NEVER use Dr. Kominsky!!! He did bunion surgery and one year later, my foot is still painful. After getting evaluations by other podiatrists, (who are very skeptical about Dr. Kominsky's work and have heard the same complaints before). He put staples and screws in my foot, which I never knew until months later. I never saw any x-rays during the whole process. The surgery he did is so bad that my foot has been swollen for 9 months and is not healing properly. There is a second bunion on my small toe that he never took care of as well. This is almost one year and I will have to go through the whole process again, painful surgery, and off my foot for 4-6 weeks. I found him very pompous & cavalier, caring more for his ego than the recovery of the patient! read more

NEVER USE DR. KOMINSKY! I went to him with a burning sensation underneath my foot. He took an X-RAY, played with my foot, told me I have tendinitis and that his pain laser therapy machine would make it go away after 10 sessions. I told him that I power-walked 4-5 miles every day and he told me to "continue doing what you're doing"! Two months and $500 later, my burning sensation had not improved. So he decided to send me for an MRI only to find out I did not have tendinitis after all, but rather a stress fracture which I had most probably made worse by "continuing to do what I was doing". I ended up with a boot for 4 weeks after which I scheduled a follow up MRI for myself! His nurse has no apparent knowledge of what she's doing and the Office Manager tries to hold back information so patients can't submit for insurance. Overall terrible experience. read more

I went to Dr Kominsky after another podiatrist told me my foot was in such bad shape that I would have to have the bones fused and give up my career as a dancer. Dr Kominsky was AMAZING!! He gave me a new metatarsal joint and I am dancing better than I have for 10 years. AND my foot is completely pain free! I highly recommend him! He was always patient and thoughtful and very polite! read more

I would not recommend Dr. Kominsky, not even to my worst enemy. I urge you to go to another doctor. Upon surgery, I got a staph infection and was treated in the worst way by Dr. Kominsky. He ignored my pain, redness, and inflammation and disregarded my emergency hospitalization result. He then tried to sell me laser therapy to try to "heal " me. He did a sloppy job and even put some equipment in my foot without telling me. It is now one and a half years later and I still have pain every time I walk. He is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. Furthermore, I have seen other doctors to fix what he did and one of them even said, "I would not let Kominsky even cut my pastrami sandwich". Avoid at all cost there are better specialist in the area for severe ankle issues. Might be great for elderly foot and ankle complications but not for sports injuries. It has been nine months since my peroneal tendon repair surgery with Dr. Kominsky and I am still un able to function normally. I was also told my surgery would be minimally invasive surgery, when I finally took off my cast a month later I had a 5 inch gash, no that big of a deal. After my initial surgery another complication arose in which I encountered multiple microscopic tears in my ankle which are still present and extremely painful. Dr. Kominsky offered ZERO solutions to this problem except MLS laser therapy or another surgery. So I went with the MLS therapy since I am in extreme pain and figured it couldn't hurt. $500 dollars later I have noticed zero improvement. I can understand that the treatment might not have been effective on me, but what I really irritates me is that Dr. Kominsky promised to check up on me on my 5th and 10th laser treatment. He never did and is almost never present in the office, it's basically a glorified nurse practitioners office. So in order to solve my ankle issue I had to go an additional $2000 of PRP injections and treatments. Still I am dealing with severe ankle pain hinder me from jogging, swimming, heavy weight lifting, running, jumping, and other basic daily functions from the microscopic tears. The only positive from this experience was the staff, they are wonderful and were very nice throughout this pain stacking process. Thousands of dollars later and I am still in the same pain that I was when I originally suffered the injury March 15, 2015. I highly regret getting surgery and I urge others to get second opinions from more trusted doctors. Cheers! read more

Dr. Kominsky operated on a bunion last January. I was able to walk out of the hospital that very day, and I was back in heels four weeks later. I was so pleased with his work, I am having the other bunion removed this January. Excellent doctor, accessible, friendly staff, good location. read more

I went to dr. Kominsky for a bunion surgery and a tear repair. After surgery i was unable to move my toe and was told it was due to scar tissue and recommended surgery to repair the issue. After seeing another highly recommended orthopedic surgeon the issue was due to the fact that the surgery was not performed correctly and involved going in and rebreaking the toe. This caused me months of recovery and now i am able to move my toe again with still having lingering pain from the surgery he performed. This has been a year struggle for me and has affected my active lifestyle. read more

I just had two bunions removed by. Dr. Kominsky. It was an amazing experience! He is an artist. Most important was that I never felt any pain. I walked out of the hospital both times. They were done three weeks apart. The office is wonderful and the staff kind and professional. Dr. Jacobsen did a fabulous job with the physical therapy. I started this in mid May and have been wearing regular shoes for two weeks now. Even in sneekers or, earlier, in the soft boot I walked and was totally comfortable. Do yourself a favor and go see this doctor. Even the staff at Sibley told me I was working with the best! PS. Even the scars will be gone before too long as he uses plastic surgery stitches! I'm so late with this review, but back in 2011, I choose Dr. Kominsky for problems I had with my left foot. As it turned out, I had really bad callous formation on my pinky toe as a result of a painful bunion on my left big toe. Dr. Kominsky and his staff were consummate professionals - never waited more than 5-10 min for my appointment, pleasant demeanor, never any billing surprises, and the best part was the doctor is extremely knowledgeable. I ended up having surgery that summer for the bunion and it went smoothly. I'm now completely pain free thanks to Dr. Kominsky and his physical therapy staff. read more

I would not recommend based on the following: - The office staff was very unprofessional. I walked into the waiting area a few times to find both receptionists texting on their cell phones. It usually took a while for either of the girls to stop texting and actually help me. - Dr. Kominsky always seemed rush, and didn't quite know the specifics of my issues. A few times, it was pretty obvious that he didn't read my chart before coming into the exam room, because he had no idea why I was there. He would have to leave the room, check the chart, and then come back and start over. - His first recommendation was custom-made orthotics (which, surprise, aren't covered by insurance!). When that didn't work, he suggested I "wait a few more weeks" to see if the orthotics would start helping. - Also, for each hour-long "appointment," I would have maybe 5 minutes tops with Dr. Kominsky. The rest of it was waiting and getting shuffled around between different office staff/techs. Eventually I gave up and moved on to another podiatrist, who actually took the time to listen to my symptoms and correctly diagnose me. read more

I went to Dr. Kominsky for extremely painful plantar fasciitis after a bad experience with another podiatrist. It was like night and day! Dr. Kominsky was patient, listened, answered all of my questions, and gave me sensible, graduated advice. Unlike the other podiatrist, he did not try to sell me expensive orthotics. Rather, he discussed over-the-counter options and actions I could take to ease the strain on my arch. My problem wasn't cured in a day, but after two cortisone shots, three rounds of taping, new arch supports, and some stretching and icing, I'm 90% cured. Thrilled with my bunion surgery experience with Dr. Kominsky and physical therapy with Dr. Jacobson. I was pleasantly surprised that I had zero pain from the surgery. Dr. K knows what he is doing as he has done thousands of surgeries. You can always reach him through his staff and have all your questions answered, even at night and on weekends. The staff at Sibley told me that Dr. K's patients always do very well. Everyone at Dr. K's office is friendly, professional and competent. He has a nice bed side manner but not too keen on details. His office assistants do almost all of the appointments. $500.00 orthodics ( which he adjusted 3 times with add- ons) , $600.00 MLS Laser, neither of which was covered by insurance and 3 months of visits and my Plantars F still wasn't much better. The cortisone shot helped, but that wears off. After the last laser, Dr K met with me ( hadn't seen him in the prior 12 visits) for the exit appointment. "I'll see you when you need me" was his final comment. Never asked if I felt better, and no time line to feel better or how to proceed going forward. Would not recommend him . Got the feeling his heart wasn't in it , and he wasn't very much aware of my lack of progress. Dr K didn't deliver results and the out of pocket costs were way too high. An under-whelming experience. Dr. Kominsky operated on my left ankle and did an absolutely fantastic job. He is one of the few physicians who takes the time to listen to you, and I mean actually listen to you, and figure out how best to treat you. His follow up after the surgery was excellent, his staff is excellent, and I highly recommend seeing him. He is one of the most knowledgeable physicians that I've ever seen. read more
