Was connected with SCS via Allstate via Home Depot protection plan on a dishwasher. Allstate scheduled it for 2 days after my call to them; SCS said they couldn't meet that timeline and gave me a day 10 days outs. Day of appointment (window 9a-11a): Running too late; wouldn't arrive until at least 1; decided to reschedule for 2 days later. Day of that appointment (window 12p-4p): No-call no-show. I had to reach out to them multiple times the next two business days to get an update. Their offer to reschedule was *another* 10 days later. And this was just for a diagnostic. Not even to repair. Cancelled my claim with them. I encourage others to seeks services elsewhere. Disappointed by the lack of professionalism and accountability. read more

I discovered SCS since they are one of only two Sony-authorized service centers in Massachusetts. I was puzzled by the Yelp reviews; lots of 4-5 star reviews and almost as many 1 star reviews. More on that at the end of this review. I think they are spectacular. As you will see reading through these reviews it's a family business - checkout the team on their website and you will see mom and dad and the (adult) kids. I like that and I think it makes a difference in how they run the business and deal with their customers. I was also impressed by the fact that their service policies were exactly the same as what was set out in a 6 year old Yelp review: have them come to your house and pay $75 of which $35 can be applied to any repair, or take the television to their shop and pay $50 all of which can be applied to a repair. (In either case if you don't get the tv repaired the full fee is a non-refundable service/diagnosis charge). I don't think you can find any appliance repair shop that only charges $75 for an in-home service call, and it is just an example of SCS's desire to treat people as fairly as possible. There aren't that many things that go wrong with newer televisions - most problems are likely the main system board or the power board - both of which can be pricey parts. So quite simply if you are out of warranty you should consider whether it's worth repairing a television or just buying a new one. In the case of my 65" Sony XBR I was quoted a $175 labor charge and $245 in parts. Pricey but this was a high end television that still has a market value of $1,400 even though it's several years old. Moreover while I could have found used parts for less online and even tried to do the repair myself I thought the quote was fair. Turned out to be a wise decision since Matt did have some complications and spent a good amount of time working on my television. Let's talk about those 1 star reviews. I am at a loss as to how people can do that to a small business - particularly without giving the business an opportunity to correct things (if they truly had an awful experience). I hate to call out specific people but come on - there's the woman who was already in contact with LG's president of service (that should have been a red flag), was agitated the service tech arrived early while she was sleeping at 12 noon, insisted she was not yelling at him but is an opera star, etc. I guess I give that review 1 star for accuracy just from reading it - it's just not credible. Take a look at the other 1 star reviews closely too and ask yourself whether this is a person you want to take advice from. Obviously you know what decision I reached. read more

Stereo Component Service is the authorized service center for LG TVs. They should get an "F-". The receptionist there said she would call me twenty minutes before the repairman arrived--she did not, and I was asleep. I had to rush to get dressed. The repairman did not come at the pre-arranged time of 1-5 pm--instead, he came at noon. I asked the repairman (I believe his name was Michael) what he thought changing the main board would accomplish. I mentioned I would have preferred discussing this over the telephone first (particularly in the era of COVID), which I had previously stated to the company. The repairman said he "didn't like my tone of voice"(!)--that I "should lower my voice"(!). I responded that I have a trained operatic voice (and my voice was not excessively loud--other people in my apartment have not complained). He then said nothing was wrong with the television, which was not true. I had previously itemized the problems for the president of LG customer service. I told the repairman to leave. This is just what I was afraid of--why the company didn't want to discuss matters over the phone--they simply want to be paid for doing nothing. I don't think LG should pay them. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior in a repairman before in my life. He was technically and interpersonally a failure. Michael came last Monday. From Wednesday to Friday I had mild chills. I don't know if he gave me a mild case of COVID or something else. That's one more reason never to let him in my apartment again. read more

I was introduced to Stereo Component Services through The Home Depot as that is one of their service companies. I have had two service appointments the most recent today 6/11/20 and as before good service from friendly people! They take there time and check your appliances while asking valid questions. After almost 2 month of going back and forth, ordering parts and lots of talk they still are unable to fix my TV. Very unprofessional approach, poor quality techs. I am sorry that i ever agreed to use their services. Panasonic offered a better service solution agreeing that SCS is not the best candidate for a job. They wasted 2 month of my time. Kept me without TV and did not even issue any sort of apology. Basically the way it is there - tech blames the receptionist for providing wrong info, receptionist blames the owner and the owner blames all of them. And nobody can provide a service. What a joke! I have purchased many used TVs from them in the past for my bar, and I've never ran into any issues. They also worked on a TV that I'd purchased at a store and was giving me picture issues. The technician was able to identify the problem quickly and ordered the parts on a timely manner. Before you know it, I was able watch my Patriots again, this time without the pictures cutting out. If you need an expert for your technology problems, I recommend this company. The technicians are knowledgeable and friendly. Their store location is easy to access and parking is without hassle. Based on some of the negative reviews about warrantee, you can't fault these guys if the manufacturer is giving them problems about your parts. Lay the blame where it is deserved and give credit where credit is due. read more

Don't even bother going there for a component repair. The owner, who's the only technician, is apparently almost never there, and takes frequent lengthy vacations, too, according to the people left behind in the office. I was told if I left something for repair, it would be "awhile", and when I asked what "awhile" meant, I was told there was no way of knowing, but that it wouldn't be short. They went out of their way to discourage me from patronizing them. This is not the way I'd run my business, and it's certainly not anybody I'm going to encourage with my trade. read more

Michael came out to check our Sony tv, he diagnosed the issue quickly and professionally. Ordered the necessary parts, and came back to fix it on our schedule. He called about 30 mins before his arrival which was great so I knew when he would be here!!!.... He was very courteous, professional, and worked very quickly. Not only that the repair was REASONABLY priced. I would HIGHLY recommend them! I will be sure to use them for all future repairs that they would be able to service. read more

After a lighting storm, my Panasonic Plasma TV was unable to pickup the cable signals from the cable box via the HMDI inputs. Where my TV is only 2 years old and Plasma TVs are no longer being sold I wanted to explore having my TV fixed as I prefer Plasma to LED TVs. I found Stereo Component Services (SCS) through Panasonic.com's "Panasonic authorized servicer locator". SCS is a family owned business. Everyone I dealt with at SCS from the receptionist ("Susan" - the owner's wife) to the repair specialist ("Michael" - the owner's son) and finally to the owner himself ("Frank") were extremely nice and professional. The way it works with SCS is you can bring your TV to their office where they will diagnosis your TV for $50.00. If you decide to have SCS fix your TV they will deduct that $50.00 from your final bill. The other option is you can pay SCS $75.00 to come to your house and have them pick-up your TV or work on your TV at your home. (Of that $75.00 charge SCS applies $35.00 towards your final bill. As my TV is 60 inches and wall mounted I opted to have SCS come to my home. When the repair specialist Michael inspected my TV he determined that I needed a new circuit board and that SCS would be able to fix my TV in my home. When the part came in, the owner of SCS, Frank, came by my house and fixed my TV. TV is working fine again; I'm glad I called these guys instead of buying a new TV. read more

Excellent service! SCS scheduled my repair the next business day. Super fast and such a headache free experience. Our 75 inch TV that we thought was a complete loss ended up being saved by SCS. Michael was such a friendly tech that came in and replaced our panel with an hour our TV came back to life. While chatting with him we are also amazed to find out that SCS not only repairs TVs but also repairs appliance such as washer/dryers and Tempurpedic beds. Let me first say that I only gave this company 1 star because I can't give them 0 stars. Trying to work with SCS to fix my television has been an absolute nightmare. Almost three months ago my Sony TV started acting up, and upon reaching out to Sony, they referred my to this company, as they are the most convenient repair company for where I live. I promptly called them and set up an appointment for the next week. The technician arrived at my apartment on that date, and started working on the TV to try and figure out what was wrong. After about 30 minutes, he informed me that he couldn't figure it out, and that he would have to take the television back to his shop to do some further, more in depth testing. He informed me that by the end of the week, I would have an answer as to what was wrong with the unit. When that Friday arrived, I called to ask how the TV was, and they informed me that it was in fact beyond repair, and nothing could be done to fix it. While I was upset with the outcome, the receptionist said to get back in touch on the following Monday since I wanted the unit back, to work out either a time to come pick up the TV, or to have it delivered back to my apartment. Shortly after I hung up the phone with the receptionist, the technician himself called me back, telling me that he wanted to perform one more test that he hadn't tried before. He said that when the test is done, if what he thinks is the problem actually is the problem, the cost of the repair would be almost $400 (more than I paid for the TV when I bought it.) Hesitantly, I obliged, and said that he can go ahead and perform the test, but before replacing any parts or doing any permanent repair to the TV, call me first and let me know the final price. He said he would by Saturday, midday. Turns out, I never received a phone call from the technician on that Saturday, so I assumed that the TV couldn't be repaired. I came to the conclusion that if I was going to spend $400, it would be on a new TV with no problems. So on the following Monday I again called the office to try and set up a time to get my television back, only to be told that the technician went ahead and found the problem, ordered the new parts, and replaced them without informing me, and now, in order the get my television back, I would need to pay the $400 that I was told the week prior. I went back and forth with both the technician and the owner of the company for the majority of that day, telling them that I never agreed to have the TV permanently fixed until I received results of the last test the technician wanted to do, which I never got. I wish I had seen Michael M's review from some time ago before calling these people, as it is true that no one at this company wants to take the blame or responsibility, and they try to blame to customer. Eventually, after going back and forth with them, they told me that they would have to take the replacement part back out and put the old one back in so that they could give the TV back to me. I said that was fine, just as long as I got my unit back, that is all I wanted. I was told this would take 2 days and they would get back to me. It didn't take two days, in fact in took MUCH longer than that. I constantly pestered this company each week multiple times, calling them to ask what is up and why is this taking so long, and they continually told me that the TV is not fixed. They refused to offer any explanation as to why it had taken so long, instead just claiming that they are a small company and have a lot of work to do. Finally, about a month ago, I was told my television was finally fixed and ready to pick up! However, once again we have gone back and forth attempting to arrange a time for me to pick it up. Being that I work 5 days a week, they close their shop at 5pm, and with my commute I get home no earlier than 6pm, I requested that maybe I would be able to pick up my unit one Saturday morning, as the technician's sometimes work on Saturdays. Upon this request the secretary said she would need to check the schedule to see when the next Saturday was that someone would be in. Here we are today, and guess what? I STILL DONT HAVE MY TELEVISION. The only way to get in contact with these people is to leave angry voicemails at their shop. When they call back they claim that they can't do Saturdays and that instead they want me to take a day off to stay at my home so they can deliver my television. This whole ordeal with SCS has been a nightmare and I am almost ready to just give up. SCS is by far the worst company you can call if you have any sort of electronics problem. The whole operation is a joke. The customer service is terrible, the ownership is terrible, and the prices are way too high for what service they provide, whether the customer authorizes it or not. Working with them is a complete waste of time. I am very surprised that an organization such as Sony has any affiliation with them whatsoever. read more

The service from the people & this company was outstanding! Michael was the technician that came to my home extremely professional, knowledgeable & personable. He checked out the TV told me the problem and the details on what was going to happen. Took the TV on Monday had it back Friday. Com'n people who does that today?! Unfortunately, I had two big screen TVs break down at the same time. I called Stereo Component Service (New England Electronics). Michael came out and took one of the TVs back to his shop and know right away what was wrong with the second TV. We had both TVs up and running in no time at all. First of all.......$40 just to get an estimate. $80 an hour for labor. I originally told them to go ahead with the repair. 5 minutes later (honestly) I called back to cancel when I realized that the repair would be $45 MORE than purchasing a new unit. When I called back (5 minutes later) I was told that they had already ordered the part and there would be a 20% restcking fee!! ridiculous. I paid $80 for NOTHING. Stay far away from these people.
