The best dentist and dental staff I've ever had. I've lived in many states and have dentists in FL, MA, CO and around San Diego and Dr.Rubinkan, Dawn, Rita and the staff has been the most professional, caring, thorough than all of them. It started out with the cleaning, which was the least painful I've ever had and almost felt like a massage. Then Dr. Rubinkan and Dawn gave me a dental exam and the tools they used are the most advanced I've seen - they were able to detect things other dentists weren't - and I could see it on the screen! The technology and knowledge they have is on a different level. They also weren't rushed and helped explain everything to me. I felt like they had time to take care of me instead of rushing me through like every other place I've been, with minimal communication. Since our first negative writeup of Dr. Rubikan concerning the eight crowns he installed for my wife and then subsequently having three of the eight falling out within three weeks of the procedure; now, in less than three months from the original date, an additional two crowns have failed ...this time necessitating cutting short our vacation to have the tooth re-installed...thats FIVE out of EIGHT!!! When I protested the bill to Visa, Dr. Rubikan claimed that "saliva contamination" was the probable cause and demanded his full payment...I say rubbish!!! I've been going to Dr. Rubinkan for over 25 years. He was referred to me by my former dentist in Orange County when I relocated to San Diego. I don't like going to the dentist at all. Right up there with an IRS audit. But, Dr. Rubinkan has delivered consistently superior service to me for a long time. While he has kept up with modern technology he still has an old fashioned caring service attitude. Recently, I had an international guest who had a dental emergency and had a very difficult busy schedule here. Doc accommodated him graciously.. He also took care of my mother into her nineties. Today, I had a cavity filled. While, nobody likes that procedure, I have to say today was the best filling I ever got. Put on my Bose headphones to mask the noise and it was over pretty quickly. Love Dr. Rubinkan. Been seeing him for a year now, had two crowns placed and a few cavities fixed. The staff and the doctor are very knowledgeable, courteous and patient. Crowns were painless and the best part was it was completed in one appointment. He has technology to shape and create them there so you are all set after it is in no need for a temporary crown. The prices are very reasonable with my insurance, much less than the last dentist I used to visit. read more

I originally started seeing Dr. Rubinkan because he was able to get me right in when I needed an emergency extraction. I've never looked back. I'm the world's worst patient. My fluid schedule doesn't allow me to book appointments more than a couple days ahead, and I normally only sit still when sleeping. My initials are A.D.D. Because previous practitioners made it too difficult for me to get in, I've let a lot of much needed dental work go unresolved. Another thing that kept me from going in to get more often at other practices was that one previous dentist used to go from chair to chair which caused undue waiting and a longer than necessary experience. Dr. Rubinkan who is without question at least, if not more qualified than other dentists could easily get away with the same behavior and ways of working as other dentists, but he doesn't. Customer service is outstanding. Scheduling is a dream. Going on a wait list on days off seems to always result in a call to come in. And the care and work is awesome. I also want to give a shout out to my new babes: Tina and Dawn. Thanks for the exceptional help in getting me in Tina. And thanks for the care in the chair Dawn. I had an emergency dental situation and my regular dentist was out of town. I called this office and they were able to get me in same the same day, which was very nice. The office is very out-dated and seems dirty. There are stains on the carpet and the wall paper is dingy. The computer they used to take the XRays took about 15 minutes to fire up. I didn't get to see a dentist until 55 minutes after I got there and it probably would have been longer but I had to go so they interrupted him; the staff tried to help me in the meantime. Everyone was very nice, but I wouldn't go back based on the low-tech, outdated office. read more

I needed a second opinion on the work I was told I needed at a fdental office in San Marcos and was referred by my son in law who also left that same office for Dr. Rubinkan. I was told by the first dentist that I needed root planing and laser and the cost would be over a thousand. I was stunned because I am diligent about my teeth and gums now that I have all crowns. I called Tina at Dr. Rubinkan's office and she scheduled me within the week. From the first minute I walked in, it was evident that they were experienced, proficient and caring. I requested my X-rays from the first office which wasn't done and Tina made that call. Dawn was awesome with educating me about my bone loss and dry mouth due to aging and medications. She suggested Biotene toothpaste and rinse which after a few days has really helped. Dr. Rubinkan examined my teeth and gums and said the root planing wasn't necessary, that everything looked good and to keep doing my routine and every 4 month cleanings. I couldn't be happier and appreciate an honest business that doesn't try and sell services because they have high overhead. It is so worth the drive from San Marcos. read more

The receptionist is awesome and she definitely knows what she's doing. They're quick at getting you in for appointments especially if something is wrong. OK, I felt I had to write an update for this dental office. All of the friendly staff that we had loved have moved on. At my son's last visit, the receptionist's daughter berated my son for not doing a better job of brushing. He left in near-tears -- and he's 13 years old and not overly sensitive. Although I still think Dr. Rubinkan is a great dentist, we switched to another office due to issues with the staff. There's a right way and a wrong way to encourage proper brushing; shaming your patient is definitely the wrong way. read more

I had Dr. Rubinkan about a year. I chose Dr. Rubinkan because I saw all those 5 stars on yelp. During my past 12 months visit, I really like him. He is great dentist. My two stars are for him. He loss 3 stars because of his staff. I had very bad experiences with the front office staff. They are not friendly at all. My appoint was never on time, always 30 minutes, 40 minutes late . The front reception ( the lady) was rude. She couldn't find my file every single time when I visit, even today. I am still in middle of my treatment with Dr. Rubinkan. After having gone to many dentists, I know how hard it is to find a good dentist, and I am so grateful to have Dr. Rubinkan as my dentist. Over the past few years, I have had a few fillings and crowns done by Dr. Rubinkan. His skill is impeccable and he is one of the few dentists who uses Cerec crowns, meaning that you can get your crown (made of porcelain) completed in one visit. Besides being really skilled with fillings and crowns, Dr. Rubinkan is also one of the most patient and caring dentists you can have. He always takes time to answer your questions and is really pleasant and cheerful to talk to. Also, his prices are really reasonable. I convinced my husband to see a dentist since he hasn't been to one in years and he finally agreed since he had been having painful toothaches. The staff was friendly but he spent about two hours in the office just for X-rays and for the dentist to look at his teeth. They didn't even clean his teeth! We were told he needed some work done but it was a significant amount of money we didn't have. About a month later his pain was severely increasing and we still didn't have the $ for the work. So I called the office to see if he could be prescribed a medication to help ease his pain until we could afford the dental work since the OTC analgesics were no longer giving him relief. They told us the dentist would not prescribe anything for pain but my husband could come in that day to have the work done even though I told them we still didn't have the money. They kept suggesting he come in and I asked them if he did get the work done would they prescribe something for the pain after, they said no. If you value your families comfort, don't go here! They lost a client over pain relief and didn't seem to care. I've never been to a dentist that won't prescribe pain relief and guess we should have done more research before coming here. Lesson learned. read more

I've been a patient of Dr Rubinkan for at least 15 years now... And I've had just about every problem a human can have with a bad set of teeth! Much is due to bad genetics and poor hygiene I must admit... Dr Rubinkan and his staff are awesome. His care to his patients is outstanding, he's very good at pain management, he always asking how you are doing and if he suspects you have ANY pain he treats it now! I LOVE that I can go into his office and get a crown the same day! No two day office visits which I can't afford. Don't expect a quick cleaning by his dental hygienist... though you may leave a little sore, they do a very thorough job! My wife's dentist spent around 15 to 20 minutes cleaning her teeth... Dr Rubukan's hygienist always spends 45 minutes, sometimes more! Now my wife sees Dr Rubinkan! He's is always up-to date in the latest tech in his industry. I can't say enough positive comments about Dr Rubinkan and his staff! I'll NEVER go to another dentist! read more
