Met Dr. Carr and he explained everything that would occur. Sam (Samantha) did the imaging, quick and easy using their digital equipment. Back to the chair for a consult and a clean. Both Dr. Carr and Sam has a nice gentle touch. It all seemed thorough and professional. I can only speak to this procedure but for the price of half a bag of groceries at the Whole Foods next door I received a proper cleaning and exam. I'll be back.

Four years ago, this office informed me that I had severe periodontal disease, which conflicted…read morewith years of positive reports from my previous dentist. Since then, I have been scheduled for periodontal cleanings every three months at an additional cost of $53 per visit and was told I would need them for life. In late 2024, one hygienist told me I no longer showed any signs of periodontal disease and that I could return to regular cleanings every six months. However, at my next appointment, a different hygienist insisted that no such update had been given. At my most recent visit, I was again told I needed lifelong periodontal cleanings and would continue to be charged the extra fee. The office appeared very disorganized: after my teeth were polished, I waited more than 30 minutes with no communication. Because they were so far behind, the dentist eventually completed the cleaning, confirmed that my teeth and gums looked healthy, and, when asked, stated that what he performed was a regular cleaning, not a periodontal cleaning. When I questioned the additional $53 charge, he referred me to the front desk. The staff member at the front desk insisted I had received a periodontal cleaning. After speaking with the dentist, she returned saying he had "misspoken," but waived the fee for that day due to the confusion. She further stated that I would be charged $53 for all future visits. Given the inconsistent clinical information, lack of communication, and unclear billing practices, I will not be returning to this office.

I don't like feeling that I am not the focus of the medical care and the results are evidence why this is not a professional way to conduct business. I also reject the attitude that making a client wait more than 20 minutes after an appt time is acceptable. Now I will have to see another Dentist to repair the shoddy work on the crown.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND I made an appointment with Dr Ruff…read more I hadn't been to the dentist is five years or so because I had babies pretty much one after another , so I know I needed my teeth cleaned (that's why I made the appointment) The ONLY reason I made the appointment was to get my teeth cleaned! He comes in and checks me out after I get X-rays and proceeds to tell me that I have moderate Periodontal disease, gingivitis, and 4 cavities,and some pretty significant bone loss in my jaw. And he told me that when he was testing what condition my gums were in. And I quote " you bled like the proverbial stuffed pig" end quote! So then he tells me that he can't clean my teeth because they are SO BAD that I need to have the antiseptic cleaning. (Keep in mind my month isn't bothering me in anyway) so then he keeps telling me about the antiseptic cleaning, it's a 2 hour visit that they will numb my mouth because the tarter build up is so significant that it would hurt me to bad to not have numbing. He said I need one appointment for each side of my month. I said wow, can you show all this tarter ? Because my teeth feel smooth and nothing in my mouth is bothering me, I take really good care of my teeth! I'm 35 and have only had 1 cavity my whole life! So he pulled up the X-rays and starting scanning them and says "well I can't seem to find it on your X-rays but it is a significant amount and I will show you on your X-rays when you come in for the Antiseptic cleaning" And he only was able to point out 2 cavities out of the 4 he said I had. Which I hadn't even noticed in my mouth. That's how tiny they are. So I went out to pay for nothing cause that's what they did. Besides take X-rays. And the lady at the front desk was like "that's $430.00" I was like WHY? They didn't even do anything?!? She said "they didn't?" I said NO! Then she went back and talked to Dr Ruff and he told her that I didn't get the cleaning and that I need to make more appointments for the 2 cleanings. I paid them a ridiculous $302.00 to look in my mouth and take X-rays. I did not make any follow up appointments because he would have just took all my money and told me I need more and more stuff done. Scammer! Follow up... I went to my regular dentist and had X-rays and got my teeth cleaned and he NEVER said anything about all that bad crap Dr Ruff was saying I had. I got my teeth cleaned and a good report from my regular dentist. And it costs me WAY less money.

I definitely understand understaffed however this was completely unprofessional. If you don't have enough employees, stop taking new patients! I ended up coming to a new dentist, they did a full exam new X-rays and stated not seeing any infection or need for a deep cleaning, concerns of why a antibiotic was prescribed. Just seems rushed understaffed and no communication skills.

I've had numerous dental issues and I can't say enough about the level of care I have received. Time and time again Dr. Andy has demonstrated a consultative approach to care. Not one time has he skipped an end of day post procedure follow up call. Dr. Andy was instrumental in my orthodontic treatment as well. I don't think I've ever interacted with a more wonderful administrative team many of which have been a part of West Lake for years. 1 Star -- Very Disappointing Experience…read more I was a longtime patient of West Lake Dental, but unfortunately my most recent experience has caused me to decide to take my dental care elsewhere. I arrived for a scheduled cleaning and was told when I got there that I also needed X-rays and an examination by the dentist. I had not been informed in advance that these would be required, so I declined them. I believe patients should be given reasonable advance notice about additional procedures or services. After I declined, I felt that the atmosphere changed considerably. During my cleaning, Michelle became visibly upset and told me a personal story that ended with the statement, "People are assholes." The remainder of my cleaning felt hurried, rough, and uncomfortable to me. I subsequently called the office and asked to speak with Dr. Andy Maples about what had happened. I was told that he would probably call me toward the end of the day. I never received that call. There was also a separate issue involving updated medical records. I was working with Annie to arrange to complete the forms at home because I did not have all of the necessary information with me. During that conversation, the office manager repeatedly interrupted and, in my experience, spoke to me in a disrespectful and scolding manner. I ultimately left rather than argue. I later received a letter from the office manager stating that the office does not allow "abusive" or "inappropriate" language and telling me to find another dentist because I refused to follow the office's procedures. I strongly disagree with that characterization of my conduct. I did not use abusive or inappropriate language toward her. I have been a patient for many years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I believe patients deserve clear communication, courtesy, and respect when they have questions or decline something they were not previously informed about. I have decided to find another dentist. I am posting this review simply to accurately describe my experience and to let other patients make their own informed decisions.
