My brokerage featured him in a meeting regarding Prop 19 and real estate, I felt like we'd be in a safe pair of hands. Bob Lamm was cordial and voiced a willingness in the meeting to look over the trust and make recommendations. My mother left the documentation with him and told him that his expertise was valued and while not in a rush, we would the trust to be updated. He agreed and accepted the bound documents. One month went by, then another, nothing, not a phone call, no response whatsoever; I was so surprised to be dropped like that without a notion of what was happening. Honesty is the best policy, if the trust was not worth his time, Bob Lamm could have expressed this in a diplomatic fashion, my mother, while proud of her well organized leather bound trust is under no illusion that it is anything more than modest size and we would not be offended if he had been forthright and honest and recommended another company. Instead, I phoned the office 2.5 months after the initial meeting and left a message with the reception that we hadn't heard anything from Bob Lamm and that I would like to come by and pick up the trust. No response! A few weeks pass and I call the office again and ask when I can come by...the reception replies to my query says, "Oh, it's here, up in front". Really???? All the sensitive documents have been sitting up at the reception desk for goodness knows how long with NO ATTEMPT to contact me and let me know it is there? Wow. Wow. Message received, our business is not needed nor welcome. Bob Lamm's behavior was appallingly unprofessional and possibly in violation of some privacy protocols. Perhaps you'll have better luck with Cummins and White than we did...especially if your trust is worth more money.

We needed to find an office that could fit her in within the next couple of weeks. We browsed through the Yelp app and found that The Law Offices of Paul Horn had a lot of 5 star reviews. I called their office and spoke with their receptionist. She was very knowledgeable and we felt comfortable coming in for a free consultation. Luckily, my sister booked an appointment for the following week. When we arrived at their office, we had a bit of a wait. It was longer than expected but in the end, it was totally worth it. We were greeted by Paul and he began to discuss the purpose of the Trust. He explained the step by step process that she would go through. My sister had many questions and Paul was very patient. He answered each question, which definitely put my sister's mind at ease. Everything was displayed on a large screen as he walked her through the process. He also asked pertinent questions to ensure that everything would be done to protect her children's best interests/inheritance etc. Once we finished the consultation, my sister proceeded with the process to begin drafting her Trust. We came back a couple of weeks later. However, prior to our second appointment, their legal assistants called to make sure that they had the correct names and order in which things should fall under when the time comes. My sister ended up making some changes to her Trust during that second appointment. Once everything was done, they sent in the notary to complete the process. We left with a binder, flash drive, and small business card that listed my sister's Trust on it. We also left with peace of mind. This was a long time coming, and it needed to be done. It also helps that their price for the process to write the Trust is comparable to other law offices. In the end, we were glad to have finally completed the process. The convenience of the location and their ability to accommodate us within a short time period made life easier for my sister. Other law offices had appointments 3 to 4 weeks out! We are grateful to have been able to get this all done in a timely manner. We also thank Paul for exercising extreme patience with us, because my sister had a lot of questions. It's often scary to go through a process that prepares for life's unfortunate events, but this office definitely put my sister's mind at ease.

As his website states, they offer preparation of legal documents but they are not attorneys. The fees are more affordable. We initially set up an appointment in person and we brought my mom with us to his office in Los Alamitos. The office is across the street from Los Alamitos Elementary school and it's on the second floor. Robert made it easy for all of us to understand and explained some of the terms and what things meant. After your initial appointment, we stayed in communication via email and had one Zoom call with him. When we were ready we set up another in-person appointment to notarize our documents.
