Well I'm home resting after my first cataract surgery on my worst eye the left one. I've had 2…read moreretina detachment surgery in this eye in 2021 and a huge cataract grew very dense very quickly. I can't recognize the awesome staff enough! From the check in person and billing person at my check in both were kind and informative even though the AC was out in their area ! Once I was called back in about 15 minutes. They took my friend to the other waiting room bc it had ac The nurses that did my initial set up were great! Leigh and Susan were very good to me as were the others but I didn't get their names. Dr. Willman is excellent and he tells the truth but in a way that's not upsetting if that makes sense. Due to my eye condition there was no choice for me I had to do the laser, plus Dr. Willman had to chip away too. The staff make sure that you are comfortable with blankets etc etc. Plus they take them off when you get hot. Everyone was friendly and kind. I let everyone know that when I'm nervous I tend to talk a LOT but they didn't seem to have an issue with it. My actual surgery was scheduled for 11 but I didn't go back until 11:30. I had the best BP readings in my life at a doctor's office!! The nurse also used the vein that I wanted her too. Once she got the needle in my blood started going and went slightly overboard but she cleaned up everything making sure no blood got on my clothes. She even changed the dressing bc she said it was too messy for her liking! My follow up is tomorrow and my right eye is scheduled for 4 weeks. My eye feels irritated and scratchy under this big eye shield but not painfully so. I'll be glad for the shield to be removed tomorrow at the follow up. The surgery center was immaculate so bright and clean. I highly recommend CarlinVision!

He would reach out to shake my hand then proceed to wipe his hand on his pant leg in front of me which I thought was rude and was very short when answering my questions. But I came back home, mainly because they performed my LASIK and I felt my eyesight was detonating and I should start wearing contacts/glasses again. I came in to set up an appointment and the ladies there were really nice. The office is always clean and they have a huge waiting area with plenty of seating and refreshments while you wait to be called back. The lady (I didn't get her name) I spoke with suggested I see Dr. Thornhill, after I told her I would rather see a different doctor than the one I saw the past couple of times I was there. I am so thankful for her because Dr. Thornhill restored my faith! He was very charismatic, funny, and just overall great energy! He answered all my questions and addressed any concerns I had. He also recommended eye exercises I can do since I'm constantly staring at a computer screen during my work day. So if you are not sure which doctor to see, I definitely recommend Dr. Thornhill.

However, everything billing-related has made this experience the absolute worst experience. This may come off harsh, but the fact is Milan Eye Center is incompetent when it comes to billing, and they refuse to take any responsibility. They hire a 3rd party billing company overseas, so every time you call their office to discuss anything "billing-related," you are automatically transferred to their overseas contracted billing partner. Why in the world would you hire such an incompetent company to handle all your billing? This is a multimillion-dollar eyecare practice. We knew this surgery would happen, and switched insurance plans as the new plan had a specific flat in-network $1,000 copay for each eye for Cataract Surgery. The total surgery should have cost $2,000, plus the additional co-payments for other doctor visits/eval pre- and post-surgery. Guess what? Milan Eye Center never billed UHC. At the last moment, we were forced into taking out a $5,000 loan from CareCredit to pay for the Cataract Surgery. To make matters worse, after the surgery, Milan Eye Center billing third party started sending bills for $3,900 for the same surgery. ; First of all. Milan Eye Center will NOT perform any surgery until the costs are all paid off in full, meaning you cannot enter the surgery room, hence why we had to take out the $5,000 loan. So a surgery that should have cost $2,000 with insurance ended up costing $5,000 + now they want another $3,900. Cataract Surgery is not $8,900, including insurance; the total to them should be $10,900? After the surgery, we spoke with the insurance. Milan Eye Center never filed it through them, even though they are in-network. After a year, we finally paid off the $5,000 loan we should have never had to taken out... and now they still want $3,900... As someone who has worked in healthcare, what this practice is doing is unethical and illegal. [Review 742] - 15th Review of 2025
