6 month post op review…read more Well, 6 months post operation for bilateral lens replacement cataract removal surgery, and I'm still NOT wearing glasses to see, to read, watch tv, look through a microscope, fly. I put this off for a few years, I was scared about anyone operating on my "eye balls", BUT, my vision was so BAD, I was pretty much blind, everything looked like I was trying to look through a glass of chocolate milk. My quality of life was zero, and I couldn't fly a plane anymore. Post op, I'm 20/20, funny that, I was told the best I could expect was 20/40 and would need readers. THAT hasn't happened yet. One caveat: I see LIGHT stronger than I expected, and I must wear sunglasses when outside in sunlight, and in some buildings where the light is too bright. I just see light really well! And the colors? THE COLORS! I didn't know I wasn't seeing colors for many decades, but I see them now. I can also SCUBA dive without special lenses in my mask! I see my gauges and dive computer without assistance. I'm a REAL patient, a real guy, I wasn't asked to post this at all. I posted this to tell you what it's done for me.

I had an appt. at…read more8am, the staff and patients are waiting outside of the building, the key holders had an emergency, locksmith is en route, the doctor is on his way from Orange County (mind you there were others who had an appt at 7:30 who had been waiting ahead of me). Discussing the matter with other patients, I guess this is a trend where the doctor or staff would have an emergency and appts would get cancelled or postponed. This trend is an indicator to me that either this is a failing practice or the doctors do not care about timeliness. The only positive is that there was a nice lady who seemed to work there who tried to offer rescheduling services and give us an update. I could tell that she was taking all the face shots. I left after waiting for an hour because if the locksmith arrive, we still have to wait for the doctor who should have been in his office at 7:30 and not "on his way". He would then have to address the backlog and it would be another couple of hours before I would get seen. I gave this place a chance despite the negative reviews. I would recommend that you pick another place.

In addition, I found Lawrence to be quite professional and thorough as well, while being very kind and helpful. I initially came to this particular branch because my usual LoBue office was not available to see me for an irritation in my left eye. Dr. Miller is currently assisting me with resolving the issue, and I am pleased with the treatment and consultation I am receiving. When I came to him I was 20/400 (legally blind) and he got me into surgery in less than a month. It's been a month now post-operation and I can see 20/15 and only use reading glasses for small text articles on my phone. In addition to the actual results of the exam, the quality of care and customer service is top notch and all of the front and back office staff are very helpful. I asked him a simple question, important for me, but he just ignored me and left to deal with another patient. His assistant didn't even want to listen to this question and rudely stated that she has to help the doctor (although before that she chatted in the hallway with a nurses). The nurses there are very good and attentive to patients. The doctor lied that they have no machine for measuring visual acuity (with the balloon) in the clinic, although they do have it! A nurse passed by and saw how rude this doctor and his assistant treated me, she pitied me and measured my visual acuity (1 minute, the doctor and his assistant didn't wan't spend even a minute+ on me! Although both times I had to wait the doctor in the lobby for 2 hours after the appointed time)

Unfortunately this time I had to get a Diabetic eye exam which I've never even heard of or knew that exam even existed! Fortunately the wait wasn't long and all of the staff at Pacific Eye Instatute were all very nice and professional. I wished the doctor had explained to me a little bit better about what was going on with my eyes because I feel like there is more going on than meets the eye! Lol .. No pun intended! I understand that I have been diagnosed with dry eyes but that doesn't explain the massive floaters that I have now. I mean ever since being diagnosed with Diabetes I have had these floaters just get worse! I'm really concerned as it's blocking my view at times. I was told to pick up some eye drops for dry eyes then he said that he would like to do more test! I'm thankful that he is looking more into what's going on because this is a very uncomfortable & painful experience and it's scary too! He also talked about doing some implants to create more natural tears. I'm going to try the eye drops first and hope that , that will help and then maybe I won't have any more issues. After the procedure, they assisted us to have the next appt without giving us any information about the medications that doctor prescribed and never asked us which pharmacy we want to send it to. I and my husband was waiting in the front desk waiting for the staffs to come back from their lunch to ask them about medication prescription. The lady who was sitting behind the front desk, assised us for the future appt earlier came with a rule attitude. She asked us the information so she can check. After checking my husband's information, she told us that doctor already prescribed med, you guys just go home, the pharmacy will call when they are ready with the meds. I asked her which pharmacy they sent to since they haven't asked us about the pharmacy that we want to send. Then I asked her give me the name of the meds that doctor prescribed. She wrote down the medication lists that my husband taking at home, not the medication for his eyes. She even did not want to ask the nurses or doctor to give us an assurance answer so we can go home after a long day waiting. How bad the service they are. Patients keep waiting and receive a rule and bad attitude from the ladies who help with the front desk
