Located in New Haven, the old station houses both a gift shop and small museum. Many of the artifacts are from the old L&N line that made stops here. The museum also has a large model railroad but was slightly disappointed by the fact only one train was running in it. They also offer train rides, depending on the day and time of week. We were lucky enough that on this particular Tuesday they were operating. We took a hour long ride, heading south to Gethsemane and back again. The ride was smooth and cool but was generally very slow. We never felt the full power of the engine move us down to the track as we were hoping too. It's a nice ride but possibly not as exciting if you are a true train enthusiast.

We joined the grandkids for The Santa Express. Perhaps our expectations were out of line. We had…read morehoped for a Christmas decorated train chugging through some nifty Christmas lights. The exterior of the train was old, faded paint. The interior had a strand of lights extending the length of each car. And the luggage racks had lots of wrapped boxes. There was no one to lead Christmas carols. No one to give us any history of the woods & fields we chugged through. (one "conductor" told us there was a field where a decisive civil was battle took place). Late on the ride back, Frosty, Santa & Mrs Claus walked the aisles. Some Elves gave the kids a commemorative button. I saw folks dozing off. We were all ready for the ride to end. And we were pleasantly surprised to arrive to "snow". I think the Santa Express has a lot of room to grow. One other thing, don't expect to post much. Cell signal was non-existent.

I gave it four stars instead of five because it is not the biggest I've been in. I must say that all the cars are in pristine condition. They are well cared for and even the engine components have been painted and polished. I'd been there last in 2007 and owed it to myself to come back and spend more time. I'm very glad I did. One activity that you can take in to really enjoy the place is to investigate the biographies of the cars by scanning the 2D bar code on each vehicle's windshield. Cars are spaced nicely apart so you can get a good view of the cars from different angles and it accommodates photography very nicely. Clientele present on my visit was very respectful when I was there. Since it is far away, I don't think I will go back. By the way, my review should carry some credibility as I am a retired automotive engineer and volunteer at another car museum. If you are in the area, go there.

Wow, this little movie theater tucked away in Elizabethtown, Kentucky was such a great find. I…read morebelieve it is family owned, which I love, and the prices were super affordable. One thing I really appreciated was that the theaters don't have steep staircases- makes it so much easier for older people and honestly just more comfortable overall. The concessions were also reasonably priced, and they even had a free popcorn seasoning station, which was a fun touch. The ranch seasoning was our favorite and definitely a must try. I'll be coming back the next time I'm in town!

This house every year is synced to 87.9 fm radio and the lights and characters blink and talk along to the music and custom made "commercials". I honestly had no idea this house existed until 2021. I do not live far at all from this house so when I seen there website/Facebook page I had to come check it out. Absolutely worth the drive to check this place out. This house alone is worth the trip however we noticed that on that same road of zoneton not even a half a mile away is another house or two that has sown very extravagant lights. Which to me makes zoneton road maybe the areas best stretch or holiday light viewing. Overall, very cool house and the radio station and commercials pre made for the family are very cool and innovative. Very glad I stumbled across there page and found out this place existed. It will become an annual place we visit and since it is close to home I'm sure we will even tie out here several more times this holiday season.

One of my children is a claw machine whiz. I remember one time, he played a claw machine that had…read morehuge bouncy balls in it. He walked away with three -- one for each attempt. Pretty much any time that he tries to get something at a claw machine, he will succeed. So when we were visiting Louisville, I made it a point to visit Claw Zone, because I knew he would have a good time. Yes, we did have a really good time. We walked away with a bag of stuffed animals. If you stay and play for a while, you're almost guaranteed to get something. I feel like the claw machines here are slightly easier to win than some others we've encountered. That said, we spent $50, which isn't an insignificant amount. But fifty bucks gives you 65 tokens, and it lasted us about 30 minutes. The claw machines take different token amounts, depending on what's in them. And what's in them varies. You'll find claw machines with stuffed animals, chips, soda and even toilet paper. I felt like there were a lot of people there when we visited, but there are so many claw machines that it didn't feel crowded at all.

If you like playing claw machines but hate losing tons of money, Claw Zone is your next place to…read morevisit! I took my kids and our return on investment was great! We won probably 15 or so plushies and didn't spend that much money at all. Most of the machines are 1 or 2 credits and you can usually win within two or three tries. The machines with plushies you recognize are normally the ones that cost more which makes sense. There are a bunch of smaller plushie machines, my 6 year old had a little trouble with the upper ones since the machines are stacked two high, maybe there are stools but not sure. In the very back is a party area which is nice. The front has a lounge area and a really neat plushie wall where you can sit and take selfies with all the plushies you won. Road to Bethlehem- a drive thru experience is a unique and vastly different annual holiday event…read moreheld at the bullitt county fairgrounds off the clermont exit. This is more of a religious event. This free event has You pull in with your vehicle and drive up to individual stations where they have people dressed up and they act out parts of Jesus Christ journey from birth to his death. The place features cool set designs and costumes. There are multiple drive up stations and at each station the actors deliver there lines and interact with the patrons of the vehicle and usually wish you a merry Christmas on the way to the next station. The event is only held one weekend of the holiday season and props to the actors as it has to be cold as it all done outside in the weather elements during a 6pm-8pm night time frame. Also there are several cars that come through and they have to repeat there lines for each individual car. Our favorite part was probably the part where they give you two "gold coins" at the beginning and warn you of Roman guards who block your path to Bethlehem and urge you to use the gold coins for safe passage. The actors and our kids had a lot of fun with that part. Being that this is an individual per car live play experience this Does take some time to go through. We arrived right at 6pm to a line that back up just to the entrance of the fairgrounds and it took 90 min to go through. So be patient. It's a long wait but when you factor in what this is it's very understandable. Plus it's a free event. So hopefully people don't harp on the long waits and appreciates the volunteers. Another important note or disclaimer to consider is while yes this is a holiday event, It is very much a religious event only. So if one was just looking for lights and Santa clauses they would not enjoy this. This whole production is strictly the story of Jesus. So if you aren't religious or if you just don't particularly like religious shows or history then this will not be for you. Overall very unique and different holiday event. I could see some of the younger kids may get bored or frustrated. My kids enjoyed it and appreciated what it took for the workers to make this free event happen. Is this something I'll comeback to every year? Probably not unless they switched up the show. But it's probably worth revisiting every few years. Once again I can't give enough props to the several volunteers who bare the cold and stretch there vocal cords on the weekend this event takes place.
