Can't say enough about Dr. Christine Haas & Bowmen Veterinary Hospital. Just for some context, we live in ROCKLIN, CA, and there's plenty of Vets between us and Auburn, CA. We travel a lil ways because of the treatment our fur animals, and the care they receive from Dr. Haas and her staff. She really cares about what she does and shows in her bedside manor when examining / treating our pets. She does so much more than her yearly exams and vaccinations. She takes the time to discuss our pets behaviors, diet, and their usual environment. Guiding us on preventative care vs. reactive care. I can go on and on... If your looking for a good Vet that is not trying to charge you for something you don't need, and actually takes the time to help you understand the importance of prevention to common health conditions, look no further. PS I posted some pix of our fur family! They live a great and healthy life!

While I very much liked Dr Haas, I can't say the same for staff. Jade specifically. Quite rude. I'll be going elsewhere in the future.

They are courtious, caring, knowledgeable and reliable. I appreciate that we have never been encouraged to complete more than the bare necessities of care. Rather than encourage costly procedures, they have always been quick to prescribe simple interventions for our problem prone dog. (These low cost solutions that have always worked for that matter). My wife and I enjoy the staff, finding them friendly and able to accommodate our questions... Which I admit are likely hard to answer as both of us are medical professionals and we tend to appreciate details more specific than would be expected. We started taking our dog to SAV on the recommendation of a friend who also takes their multiple animals there. I'd like to pass on that recommendation to anyone seeking an exceptional family of veterinarians and staff. Thanks for taking great care of our pet SAV!

Was double booked and asked if I was here for a totally different shot I said no heart worm shot n bordella shot. He looked at Jenna n she said oh that must be another dog. Doctor was great discussed how she healed from her getting neutered 2 months ago. Said she did good, and requested medication for her to travel which he prescribed. Doctor left and she took my dog in back and I waited for 30 min. Asking reception where is my dog she only getting two shots. Jenna finally came in and said it takes 10 min for a heart worm test. I told her I didn't request a test! She informed me she needed one to get the shot. I told her that's not what the doctor said. She had all her lab work done previously when she got neutered. She said that was 2025 last year. I said could you please go back and read her chart you got the wrong dog! She was here two months ago. To make it short we were there for hour and 15 min. I refused to pay for the test that I did not request she wouldn't give her the heart worm shot. Secondly manager asked why I requested for Jenna not to be seen in the future with my dog. Told her the story and she said it's just a miscommunication and told the receptionist to make sure they charge me for a physical exam. Which they added the heart worm exam with it. That cost $82 for the exam n I usually pay only $45 totally ripped off and manager didn't help at all!!

I scheduled a hospice consult for my sweet 13 year old lab and received a quick response with a call from Jennifer. Even though I never met Jennifer, I felt like she was holding my hand during the whole process. When it was time for our hospice consult, Dr. Chandler came to our house and assessed our boy along with going over quality of life. She even gave him a treatment before she left to see if it would help his mobility. After the consult, I received a very thorough email from Dr. Chandler giving me a breakdown of my dog's prognosis along with some treatment options. She reached out to other mobile vets on my behalf and provided helpful links for every option of care that she gave me. Jennifer also followed up to check on Oakley to see how he was doing. When it was time to make the decision for me to let him go, I texted Dr. Chandler (after hours on her day off). She still responded. She came out a couple days later to our home and we were able to give him a peaceful goodbye on our lawn, which was his favorite place. Dr. Chandler treated Oakley with such care and dignity from start to finish. Jennifer also called me again to check on my wellbeing a week after we said goodbye. Dr. Chandler reached out to me on a Saturday to let me know she had Oakley. He was ready to return home. She worked with us on getting him back and even went as far as matching the tissue paper to the color of his fur for the packaging. She also included a beautiful dog card along with his name which was handwritten. It lays against the paw print and clipping of his hair she gave us. I hope I provided enough details as to why Love Always is not only the best, but the only option I would ever use when having someone take care of my beloved companions.

She gave us the option to leave her with us, take her/cremate and return, or cremate and have her hang with other amazing pets. This was not done with conversations about facts, but with statements lacking nuance and assuming that all people who are not vets are idiots. This veterinarian may not be for you if you believe in species appropriate diets, spacing out vaccines, using titer testing, or any attempt to engage in dialogue that goes against their beliefs. I was treated like I might lick my uncleaned counter after prepping raw meats or like I might lick my fingers after picking up dog poo in my yard. On the positives, they do have good weekend availability, fairly reasonable pricing and if you are 100% on board with Western Vet medicine without need for intuition or nutritional approaches, then you will like most of them. There are some truly great people at this vet clinic & not every experience has been negative. My review is based on their unwillingness to have the pet owner be a part of the process and to not being open to dialogue about different approaches to nutrition & care options.

He had started bleeding on Sunday - and we could not find an emergency vet open that had available appointments - but ended up at the one in Shingle Springs - DO NOT USE THEM. It was a horrible experience with them. They took him away from us - and would not let us stay with him and put him in a cage in the back room for over an hour. They even wanted to anesthetize our boy Elgin to get x-rays of his sinus and chest. They did not seem to care that he was a senior - 13 yrs. almost - and doing that would have killed him on the table. They even had the nerve to bring us the 'orders form to sign' which had that they were going to go ahead and anesthetize him anyway - if I had not caught that on the 'form tablet' before I signed - he would have been killed at that clinic. He turned out to have an oversized heart - and a 'dark mass' in his chest. The bill was around $800 for that one visit. The doctor wanted us to go to Loomis Basin Clinic and have a CT done on him the next day - what a stupid vet - they have to anesthetize to do a CT. Do NOT use that vet!!!! The next day - Monday - we called around and found that Companion Vet Clinic had an opening to see Elgin. When we got there he had started bleeding profusely from his nostrils again. BUT, they put us in a room WITH HIM. The vet tech came in and turned out she used to be the x-ray tech at Loomis Basin and did the CT's for this type of condition - probably tumor (cancer) of the sinus. She said that he would not have made it through the CT - age and the end results would have ended his life. Furthermore, she told us that that procedure (even on younger dogs) is brutal and does not end well - most can't recover or even tolerate the surgery (which would be after the CT). SO, we let our boy Cross The Rainbow Bridge with the help of the staff at Companion Vet. THEY ARE THE BEST PEOPLE WHO REALLY CARE DEEPLY ABOUT YOUR BELOVED PETS. Highly recommend them. And we found out they are open - emergency hours - on the weekend. They made the arrangements for cremation and everyone signed a beautiful card to us about our boy Elgin. So. Take your pets to the BEST - COMPANION VETERINARY CLINIC!!!!

Maggie Laney introduced me to Dr. Pam and the Meadow Vista Veterinary Clinic. Now my story goes like this. Our puppy had a lower canine tooth that was turned inward and hitting the roof of his mouth. The first vet saw it and said that might be a problem. The second vet said it was an immediate problem and had to come out right away and was referring me to a specialist. As I was standing in her office, my phone rings and it is the specialist telling me they had a spot open to see Edson at 7:05 am the next day. I went to see them and I should have asked how much the consultation would be. The "specialist" said it was a problem and needed to come out right away. She spent less than 15 minutes with us and then her assistant came in with an estimate sheet that was between $700 to $900....something didn't feel right. I went to the desk to check out and was hit with a bill of $125.00. Now I know something wasn't right. I called my wife and said I think we should get a second opinion. I reached out to another vet to tell them I needed a second opinion. They fit us in and spent the better part of an hour going over a diagram and plastic model of a dogs jaw and teeth. He explained in detail the pros and cons and the risks involved. He he said it was a doozy and that it needed to come out...His estimate was $350. His office visit fee...$35...Only problem was he was booked out for another week and a half. Meadow Vista had us scheduled in for the extraction a few days later and I decided to trust Maggie's judgement. After all, Maggie does know what she is doing regarding dogs and their health care....if she trusted Dr. Pam, that was good enough for me. So why am I telling you all of this.....to share my perspective.... my EXPERIENCED perspective..... to let you know how wonderfully blessed your community is to have a vet like Dr. Pam at the Meadow Vista Veterinary Clinic....Edson had been seen by three vets and a specialist. My experience helped me to understand that a good vet is the one who wants to know how to take care of most, if not all, of your pet's health care.
