Going to the dentist is not always the best experience but I really like this practice and have recommended it to other friends and family in the area. The staff are extraordinarily helpful, the doctors and technicians are thoughtful, speedy, and professional. The first time I went in, I needed a little bit of work done and they did it right there and then. They checked on pricing for me given my insurance before we moved forward and the work was done quickly and painlessly (which has not been my experience in the past). I had an appointment here for exam and other work. The dentist I saw was nice and seemed very confident.my problem: I felt like a transaction and not a patient. I've decide not to return. As a paying customer with really great insurance. I want a deserve to be treated respectfully as a patient. Not a billable transaction for a play on my insurance. read more

Other reviews on this site seem to be paid for. I went in for a simple root canal, post and cap. Because of the way they scheduled things, i had to take off work 7 times. They have no evening or weekend hours, and the dentist and endodontist cant seem to schedule appointments on the same day. After 7 visits, i still do not have a permanent cap on the tooth. I had no issues with the actual work done and this dentist would probably be fine if all you ever do is get you bi-yearly cleaning, but if you have any actual dental work that needs to be done, go somewhere else. read more

I have never been to this dentist. However, somehow he got my information and sent me a text message marketing his practice to me disguised as a "special day" wish. Misuses of PHI is illegal. I have heard from friends that he claims that you have a mouth of cavities and then drills your mouth, charges you out of pocket and you have permanent pain. Worst of all, your dentist shouldn't be drilling anymore. There is an FDA approved product that remineralizes teeth. This office is a scam to take your cash. Seek a second opinion if this office tells you how bad your teeth are and that you need to be drilled. What they really want is to drill into your pocket for your cash. read more

Tomicka Jackson-George is the absolute best - she is patient, kind and very good at what she does. She tells you exactly what the steps are for any procedure, and then continues to tell you what she is up to while she is working on you - I love this, as you are never wondering what is going on or when the drilling/etc will begin. Is it okay to think of going to the dentist like going to the club? And what about actually liking your dentist and his entire staff and loving all the new modern amenities that the office has to offer? I have an unnatural fear of dentists and REALLY don't like the idea of strangers poking around in your mouth and then making accusatory or investigative "hmmphs" to themselves while they explore, but Dr. Mastella and Dr. Rodriguez are the first and only dentists I've enjoyed seeing, even when they told me that I had to have my wisdom teeth removed cuz "one is wicked impacted and is going to hurt like a mutha when they take it out". The offices are clean and modern and the entire staff is friendly, and if you have good insurance, they will offer you twilight while you have your teeth cleaned. I made a mistake by the choosing this dentist based on the reviews on this web site. My spouse and I went together to visit Dr. Mastella's office today. We both walked out feeling like we had the worst dental cleaning experience ever. The staff was not most professional acting, the office was like a warehouse and the quality of our cleaning was disappointing. We both felt the same way. We're not returning. read more

Sad to be leaving Dr. Mastella's practice after 2+ years here, but alas they do not take our new insurance. My husband and I have both come here regularly for check-ups and have always left happy. Great staff, very little time waiting, and I love the warehouse/brick row home feel rather than the typical stark dentist office. I've been seeing Dr Tanner for a couple years. She's personable and gentle and the overall service is really wonderful. They are timely and the place runs like well-oiled machine. I've also seen Dr Schuner (spelling?) for a root canal. I've had such a good experience at this office. My only complaint is that the office over communicates reminders for all appointments. It's just too many texts for me. I'd prefer if I received less communication regarding my visits, and that they just would hold me financially accountable were I to miss an appointment. read more

Dr. George was patient with my anxiety. Appointment was on time and I was out in the time frame they gave me. The hallway leading up to the office and the waiting room had a very strong migraine enducing air freshener smell that did not help the anxiety. read more

Fantastic hygienist (Mel). After two visits under new ownership, I have yet to see Dr. George as a follow up to my cleaning because she is running behind on all of her appointments. Going forward I will only schedule my appointments when Dr. Mastella is in the office. read more

Dr. Jackson-George has purchased this practice, and I really like her. She is thorough, and she also has a camera she uses so you can see the tooth on a large screen while she tells you what she's going to do. All of the people who work in the office are still there with the new management, and they are always great. They recognize you and are very personable. read more

My father is a retired dentist, so after my initial appointment I called him for advice. At my initial consult, I was told that I needed 8 fillings and a debridement (a regular cleaning was not an option because of the supposed condition of my teeth). My dad was skeptical, and I went to the dental school- there I got two fillings (they couldn't comprehend where anybody would fit 8) and a cleaning. I'm not saying that Mastella's office will necessarily try to rip you off, just be careful. read more

Dr. Tanner and the staff are awesome! They are very professional and personable. I have been at patient at the office for at least 8 years. I have seen very little, if any, turn around of employees. After 12 years of thinking this was the best practice ever, and recommending this dentist to friends and family, I realized that he intentionally billed me directly for a procedure that was covered by the procedure submitted to the insurance company. He has done that twice and also billed for an exam that he did not do. There is a definite pattern of fraud and my insurance company has ordered him to pay me back. it is not a "mistake" as they are claiming because they purposely billed me directly without billing the insurance company. Went for 2 normal check-up visits now and had good experiences. Receptionists are pretty nice and I never waited more than 5-10 minutes to get in during the mornings. Dental hygienist was thorough and didn't tear up my mouth. I did do a bit more waiting than I would have liked in between the hygienist and the Doctor, but overall a good experience both times. Of course, I had no cavities, so I'm sure this experience can vary with how much drilling or work is involved for you. Parking not that great, but it is convenient for city-dwellers to stop in before work, and still get back to your office by 9:30 am. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to after what happened to me here. Dr. Rodriguez told me that I had a cavity, which I was a little suspicious of because he couldn't see it on the xray. Anyhow, I trusted him since he's supposedly a dental professional and dutifully scheduled a follow-up appointment to have the cavity filled. He numbed me up during the filling, so I didn't realize that he had drilled and filled a completely different tooth until the very end! I am now completely convinced that I never had a cavity and he was simply trying to get more money for unnecessary procedures. Do not trust him! I have attended Dr. Mastella office for 28 years since the age of 17 and received nothing but the best service ever. I did recently receive the worst customer service from one of the office clerks name Debbie who was very nasty in all my years attending this office. I expressed my complaint which drew great concern about her seeing me come in the office for over a month getting work done and waited until the last minute to tell me on my next vist bring a large payment with me for the work. she never told me from the first visit that i would have a balance to pay. I spoke with a higher chain of command they apologized on behalf of the poor custmer service and assured me that this type of action will not happen again. I honored their word and will remain there as a patient. Thou the customer service is the first line of comfort you want to feel when you walk into a dental office the staff itself is awesome.
