreshing. read more

Love the breakfast at Stella's! Where else can you get the classic southern spread while browsing vintage wares on Plymouth's river front? This place is super cute with the building's original china cabinets filled with fun items from the past, all for sale! Breakfast and lunch are generous portions of classic North Carolina favorites with a few special things done Stella's way. Pancakes are a specialty here, and the bacon and sausage are both great. The strawberry jam served with toast is some of the best I've had, and if you ask nicely and supply allows, you can buy a jar of your own (along with other baked goodies at the counter)! The thrifting continues in their second room which is a combination of overflow/large party dining and more gently used or handcrafted items. On the way back from OBX, this is a fantastic breakfast or lunch stop. Get off the main Route 64 with all the fast food crap and head into Plymouth on Main along the river. We had great service and our breakfasts were all really good. We ordered the French toast special as a table share and holy cow so big and so good! The place looks like it may have been a clothing or jewelry stores decades back with the wood and glass display cases. They are full of glassware and antiques. We located and purchased a 1880 almanac! Pretty cool. Plymouth this weekend was hosting drag boat races on the river which was super cool. We also found out that the biggest festival weekend in town is the annual Black Bear Festival. Anyway, as always it pays to head into the great towns that predate the highways. read more

A definite place to stop if you are looking for a breakfast or lunch stop on your way to OBX. This place is like eating in your grandma's kitchen. Quaint interior and feel. Menu is pretty straight forward and has good options. Daily specials and soups are listed on a little board by the door. Stella herself waits on you and she is as cute as can be! I ordered the lasagna special which included bread, salad and sweet tea for under $7. The salad was no frills but good. The lasagna was a huge portion and tasty. Good flavor! Other people in our party got the cheesburger and the BLT. Both were good homecooking! Prices are very reasonable with the most expensive item under $8. Stella also bakes the cakes and cookies. We travel and we want to support local businesses. This is the worse restaurant we have ever been to in all our travels. The place just has a few tables, so we sit at a table along wall for two. The waitress was not friendly and the cook was dirty looking and cared less. We ordered egg, Sausage and toast, fifty mins later no food. A local man came after us and got his food right away. The waitress would refill local people's coffee but would walk right pass us. Almost hour, I asked if they lost our order and she said no. We just left the $2 for drinks and left. The dirty looking cook must prepare one thing at a time and kept walking off and looking around. Please safe yourself the aggravation and so Not support this restaurant that doesn't care about customers unless it is local guy. Another table of locals the unfriendly waitress didn't bring them silverware and one food order at a time, like the hamburger and later one fry. We stopped in Stella's for a quick lunch on the way down to the Outer Banks. It is a small town café that serves breakfast and lunch. The menu is simple with mostly breakfast items and sandwiches with a few entrees such as salmon cakes and lasagna. My turkey club sandwich was very good with crisp bacon and fresh veggies. My sister had the salmon cakes and said they were delicious. We are planning a day trip to Plymouth soon and Stella's will almost certainly be our stop for lunch. read more

Great place to stop for lunch after a 10am check out from the Outer Banks beach house - about a 2 hour drive gets you here right at lunch time. Complete old fashioned throw back cafe diner that will take you back to the 1970s. Meat loaf, club sandwiches, canned green beans, and the like. Of course we all got the peach cobbler. read more

A very nice stop for lunch after a visit to the Port of Plymouth museum down the street. The service was top notch from two friendly ladies. There were daily specials available too. I had the cabbage loaf, which was meatloaf with two layers of cabbage and topped by a homemade tomato sauce. Had never heard of cabbage loaf and was told it was created as a way to get veggies in the kids without them knowing . Came with mashed potatoes and a roll. The chef kindly accommodated our diet by allowing me to substitute in broccoli. It was delicious and the portion of cabbage loaf was generous. In a sleepy little town about a mile off the main path you will find Stella's. When you look at the exterior you will see the clock has stopped as has time inside the restaurant. We found this local gem and what luck! We had planned a day adventure, and were looking for a good meal, on our way to our destination. Filled with lots of vintage goodies, the cafe was a treasure itself. The food was a wonderful bonus. I had meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, & green beans. My husband had hamburger steak with gravy, corn and fried apples. Every dish was delicious. It was truly good home cooking. Homemade desserts were offered as well, but sadly, we were too full. We went there on Thursday for lunch on the way to Edenton NC. It definitely has the home town feel. I got two hotdogs with chili, slaw and mustard. It came with chips. My husband got the ham and cheese cold. It came on white bread. Nothing fancy but he did say that the ham was of good quality. It was a good lunch but I didn't think it was 5 stars.
