I shopped at about four other rug stores in Menlo Park and Palo Alto and no one came near this level of service. In addition, there's no way an online rug store could provide any of this excellent customer service. The Oriental Carpet is the only store for superb customer service and stunning rugs!

When it was time to replace our laminate floors and the carpeting on our stairs, hallway, and…read morebedrooms, we compared options at Home Depot and several local carpet stores. A measuring technician came out, took all the dimensions, and directed us to the 1020 W. San Carlos location to review their full carpet selection. At the store, we explained what we were looking for, compared carpet features and pricing, and worked with Dominic--who was very accommodating. His total project cost was competitive with the other quotes we received. We also wanted new baseboards that would match our freshly painted walls and trim. Dominic arranged to have the primed (but unpainted) 16' wood baseboards delivered ahead of installation, giving us time to paint everything before the carpet went in. Tip Our new carpet and pad are very soft and plush--great underfoot, especially on the stairs. Because the new flooring sits higher than the original laminate, our bedroom doors needed to be trimmed by about half an inch. We cut the doors ourselves, but it's worth asking whether your installer can include that as part of the project. Pros * Dominic is a true carpeting professional--he anticipated our needs and offered thoughtful guidance throughout the process. * Both the wood and carpet installation teams did solid, quality work. Cons * Some door trim was scuffed as the installers maneuvered large carpet rolls through our narrow hallway and doorways, so a bit of repainting was needed afterward.

They have beautiful Tibetan rugs of extraordinary quality. They design is subtle and contemporary. I love Tufenkian's Barbara Barry designs and many of Dolma's designs are similar for a lower cost. I purchased a 5x8 rug last year and love the unique look excellent quality. The rugs are either wool or wool and silk and usually at a density of 100 hand-tied knots per square inch. Interestingly, rugs of high density such as these are impervious to cat scratches! Beyond just the quality of the rugs, the service is also unbelievable. The owner, Yonten, is so sweet and has a great sense of style. She let me take home and bring back probably 6 rugs before I decided on one. I am currently looking for another rug and they have been just as lovely. Just a wonderful rug store.

Even with all that money, they stopped answering my phone calls as to the status of my rug. Then it turns out that the owner who I had been dealing with is on an extended trip to India. 40 unanswered txts and phone calls. I had to eventually drive the 50 miles and two bridges in search of my rug. The drive revealed that nothing had been done, my rug still where I last saw it on the showroom floor, even though a two week turn around was promised as the rug needed to go into a shipping container in our move.
