Dr.VanTyne is amazing and has helped us with our 14 year old black lab act almost like a puppy again. I thought I was going to have to put her to sleep because she just wasn't moving and in pain. She suggested a rejuvenate injection and you should see Codie now. She moves around, barks some and plays catch. It really was a shock and amazing! The staff is amazing too! We have been taking our dog here for years. I'll start by saying that, 4 years ago, we felt like this place was great. As time went on, however, it feels like we only became a money pool for them. Our dog began to have recurring skin & ear issues. We were told 3 different ways to clean him by 3 different people who worked here, but none of these treatments worked. In fact, they made it worse. We ended up figuring it out on our own, which is unfortunate being you would hope a vet would be able to give experienced advice, let alone 3 of them. We overlooked this as the business was always very kind and seemed to have our best interest in mind. As his skin and ear issues became worse, despite our best efforts, the only thing we walked away with every visit was a $300-$400 bill and the same medication that basically just kept the issues from getting worse. Finally, after years of bills and medication / guidance that did not solve anything, we tried a different vet. They prescribed him medication and his skin and ear issues went completely away within a week. It is the first time in years we have seen his skin and ears look so good and he seems happier. I don't write reviews often but it sort of hit me that our dog had been dealing with medical issues for years and we trusted this place with setting us up for success to make sure we were getting our dog what he needed. Then, after thousands of dollars, a new vet solves everything in a single visit. Hopefully we are a one off. But I would not recommend this business. read more

Seems like they overcharge for everything. At times have ended up with tons of tests that came out fine but charged where the bill was over 500. Just crazy and once w my dog who was 20 they were suggesting all kinds of expensive interventions when it was ridiculous and expensive. I walked out, called another vet where they were happy to take 5 minutes to check for FREE! - I'm sure they'll respond with some AI canned BS - don't believe any of it - why didn't you call me back as I was driving my dog down there? I had a concern about something in my dogs eye and my normal vet couldn't get her in on short notice, Sterling was the 5th vet I called going down the list and they quickly made time for her, only 3 hours notice. Everyone there was so friendly, they brought me back with them, gave the dog treats to try to comfort her, I was amazed at their approach with her, while it may have only been 5 minutes of extra time, I appreciate them slowing down strictly for my dogs comfort. I was initially concerned about going somewhere I was unfamiliar with but the experience was so good I will be taking my dog there from now on for all of her services. I had a very bad experience the last time I brought my dog in for a rabies shot. The vet tech asked us to wait outside for our appointment because of another aggressive dog in the clinic. It was over 100 degrees that day. The appointment was at 4:30, and we arrived at 4:15. At 4.45, my went into the clinic to see shat was going on. They told him they had to take in an emergency so we rescheduled and they did not offer an explanation or an apology. We sat in 104 degree car for 30 minutes. My son called the following day to request a discount over the whole ordeal and we were told we don't do that. We will never go back nor would I recommend this vet. Their cost is higher than the competition but we had a neighbor recommend them but they were wrong. read more

I went to visit this vet for the first time, and was pleased with the friendliness of the staff. Uncertain diagnosis is always difficult news, but they ran blood and sent me home with a few Rx with a best guess. Follow up was good, but got frustrated because I'd emailed them not realizing that email was no longer valid, so then I called, and no one told me the vet I saw only works Thursday, Friday and Saturday. But I got a call tonight from the vet who wants me to bring the kitty in for a no-charge follow up which is pretty impressive. This is a foster/rescue kitten, and the $400 I've already spent will not be recovered, so it was nice that she was cognizant that this isn't my pet and sensitive to cost. read more

Everyone from the front desk, to the techs, to the vet were so amazing today. Our cat is so super anxious and I thought they'd have a hard time handling him but they were so patient and thorough. They kept him to make sure he was all good to go and seemed to genuinely care about the position we were in (moving and needed him to to be all taken care of before we sent him on his way). I had two instances that made me lower the rating to 3 stars. One was when I initially took my little dog for treatment for heart disease. After we took him to the emergency vet in Roseville,ca. We were told he would need an cardiologist and echocardiogram to learn the degree of the disease. We talked to Sterling and they said one month is when we could get an appointment. In the meantime we thought we were losing our baby. Finally the day arrived and he was seen. They made me feel that I was at fault for his situation, when in reality we called them often and they just didn't seem to care. We were receiving his heart meds from Sterling vet. We called because we were running low and we knew he needed this med. We were told that there was a national shortage. Could they not email a notice to the patients when this happened.? We scurried around and found that 1800 pet meds had it and would ship it out We filled out the paperwork and pet meds faxed it over for approval. We called Sterling and they seemed uncaring when they told us they didn't receive the fax. We contacted pet meds and they said we should receive meds tomorrow. read more

My dog Lady is a nervous wreck with even a simple nail trim and they are EXTREMELY patient with her. When I started bringing Lady here about 2 years ago she wouldn't let anyone near her and they scheduled several free of charge "happy visits" for weeks just so she could get used to the place and people. Victoria and Laura are sooooo amazing with her and they are officially the "Lady-whisperers." Everyone I've interacted with are so kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable every time Lady and I visit. I am new to the area and been going here for a year. Today, I had my yearly visit for one of four of my dogs. I was told it would be 30 min, and then after that it was another 30 min. This was because there was two emergencies that came in before me. I understand emergency but when my dog had a bleeding wound they would not see me and told me to go to a clinic that took emergencies. I am very understanding but I would make sure to give a phone call if your running that behind. That's what good customer service should be about. I brought in my dog and cat here. Everything's was going well. Until I brought in my dog, she's good now but they added all these test, which I know is in their "best interest" however when I said I didn't want the test, the lady then brought up "financial troubles" very unprofessional. Was hesitant to bring in my dog after that judgmental note, but then my cat has had this ongoing problems I bring him in thankfully got a new nurse instead of the judgmental one. She did not try to add any unnecessary test her and the doctor were great with my cat. However his eye will not get better I called in twice asking if they can just prescribe me the medicine I was suppose to get weeks ago but didn't due to them not accepting the prescriptions at which then the representative tells me my cats needs to come since he didn't respond well to the medicine. News flash - he's never taken the medicine since y'all didn't accept it. I called again to see if I can just get the medicine. Was told they would call me back never did. Will not be coming back. Also called to cancel an appointment - they told me I did not get a call back since it was on Friday. It was a Friday morning. Try to be better at updating people. Y'all are open saturdays and had all of Friday. I work with customer service. Could've called with an update, these are our furr babies come on now. read more

We are so grateful for the wonderful, compassionate care we received today! (Unfortunately, I have PTSD; however no one knew this during our interaction with this clinic.) Lacy was so kind and very patient when I called even though I was crying and stuttering. Despite the fact that I was stuttering and messed up during registration, RVT Steve listened to me while Lacy performed the registration and then proceeded his exam room intake and treated our Monday (chihuahua) like she was his prized jewel. Dr. Nakaoka was professional and offered options without pressure. I am an old, retired vet tech so I am hard to please. Thank you so VERY MUCH..... September 20, 2020 Dr. Venable and staff at Sterling Pointe Vetrinary, My name is Erin Justus and I wanted to let you know how happy and thankful we are after receiving the PRP treatment for our beautiful long hair shepherd, Maui. Maui is only 5 years old and started showing trouble getting up, limping, and discomfort. She could not even make it one time around our neighborhood for a walk, could not jump in the car, could not run and retrieve her beloved ball. She lost all zest for life, and it was so sad to watch her move like a 15 year old dog. We often cried with the thought that we would have to put her down because of her pain. We had looked into hip surgery but the cost was too expensive for us. Remember, Maui is only 5 years young! My daughter-in-law told me about Sterling Point Vet and the PRP treatment that they do to help dogs with hip dysplasia and lameness. We scheduled an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Venable and she felt Maui could benefit from the treatment. On August 6, 2020 Maui had her PRP treatment and within 2 days she was feeling fine, not needing any pain pills, and showing improvement, not only in her ability to get up a little better, but the look in her eyes that she was free from her discomfort! Within, 2 weeks, she was stretching out her back legs when she got up in the morning, which she was never able to do before( she would try in the past but she just couldn't do it). She is now walking, jumping in the car, chasing the ball, and full of life as a 5 year old shepherd should be! We are so thankful for Dr. Venable and the staff and the success of the PRP treatment, we would recommend this to any one who has a dog struggling with hip dysplasia. we're new to Lincoln (Sun City) and based on recommendations from several neighbors decided on this clinic. we arrived a bit early for our new client appointment, met the front office staff and set about completing new patient info on our dog. soon after we were introduced to our vet tech, Stephanie, and went into an exam room to review our dog's health history. after the review Stephanie took the samples we provided and said our vet would be in shortly. Dr. Horn came in soon thereafter and chatted with us while examining our two year old cocker spaniel. our dog is a bit of a wiggle worm so Dr. Horn took her into another area for a more thorough exam with assistance from a vet tech. Dr. Horn returned with our dog in a few minutes, pronounced her well and made recommendations on ear-related issues / follow-up ... and we were off. everyone @ sterling point was professional and friendly. we received a phone call and email in the afternoon with results from the samples we provided on our visit. we also received an email with instructions to access their online portal for scheduling, records, et cetera. all in all, a very good first visit and we look forward to developing a long term relationship with the staff. read more

I had an appt and they got me in to the exam room right away, smooth process all the way through. I was in and out within 20 minutes. My daughter and I contacted Sterling Pointe Veterinary Clinic this morning regarding our 10 year old mastiff/pit mix who hasn't been looking well. We spoke with Georgia this morning and she said to bring her in this morning right away. My wife and daughter brought our dog in moments ago and they were questioned about if it was their first time there and if she had a regular veterinary. We don't have a regular vet and the woman at Check-In reacted in a way that made my family feel judged. Today, our dog is in a position where we may have to consider euthanasia due to health issues and all we wanted was a Quality of Life exam and to not feel judged. I have never had this kind of experience in all my life with my other dogs. The fact that we are in a position where we might have to euthanize our dog is difficult enough then have to deal with this type of customer service and lack of empathy and compassion. I had very high hopes that our experience would be easy considering our circumstances and based on the reviews on Yelp, but our experience only made things worse. I understand that these types of offices can become busy at times but I feel that customers should always be treated with respect and empathy when visiting the vet. Everyone's visit is different. This review is purely to share our experience in hopes that you will take this information for what it's worth if you ever have to visit this establishment. Fantastic! I have brought 3 generations of cats to this great team. From kittens to old gals. My girls have all been well cared for. The vets take the time with my girls. When my older gals passed away- i was moved by the tears from all at Sterling Pointe. They never rushed me while I held my girls to say goodbye. We do not recommend at all. Our chihuahua was taken in for seizures and we were told to put him on a natural food diet...preferably one where we cooked for him...what? Apparently that was the holistic doctor that saw him. Then, took our 8 month old Pitbull in to be neutered and it was recommended that he have a scrotal ablation to lower the chances of hemorrhage. We agreed and ran into problems right away. $500 later and he was swollen and oozing and looked infected. Took him back and they did a simple laser treatment (that we were charged for) that was supposed to reduce swelling. No improvement. Took him back again and they did the same thing again (charged again). I knew this required more than just a laser treatment (see photos) so I took him to Loomis Basin urgent care where they immediately pulled out several staples, prescribed antibiotics and scheduled a follow up visit to make sure he was improving. I expressed my dissatisfaction to Sterling clinic when they called and I met with Dr. Ann who calmed me down a little, examined our little dog and prescribed meds for his seizures. I agreed to stay with them and only see her. Fast fwd to October, I made and appointment for our Pitbull's wellness check and vaccine updates, specifically asking to make an appt with Dr. Ann. When I got there I said we were there for Dr. Ann and the front desk told me she doesn't even work on that day. Okay, I was annoyed but they said they would put a note in the file that stated only Dr. Ann was to be seen. Last straw was today...went in for booster shots, which is a technician visit...not vet, and when I walked in the front desk lady told me it was an hour wait because there was an emergency brought in and technicians were running behind now. I was not happy. I told her that I had enough and would be taking my dogs elsewhere. The front desk lady was pleasant, did not try to argue, she simply said she would print the vaccine records for me. I proceeded to ask her some questions regarding how long I had before his boosters were due. I was upset, but not unpleasant at all as there was a waiting room full of people and I just wanted to understand how long I had. At that point "Casey" stands up and walks over and says to me "Okay,I am going to need you to show us a little patience." #1, her input was not necessary. #2, thank you, Casey, for telling me how I need to react when I take off early to go in for a scheduled appt and am then told I need to wait for an hour! She then told me, "We can't control when an emergency comes in." Yes, Casey, but you can control when you pick up the phone to notify customers after seeing that an emergency comes in and is going to cause a delay. I'm sure the front office staff would have had no problem doing that...instead of waiting til they show up! Efficiency and customer service...definitely not their strong suits. Disclaimer: I only write reviews if it is amazing service or terrible service. There is no in between for me because I don't find a lot of value in something being "ok". That being said, on Monday, 10/3/16, my 6 month old puppy and 5 year old German Shepherds were playing in the yard. My puppy had a small chain collar on and somehow in the midst of playing my big guy, about 120 lbs, got his nose stuck under her collar. I was inside and heard death screams from both dogs and ran outside to find they had become entangled in the choker. The puppy was being choked to death because the chain got wrapped around my larger dogs snout and fastened under his upper fangs. How they ended up like that, I will never know but they were both in extreme pain, screaming out, and the puppy was terrified, peeing all over them both. While trying to save her from being choked without injuring him, I broke my thumb but finally got them freed from each other. I was a little frantic to say the least because I saw blood everywhere, not realizing it was from my thumb, not my pups. I managed to calm them down and immediately drove them to this vet as it was the closest to my house. Upon arriving, I explained that I was not a customer but told them of the situation. They could easily see my hand and that I was bleeding everywhere and my dogs were a little freaked out. I just wanted to have them checked out to make sure the puppie's throat was okay and that his teeth and snout were okay. Not only were they unconcerned and showed a complete lack of regard for the animals but told me, and I quote, "well we are going to have to send you somewhere else because we want to close early today." The receptionist handed the older lady a card to another clinic, somewhere in Roseville, to hand to me. I was so upset that I told them they were ridiculous and walked out. I went to the other vet on Gateway and for a second time, nearly the same result as they told me they didn't even have a vet in the office on a Monday during regular business hours! That's another story and review though. I would NEVER give this place my business because closing "EARLY" is more important than providing proper care to animals despite that being THEIR BUSINESS. read more

I called this place because it was close by and my poor kitty needed to be put down, and didn't know who to turn too. This place was super friendly and understanding. Plus they did have a lot of options to help with passing and the ashes. They even gave me a sympathy card in the mail and there prices for the process I think was more then fair.
