My husband and I began using Steve Hom Insurance nearly twenty years ago, with approximately $1600 in savings for our total package (home, rental, 2 autos) PLUS adding an umbrella policy. Talk about amazing service and pricing! More recently, with the difficult insurance environment in California due to wildfires and storms, Steve Hom Insurance found a new carrier and policy for our home overnight at a negligible increase in rate when our insurer decided to not renew. Two years later, the new insurer decided to stop doing business in California. When our policy came up for renewal, we were in the market again as many major insurers are leaving California. Steve Hom Insurance secured multiple quotes, other firms provided additional quotes. No company came close to the quality of insurer and rates as Steve Hom Insurance! Companies other than Steve Hom Insurance provided quotes running from 4 to more than 6 times the cost of the existing policy. The quote Steve Hom Insurance provided was within our target range, our knowing what current market pricing can be. Steve is one of the best - probably "the best" insurance agent in the market. I was shopping around for home and auto insurance needs and stumbled across Steve's company in CEA page, within hours of contacting him -- I received a well though out comprehensive insurance solution that's tailored for my need. He spend several hours analyzing my problem and came up with a proposal that I was not able to turn down. I believe Steve takes personal interest in his clients and does not run after billing & revenue like 95% of other agents. read more

You would be a complete idiot to use this agency!! In fact, Steve Hom and group should not be making any financial decisions for anyone. You will lose thousands of dollars, like I did. In fact you will find much better rate offerings elsewhere from these clowns. This stems from his agency saying I needed to do tree trimming to maintain coverage. I went over with them with detail of what needed to happen. They provided a diagram of what needed to happen. It was followed. After this tree work was done, this agency came back and said I now needed to also illegally cut down neighbors trees and some oak trees protected by California Law (even though these trees also met their guidelines). After me telling them that asking me to do illegal things is unreasonable, they tell me that they have other coverages that don't require any of this work. $$Thousands of dollars lost. In researching other policies outside of this agency, it is clear that this agency offers policies at costs significantly higher (~25% greater) than other offerings from very stable insurers. You can do way better than this agent/agency. Even more so, after Steve Hom knew that this was upsetting to me, he never reached out to me. In the 35+ years of having insurance agents, I have had only one other issue. That agent did what was needed to rectify the situation. Steve Hom just ghosts you. Any agent can put on a smile as he signs you up for insurance and takes your premiums, but a crappy agent like Steve Hom does nothing. Steve Hom should not be in any business that requires financial decisions. I suspect Steve Hom is somewhat of a fraudster and he gets a favorable benefit by trying to keep me with the insurance company that he directed me towards and was willing for me to spend thousands of dollars for his continued benefit instead of him just pointing me to an insurance that didn't require the work to start with. For better service/rates try an agent like Roger Fernando @ State Farm. read more

When it came time to cancel our property insurance, the response I got from Steve was to send a signed letter. I did that with a scanned letter via email. Then he replied to my email by saying that I needed the policy number on the letter, no reason given. Well, my family and I had already packed up our boxes and were between houses. I couldn't dig up the home insurance policy number. So I asked if he could look it up. He said that he was on vacation and to call the office. Okaay. This could have been an easy docusign process if we followed Allied insurance's protocol. Docking two stars, one for giving incomplete instructions on the cancellation letter, and a second one for putting the onus on the customer to contact the office...Traci at the main office did help us with the cancellation. Update: Steve addressed this issue when I also cancelled my auto insurance. We moved to another state where our home and auto insurance could not be renewed with Allied. This time the cancellation was handled electronically; back to a 5 star rating. Thank you. read more

Not only did Steve beat the rates on my existing bundled insurance policies, but also gave me better coverage with the new insurance company. He brought to my attention that dwelling replacement cost with the new provider would be 200% vs only 130% through my existing provider! He and his staff have got to be some of the best insurance agents out there. I started off just with car insurance because I got tired of paying these wack ass prices when I was doing it on my own. Everything was going great until about 2 years in when we got passed around to different agents from Steve himself and the agents kept changing. We were constantly referred to nationwide directly or told and promised resolutions that never happened. Finally when it came time to cancel the policy, the new agent was clueless and finally countless forms later, I noticed that they only canceled the house policy but kept charging for the auto.
