Desert Edge Brewery - Thai salad with red curry beef skewers. Needs more flavor and a dipping sauce

Exposed brick, industrial charm with neat character. Brewery equipment can be seen through their windows. We ordered ourselves up some beers; they have a nice assortment on tap. I enjoyed a Happy Valley Hefeweizen, with a lemon wedge. Crisp and refreshing. No wonder it was Utah's very first GABF gold medal winner! My husband ordered a couple lagers. For the 20 oz, it was only $1 more than the pint. :) I ordered the l open-faced sirloin sandwich, and it was heavenly. A delightful umami bomb. Served atop two pieces of fresh focaccia, it had a tarragon sauce, then a bed of tender sirloin strips, topped with sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions, then crispy scallions over the top with blue cheese crumbles. It was delightful. My french fries were a little cold, but tasty nonetheless. Generous portions, with a tasty side of fry sauce. My husband ordered the special, a blackened chicken and pepper-jack sandwich. It was delicious too. It had flavorful sautéed chilies and caramelized onions, with a chipotle aioli. The chicken was cooked just right. I had a bite, and it was awesome. He ordered the side salad with blue cheese dressing, and it looked good. Lots of garden veggies. The dessert menu said all their desserts are made using the classic recipes from the old Red Butte Cafe. We split a slice of the Chocolate Decadence, a flourless chocolate cake. It was a nice dense dessert, with satisfyingly rich semi-sweet/bittersweet chocolate layers. It's important to note the service. The waitstaff were very quick to return with things we requested (napkins, beers, cake, etc), and were super friendly. Different people waited on our table, which confused me for a split second, but we ended up really liking that about them. They were all working together as a team. Excellent service, and very personable. Thank you, we will be back! If weather cooperates, I look forward to dining outside next time. :)

They have kept the basics from back in the day, their Rare Roast Beef Sandwich, their pasta salads, and their French Onion Soup, are three of the menu that have survived time and are still great choices... I highly recommend The Pub, for a place to get a bite to eat and a drink.

First impressions walking in the vibe is nice, love an open concept kitchen, that way you can really see the efficiency and flow of the staff and that brings a bit of liveliness to the atmostphere. I started off with an Limey Palmer, absolutely delish, loved the crunchy sugar that they mix into the drink for optimal sweetness. As an Arnold Palmer gal this hit the spot. Bonus points for giving me to go cup so I could take the rest with me. For food I got the biscuit Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was a pretty lemony, but I really did enjoy it. In fact, I loved it's so much I came back the following weekend for the same thing, absolutely fantastic. The biscuit with all the fixings was absolutely delightful. Had me thinking about it for a week! 10 out of 10 Benedict from here.

The Raspberry Limeade was delicious. The "loaded" Bloody Mary, with a ridiculous skewer of cheeses, bacon, tomatoes, pickles, and a pickled egg, was great and drew stares from around the room when it was served. The Sleazy Egg Sandwich (sausage, eggs, onions, and a decadent sauce) was terrific. The sauce is killer on it. The Hoss (chicken, eggs, bacon, cheese, and gravy on a biscuit) is a heart attack waiting to happen but this is a fantastic dish. The hash browns are excellent but if you want to take them to the next level, get the loaded hash browns which come with bacon, green onions, and cheese. Is there anything they do not do well? I would gladly work my way through this entire menu, if my heart could stand it.

I moved on later to Salt Lake, Oregon, and now Arizona. I'm a foodie, and not easily impressed by a burger and fries. Slow Bar in Portland did it. They made their own bun, house made ketchup, house pickle, fresh cut fries, fresh ground beef. Amazing. I have to admit, I wasn't very hungry, but the kids wanted to bring their family up for a Burly Burger. I tasted one and was blown away! But that's not this review. Chicken strips. Everyone does them. Often they're way too big and over cooked, more like eating salty cardboard. These were big, but perfectly seasoned, breaded, and cooked. Juicy. I mean perfect;y cooked and still juicy and tender! I told my family these were the best chicken strips I had ever tasted in my life. I don't know what kind of voodoo you do do, but I will be back. Hopefully multiple times. I want a burger, everyone raved. But I really want your chicken strips again and again and again! Let me add as well... the French fries were perfection! No wonder it was busy on a Thursday night. It is that good!

I had the salad along with a kids order of chicken fingers and fries. Hey, no judging my order - I wanted the extra protein. The chicken was great. Tender, hot, and actually tasted like someone cared when they made it. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, and the fries came out hot and perfectly crispy. The staff was friendly, the dining room was clean, and overall the food was absolutely worth coming in for. But we need to talk about the music. Good grief. Sappy, mopey, somebody-cheated-on-somebody country music was BLASTING through the dining room. I came in for chicken fingers and a salad. I did not come in to find out that Earl left Tammy for her sister, took the pickup truck, kept the dog, and now somebody is drinking whiskey alone on the porch wondering where it all went wrong. Song after song. Heartbreak. Cheating. Regret. More heartbreak. At some point I wasn't sure if I should order dessert or call an ex and apologize for something. Burley Burger, your food is too good for this level of emotional damage. Change the music and change your stars. Quote that. Give us something upbeat. Something fun. Something that makes people want to hang out, enjoy their burger, and order another round of fries. Because the food? Great. The staff? Great. The restaurant? Clean and comfortable. The soundtrack? I think it needs a hug.
