I had selected a couple of rugs in their store & they brought the rugs to my home and set them out so that I could determine which rug was the perfect fit. The team provided a rug mat, moved furniture and found the correct position for the rug. I shopped at about four other rug stores in Menlo Park and Palo Alto and no one came near this level of service. When I vacuumed both sides of one rug and then tried to roll it up, and more dirt fell through the weave onto the floor, I knew having someone pick them up for cleaning was the best option. They sent someone to give me a firm quote and pick up the rugs. They showed up right on time and explained the options clearly, and the price was reasonable for a thorough cleaning, given my mom has not had them cleaned for 20 years. The rugs were returned in great shape, the colors on both looked more vibrant, and the workers were very nice about positioning the rugs where I wanted them. Jeremy and his team repaired a silk/wool rug for us, and they did a fabulous job! The rug is about 30 years old, and the very long fringe had gotten ratty looking. I recently purchased a new home and after spending a seemingly endless amount of time searching for furniture and having horrible experiences interacting with vendors, i serendipitously came across the absolute gem that is The Oriental Carpet. This store is unlike any other in their industry, and the quality of service and attention to detail was quite honestly a bit of a shock. Their lead expert cared more about understanding my tastes and preferences than showing me carpets. After a lengthy discussion and walk through a variety of colors and styles, he would ask me what I thought about the rugs, and what aspects of the rugs spoke to me, and what about the rugs i disliked. This was by far the most pleasant experience that I've ever had shopping, and I left the store feeling a lot less anxious and stressed than when I arrived. Over the next few days, the Oriental Carpet staff gathered a range of rug styles based my tastes, and brought them to my home to place in various locations for review. I could tell that they understood exactly what I was going for based on my visit earlier in the week and brought some beautiful rugs that fit my targeted aesthetic perfectly. I ended up purchasing multiple rugs including the beautiful rug in the attached image. I brought them a very complex scenario involving a room requiring warmth and wanting a color transition that synergized with my garden patio, and as yo can see they knocked it out of the park. Most importantly, the staff at the Oriental Carpet genuinely cared about helping me get the perfect rug for me, not selling me inventory from their store. I needed a new rug for my living room and decided to visit the oriental carpet store last weekend! My mom has shopped here many times as well as my sister, so I knew I would find something beautiful that suited my space and that the customer service would be excellent. Jeremy was super patient with me and showed me all of the 8x10 rugs available in the store. When we went through those piles, he then pointed out possible some samples and showed me more images of rugs on the computer that he could have shipped here. They have such a huge selection it could have been overwhelming to decide which one. However, when I explained that my couch is blue and shared a picture of the room, Jeremy steered me towards rugs that wouldn't clash and wouldn't be too blue. I happened to see a rug hanging on the wall and figured out that it was my style. Based off this, I was shown some other options, which were later emailed to me. Throughout the entire process, Jeremy was very communicative and responded quickly to my emails and questions. He even offered to have the rug delivered to my house and said I did not have to commit to purchasing; he just wanted to make sure I was happy with it before I bought it. I was even offered other rugs to try, but I knew what I liked immediately when I saw it, so I just had the one rug delivered. The guys delivered my rug and set it up quickly, moving my furniture. The rug pad was included in the price too! It was such an easy experience! They wore shoe coverings, which I really appreciated and shared with me some best care instructions. Long ago we purchased a hallway runner from The Oriental Carpet. We had it cleaned many years ago and recently decided that it needed to be cleaned again. I took advantage of a 30% off cleaning offer for this. I emailed Jeremy and he got back to me the same day quoting me a very reasonable price plus arranging a pick up. The rug was picked up right on time by two efficient fellows and cleaned in one week. The same two gentlemen brought the rug back again exactly at the arranged time. The rug looks like new! Very impressed with this store. In the era of online shopping, this place was a breath of fresh air. The owner of the store greeted me and was able to immediately sort through his huge inventory to help find several rugs that met my unusual dimensions and color/pattern preferences. He was even able to show me options from his online catalog that were not in the store. After the great service we received bringing in a vey damaged Persian rug for repair, we came back this week to purchase a few more. The selection they have in store is astounding! So many beautiful ones to choose from. We ended up with a Nain for our dining area, an Isfahan for the entry way and a long hallway runner. Jeremy and Sasha were amazing! They were so patient and helpful. We really wanted a Nain for our dining room , but were having difficulty finding one we liked in the right size. My daughter posted a review on 9/10/2020 at my request that was soon deleted. Perhaps it was because my daughter did not write the check. I am a paying customer of The Oriental Carpet so I will now post the review. My daughter received the cleaned carpet on 8/27/2020 at her home and it smelled so much of mildew that it permeated her entire home. When she called Oriental Carpet to question the odor they told her to put out a bowl of vinegar that they said would solve the problem. She had to insist that they pick the carpet up to rectify the situation. The sales associate just kept giving my daughter excuses as to why the carpet smelled like mildew. He even tried to deny that the carpet was the same one the he deliver to her home on 8/27/2020 until she showed him the store tag that was attached to the back of the carpet. He then told her that this type of carpet was not made to last but the carpet is only 3 years old and in immaculate condition. He then tried to tell her that the carpet would breakdown with multiple washings but it was only washed twice including this last washing and both times was washed by Oriental Carpet. He then proceeded to "throw" the carpet into the van and she had to request a receipt before he drove off. The sales associate called me to arrange a drop off and he says that the carpet "smells pretty good to him" so I'm a bit suspicious but hopeful. If all goes well, I will upgrade my review of this establishment. read more

After doing some updates to our home, I began my search for a family room rug. I think I'd been in to the Oriental Carpet about 15 times or so. I happened to purchase a Tufenkian, a contemporary (hand knotted!) rug for my family room and I love it. The Oriental Carpet is the real deal. It has been around since 1973 and their love for and knowledge of the rugs is authentic. These are hand knotted rugs from Iran, Pakistan, Nepal, as well as contemporary hand knotted rugs. He was very aware that I was looking for a rug that had bright vibrant colors and was not too busy in the design. He spread each rug and out on his floor and gave me an opportunity to examine each rug without any pressure. We were able to buy the rug at a discount price and he included the liner in the purchase. Our experience with The Oriental Carpet could not have been better. From our first phone inquiry until the delivery of our seven rugs their response has been quick and their service superb. Our rugs had gone many years without being cleaned and all of them came back looking brand new. I know that's a cliche, but it's the only way to describe it. And it applies as well to the repair of an oriental rug which had been in bad shape. We have had other companies clean our rugs in the past, but The Oriental Carpet outshines them all. The rugs, while gorgeous, are quite unusual in color, and did not sell, so we decided to gift them to an East Coast relative. We were thrilled that Bruce offered to ship 2 rugs cross-country, door to door, for a total of $90, leveraging the store's high-volume UPS rate to help a small customer. The employees were professional (in nice uniforms, courteous, and careful not to damage any furniture) both when they picked up the rugs and dropped them back off. I would recommend The Oriental Carpet to anyone looking for a quality product and quality customer service. We were on the hunt for a 8x10 rug for our dining room and a 12x15 rug for our living room. With rugs these sizes the prices can definitely get pretty steep so it was really important for us to feel comfortable spending that sort of $$$--which meant we couldn't feel like we were being taken advantage of or lied to in any way. We had experienced this previously at another store but we never doubted that we were in good hands with Bruce and Sasha. One huge selling point for us was that they offered to bring 4 massive rugs to our home so we could see them in the space (btw this should be standard for ANY rug store). They then gave us a day or two to make our decision on whether or not we wanted to keep the rug(s). Once Sasha saw our home and the first rug we selected, he then researched some options and helped us pick out the second rug. It made our job very easy!
