Johnny (yeah that's really his name) made a house call on our piano last week. I made the…read moreappointment on-line for tuning but I knew it had other problems with the damper pedal and some of the keyboard "slumping." He arrived right on time, very friendly and professional. Endured an enthusiastic welcome from our Bichon and got to work. It was worse than I thought -- "In 35 years, I've never seen anything quite like this." Words you don't want to hear. A piece missing that works with the damper pedal; not sure why is came loose but it did. Came loose and disappeared. Johnny disassembled half the piano looking for that piece. Had to lock the dog up because he had the piano action upside down on a towel on the table and the piano keys laid out on the floor. Pianos have a lot of little pieces, I now know. Couldn't find it anywhere. He was about to move one of the clamps from the middle to the end and hope that worked when I recognized the piece in his hand, which my husband had found on the floor a month earlier and said "Better hold on to this. It looks like it could be something." Call it male intuition. With the correct piece in hand, he put the part back where it belonged, reassembled the piano -- and then two hours later -- finally was able to tune it. He was at my house three hours, only charged me for two. $121. That's a deal in my book. And best of all, the piano now works and sounds great! Highly recommend Johnny's.

The greatest challenge was that I wanted the piano to be kept upstairs in our second living room, and thought it would be impossible due to the staircase turns. I spoke to Sam on the phone and text messaged photos of the stairs with measurements to consult whether it would be a possibility before making the drive to the store. Don't let the store's small entrance fool you, WA Pianos had more selection hiding inside than I anticipated, and saved us a trip to Bellevue (which would have been our 3rd piano store attempt traveling far from Kitsap County). After coming to a price that we could both agree on, I purchased a beautiful secondhand Kawai upright 45" K-200 series. I expressed my concerns regarding minor scratches on the black ebony finish, which I was pleased to know could be easily taken cared of by the store's piano detailer. Delivered before the end of the week with great communication from the movers. Thank you Mr Sam for guiding us on this important purchase, you are truly appreciated. (Also note- after researching online and comparing prices, I can confidentially say I paid a good price and I have zero buyers remorse!)
