This is a local little diner in what used to be a downtown area. Most of the Buildings are abandoned now. Everyone was super nice. The furnishings were well worn but cozy. Tonight's special was pork chops. The menu sports mostly seafood items and that's what we came to eat. My husband and I both chose the (fried) shrimp and flounder. Dinners come with Cole slaw and fries. We were delighted to also get 3 hush puppies (we are big fans of the pup). The seafood was lightly breaded and it tasted "fresh". Unfortunately the sides were not too great. The cole slaw had a large amount of pickle relish in it. Th fries were "meh".........fish and pups were winners. The sweet tea was also delicious. Stick with the seafood here.........Next time we are gonna try Golden Skillet Fried Chicken on 64. It was packed. read more

This is a relaxing, quiet spot right along the "main drag" and just a few yards from the Roanoke River. The flounder, lightly breaded, is usually accompanied by coleslaw, but I asked for a small salad instead. The salad was fresh and crisp, the fish was good and the service was quite prompt. It was a nice, light lunch. I'd like to come back and try their steak. read more

Plymouth is a small town along the Roanoke River. The historic downtown is two streets that have managed to keep the majority of the buildings intact and in good condition. If you're on your way to the Outer Banks on highway 64 its a great stop, just off the highway in downtown Plymouth. There aren't many options, outside of your standard fast food joints along the route from the I-95 (just west of Rocky Mount) to the Outer Banks along 64 so if you're in the area when they are open, definitely stop by. Friendly service will await you and a good menu full of standard lunch fare or some southern/coastal favorites for dinner. Sweet unassuming cafe. Daily menus provided along with historical facts for that particular day. Wide selection - salads, sandwiches, seafood, and entrees. Daily specials relate to at least one of the historical facts. Waterfront Plymouth, NC. Restaurant is in an old store front in historic Plymouth, NC. Looks like the town is working on revitalizing. The interior of the restaurant is a bit hodge podge which is part of the charm. We ordered fried chicken with baked mac & cheese, fried squash and a biscuit, bowtie pasta alfredo including grilled chicken, carrots and broccoli with a side salad, grilled chicken sandwich & fries and ceasar salad. Everything was very good - pasta and fried chicken entrees were like eating at Grandma's. Definitely worth stopping there when in the area. Oh, and DESSERTS! Got the lemon mist cake, peach cobbler and cheesecake. Make room for dessert. Also, nice walk to the light house and museums along Roanoke River. Get off the beaten path, and stop in. read more

This restaurant is an oasis in the food desert that marks US 64 between the Triangle and OBX. I am on a diet, but found a really tasty Shrimp Louis sakad. Nice greens (no ice berg lettuce), hard boiled eggs and perfectly cooked asparagus topped with a dozen (count them) lemon pepper seasoned shrimp. $8.95. Excellent! The non-diet fare looked scrumptious and ever diner seemed happy with his or her choice. The service was fast with a big dose of southern niceness. I will be stopping here in the future. read more

A sign out front would be a big help. We could see nothing that said Garden Spot and had to check Google. My burger was not good at all, just a cheap frozen patty. I could have had that at McDs. My husband's potato salad was inedible. The decor was trying to be homey but just seemed cluttered. The back hall way into the bathrooms and the bathrooms themselves were seriously creepy. We were mostly disappointed in the food though. We go through Plymouth all the time- we live on Hatteras island- and hated the base assumption that we were tourists just passing through. We could have been regulars but...no. It's not their fault, but Plymouth is a truly sad little southern downtown. I recommend, unfortunately, just staying out on the highway. Stopped by this little town for lunch. We decided to have lunch here. My husband had the Fried Pork Chops, which was the special. He loved it. He ate the entire thing. I had the Fried Oysters. It was really good. Now the best part of the meal was the dessert. The chocolate cake was great but the Lemon Iceboy Pie was fabulous. I wanted to ask for more. This place has a very hometown feel to it. We were passing through as tourists, but there was a mixture of locals in jeans and work boots, and some in suit and tie carrying laptops. The food was good. "Daddy's oyster platter" did not disappoint. Oysters were perfectly fried and accompanied by fries, hushpuppies and very interesting slaw. The Quartermaster was also very good and came with a red skinned potato salad that had the same dressing as the slaw. Kind of vinegary, and sweet. We didn't have dessert, though we were tempted. If/when we go back, we'll definitely save room. We like to support privately owned businesses rather than chains, so we were happy to drive a few minutes off the main road to do so. read more

Perfect place on the way to the beach. Can't go wrong with the fried pork chops when they are on special. They are boneless to boot. The only recommendation I would have would to be to clear up the clutter that is visible to the public. It's not dirty just some spacers seem cluttered. read more

Wow - This place is awesome. Some of the best lunch you will find anywhere. Freshly prepaired and like home cooked. The service is the best. All of the staff is very friendly and happy to serve. Dinner is Wed. thur Sunday and they serve Steak and very fresh seafood. Ive eaten here multiply times and have never been disappointed. If your in the Plymouth area, dont miss out on The Garden Spot. Great small town family restaurant with quaint garden decor. Service was super friendly & good, food fantastic. I had a tuna steak grilled & lightly seasoned. No idea how they made it taste so great. The Garden Spot Cafe is a true jewel! They are open most weekdays for lunch and Wed. -Fri for dinner. Sunday they have a great lunch buffet. I have never had a bad meal here and I eat there often and frequently! The owners are super nice and so is the staff. The food is delicious, especially the seafood and wraps, and reasonably priced. If you are tired of fast food make a point to visit the Garden Spot, you will not be disappointed. read more
