Went in today for a routine clean and X-ray. Short story: I had as great an experience as one can have. Five stars. Longer story: Friendly place. Met Dr. Carr and he explained everything that would occur. Sam (Samantha) did the imaging, quick and easy using their digital equipment. Back to the chair for a consult and a clean. Both Dr. Carr and Sam has a nice gentle touch. It all seemed thorough and professional. I can only speak to this procedure but for the price of half a bag of groceries at the Whole Foods next door I received a proper cleaning and exam. I'll be back. read more

I agree with many of the negative reviews here... office was dirty, the dental hygienist was not very skilled and messed up multiple times during my cleaning and I asked specifically to be notified if anything wasn't covered by my insurance and yet I was charged $450 for x-rays I didn't ask for. Unfortunately I only went here because it is one of the only places that accepts my insurance but I will not be returning and I recommend others don't either. read more

I would give negative starts if I could. I had a tooth break in early March. I've never had any dental anything done (I had an exam that left me in severe pain 4 years ago and a couple wisdom teeth consultations within the last 4 years but nothing else) and I have medical PTSD which made the thought of getting it fixed terrifying. I originally was going to have my tooth repaired at the Loveland office by Dr. Gomez on March 21st but there was an issue and I had to reschedule; the soonest I could get in was April 4th at the Fort Collins office. I was really nervous about it because my spouse had a good experience in Loveland and the change in venue made my anxiety bad but I wanted to see Dr. Gomez and it was see him two weeks later in Fort Collins or wait several weeks to get in with the Loveland office. Since it's a broken tooth I decided to get in faster. Communication with the Fort Collins office from the start was much worse than I experienced with the Loveland office. There were longer delays in getting answers and questions had to be asked repeatedly, with different answers being given each time. I was told that they would have no problems prescribing me a benzo to help with my severe, crippling anxiety to help me sleep the night before and get through the procedure. Their website says they do sedation including oral sedation. April 3rd came and they hadn't called it in. I was anxious and couldn't sleep because I had this procedure looming that felt like I was going to die if I got it done because my anxiety was so out of control. They finally called around 10am on April 4th. I'm a day sleeper, they were told from the start that I 100% must have the latest possible appointment because even then I'll be getting up at least 2 hours earlier than normal to make it in time. I hadn't really been able to sleep yet. I thought maybe they were calling to tell me they finally called in the medication for my anxiety. No. They were calling because it was snowing lightly and there was barely a dusting of snow so they wanted to move appointments earlier so they could close early (this snow storm amounted in trace amounts of snow that melted by the afternoon, by the way). To say I was shocked and appalled is putting it lightly. I refused to move my appointment and hung up the phone. A short time later, I called back and asked to speak to the manager. Talked about the situation with the medication and being pressured to move my appointment to an earlier time when they know my situation. The manager honestly seemed like she couldn't have cared less about me as a person, patient, and potential income source if she had tried. I called and talked to her multiple times trying to get the medication situation sorted out so I could handle going in and eventually I found out that the doctor on duty the previous day, Dr. Kim, "never" writes any scripts for anyone unless she's personally seen the patient in question so that's why I was not given the medication I was promised. I ended up having a huge panic attack and canceled my appointment. I feel like my needs as someone with anxiety, PTSD, and an alternative sleep schedule were not valued at all and that if they're going to let a random doctor just decide not to provide enough anxiety medication to help a patient through the night before and day of a terrifying procedure then they shouldn't say they offer oral sedation. I have contacted their parent company, Smile Generation, with my complaint but it's been 3 weeks now with no response from them. I don't know if/when they will respond but there's honestly nothing that would ever make me go to the Fort Collins office for any reason after my experience there. read more

Had an appointment for a sore tooth. I was informed that the ligaments holding the tooth in place were inflamed and that it should take a couple of weeks to heal. I sought a second opinion after the tooth failed to improve. With in minutes of my appointment I was informed the tooth was completely fractured, unfixable, and needed to be extracted. This location took no accountability, only stating that fractures are hard to see in an x-ray and that I was still responsible for payment. Everybody makes mistakes, apparently this company takes no ownership in theirs. read more

I had three teeth extracted here and it was a terrible experience, I felt the dentist did not know what she was doing. I went back for a follow up, because I was having issues, she came in and said "Everything looks fine" and sent me on my way after literally waiting 45 minutes for her 10 seconds of feedback. I've now spent hundreds more having her work corrected. This place is terrible and they run like a factory and try and get as many patients through as quickly as possible, all about the $$$ and they do terrible work. read more

I don't usually yelp review anything but this place was bad enough that others should be aware. This place was effectively useless, I would not recommend it to anyone. They did not listen to me about my concerns over dentist visits regarding my severe TMJD. They proceeded to take teeth radiographs with a technician that treated and talked to me like I was a child. The doctor was kind to me and seemed knowledgeable, however she recommended a cleaning that would cost me $800 out of pocket, and I have very good insurance. The hygienist then tried to guilt me into this treatment repeatedly while she cleaned my teeth. Most importantly, no one listened to me when I told them it's difficult for me to keep my mouth open. I left in tears because of how aggressively they handled my jaw. read more

I've had mixed experiences here. My first couple visits were fine. Mandy, the dental hygienist did a great job, and was very professional. I did have some more intensive work done. The work itself was fine, but I ended up getting double charged which ended up becoming a 6 month ordeal. I paid at the time of the work, but still was billed. I ended up calling the office once a month for about 6 months (each time a bill for it came), and having them track down the bill, and the payment (them saying they would deal with the discrepancy each time). It eventually got sorted, but there was something wrong with that. Maybe bad communication within the office? I don't know... Mostly the staff at the office do a good job with patients. I only had 1 experience in the chair that was bad, and it was clearly an outlier, so take it with a grain of salt. I was halfway through a cleaning, when someone asked the staff member who was with me to help them with something. I ended up sitting in the chair halfway done with a basic cleaning for about 2 hours. Overall the positive experiences were good, but the negative experiences here were pretty bad. Ultimately I chose to change dentist offices though. read more

Let me just start first by saying Chantelle is the nicest Operations Manager and is very greeting to new and previous customers. Dr. Harvey performed two crowns on me and they feel great. I echo Natasha's post. I have no idea where all the negative reviews are coming from. I have been seeing Dr. Stanley for a couple of years and they have been nothing but excellent. I feel like my time and my dental needs are respected and they have worked with me when I needed alternative financial options for more expensive procedure. They fixed work that was done poorly by other dentists and I have had no issues with pain management. I am comfortable at the practice and am confident that they are treating me and my kids with the best and most advanced technology available.. read more

I had once left a very nice review for this dentist office, sadly however I must change that. Over the past couple of years on three different occasions, they have called me a few days before my scheduled appointment to tell me they have a scheduling conflict. I'm sorry, but I travel for work and make my appointments months in advance. If they are overbooking or having other calendar issues, then that is a professionalism problem. Learn to manage your calendar. I also agree with another reviewer in that they do try and nickel/dime you into add-ons and upgrades... they have also experienced high turnover of dentists. That should be enough warning to anyone who values their dental health... read more

I strongly wish they would allow for negative stars. If you are thinking of going here DON'T. You get a different person every time, their bed side manner is horrible, they test fraudulently in order to up sell you on services. When you refuse the up sell they refuse to treat you and give some untrue analogies to excuse their behavior and decisions, the place is not clean, you can tell the service is less than par just walking in the door. Horrible place. When you schedule for a certain service that is covered by your insurance be aware that they will manipulate your tests in order to get you to pay for a more expensive service. I didn't cry. I didnt leave trembling and sobbing. This is a major deal. I havent been in yrs. I haven't returned to any dentist tried in fort collins. This whole group was kind, patient, friendly...no cockiness, no contempt for my anxiety....and did most of the work in one nonpainful visit. I told my husband i was yelping this dentist--"this was really important to you". Referring to a positive experience! Oh and they treat people with Autism. The billing lady is nice...and i witnessed her handling a grouchy old man. The dentist is cool and laidback, but not too coxky. The office staff has an obvious "family" repertoire. read more

This was my first visit to a dentist since moving to Fort Collins. I used a Groupon which included x-rays, cleaning, exam and a take home whitening kit. It was a good deal and I read good reviews about this place so I was all about it. The staff and doctor were friendly and professional. My wait time was also minimal. The facility was very modern. After x-rays the doctor looked at my mouth and said he was impressed at how healthy everything looked and jokingly asked what my secret was for not having any cavities. They scheduled my cleaning for a week later and I went on my way. A week later a technician came in, looked in my mouth and said she "wasn't comfortable" doing a standard cleaning because I had signs of periodontal disease (although the doctor had not identified that the week before) and needed a special cleaning (that would cost my insurance more than $1000!). She refused to do the cleaning I had already paid for unless I did another procedure for an additional $80, which I agreed to. I have never had any problems with my teeth before or since. I suggest you beware of the friendly staff who sells you very expensive treatments you may not need. Get a second opinion! read more

First off let me say that I don't know where all these negative reviews are coming from. I did notice they are ages old and new dentists have taken over the practice. I saw dr Stanley today and was IMPRESSED. As someone with extreme dental anxiety....this guy knows his stuff and also knows how to make his patient feel Comfortable. I had to have 4 cavities filled and it was so quick and painless. This is coming from a person who screams and cries and panics at the dentist regularly. To respond to all the negative claims on here that the patients are duped in to extra services..... This was not the case with me. My four cavities were addressed quickly and effectively (he also has a great technique for administering the numbing meds- minimal pain from those injections) and I got a lollipop! Lol.....was a very endearing small consolation for the minimal pain that was caused to me ;). I've just moved to Fort Collins and dr Stanley is officially my new dentist. I would recommend that you don't listen to all these negative reviews from before the practice was taken over by new doctors and try it out yourself. Every person- from front desk to back office- treated me with dignity and respect. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have three words.... UH MAY ZING! I am visiting from out of town and upon my arrival at 4 p.m., my crown broke in half. Called several dentists that popped up first on my internet search, but none could fit me in until I found Modern Dentistry. The sympathetic staff had me in the office within an hour, and Dr. Stanley had a new permanent crown oin within 2 hours. I may have to travel from Park City, Utah to have him as my new dentist. My new crown fits better than the old one, which by the way was only a few months old, and I could not be more pleased...if you like 60's rock music and a cool relaxing vibe with excellent dentistry, this is your new dentist. read more

My tooth was fine before I had a crown put on. Well it got infected after the crown. I ended up needing a root canal which scared the heck out of me as I just don't like anything invasive. It was not the fault of the dentist, stuff happens. I needed numbing injections which I also have a fear of but I survived. The endodontist I think Dr Mains (?) had this great bedside manner, I had to interact with several staff members during this time. They make the crowns right in the office with a 3D printer so the final report is that the procedure was painless, the crown fit well, I had absolutely no residual pain. The staff members are so nice, the costs I incurred were very reasonable. My son recently went and had a few cavities, a cleaning, and some info for follow up in the Longmont location, he was very satisfied. read more

Beware of this scam! These guys are in it for the $$$. I wnnt in for a filling on one tooth. On the way tp make the appointment , I called to make sure this would be covered bu my Humana; and was reassured by the desk person that today's visit would be covered by my insurance. They put me thru a huge number of Xrays and photos , then recommended I get a special "Deep cleaning" twice for $500 each! They then asked me to wait and speak with their financial person. After a while , I tired of waiting and went to the front desk. I was told that was their way of doing business. They then submitted a bill to Humana for $780. I called the office and was told that was their routine ,and I would not receive a bill. That remains to be seen. I then called Humana and they told me that the dentist I saw was not included in their network of another few days!! Despite my prior requests. And I never got the filling I came for. My oponion: these guys are money grabbers dedicated to billing as much as possible to whomever possible; while ignorring the requests of the patient. BEWARE!! read more

Excellent care. Dr. Stanley the dentist is professional, funny and kind. The rest of the staff were all very professional and checking on my comfort and concerns. This office is immaculately clean. I would highly recommend Dr. Stanley and his staff and the care at Fort Collins Modern Dentistry. All options for care were clearly communicated as well as costs - I made the decisions for my treatment and felt fully informed on the pros and cons. I was so grateful they offered an insurance plan because I don't have dental insurance and it was all going to be out of my pocket. I will say if you are looking for a traditional, formal and maybe intimidating dentist - Dr. Stanley's personable attention, warm personality, and humor may not be for you. Dr. Stanley cares about his patients and is a perfectionist in the treatment provided and he keeps the atmosphere in the office relaxed. I like that. I don't want to be treated by someone I cannot talk to or ask basic questions. Dr. Stanley takes time to make sure I have all my questions answered and is approachable. I also like the way he treats his staff - he is a team player. That is important to me. I have seen arrogance towards their staff in other dentists but never from Dr. Stanley. I came to see Dr. Jacob Burry as a second opinion. I am a Nurse, and very careful who I choose to take care of my teeth! My family and I have had a very positive experience during our visits! I could tell dr. burry was knowledgable AND not just out to make money off of my insurance. The prices were very fair, and the staff extremely competent. In addition, the check-in process for new patient so was super-easy! If you are someone who wants a QUALITY dentist who puts you at ease, you will enjoy Dr. Burry and staff. I just moved back to Fort Collins and needed to find a new dentist. I chose this Modern dentistry because I had been to one in Arvada, and they are close. I read the previous reviews, but decided to give them a chance. From the moment I walked in the entire staff was very friendly and very accommodating. I normally hate going to the dentist, but this visit was totally different. Dr Mueret was amazing, and made my visit very comfortable. She was very thorough and very gentle. Everyone who worked on and with me were very knowledgeable and very good at what they do. I have never left a dentist office thinking, wow...that was great! I highly recommend!! read more

Definitely not impressed. I have been going to this office for 5 years and they were great at first. The last 2 years have been disappointing and I am finally pulling the plug. They don't treat people as if their time and money is valuable. They never have the same dentists, and the best ones leave before my next appointment. I always arrive early and end up waiting past my appointment time to see someone. Once you finally see a hygienist, you'll have to wait another 15-20 minutes to see the dentist, who will likely just quickly glance in your mouth and move on. They don't even confirm insurance until you get there, making you wait even longer! This office is just a nightmare, stay away if you want good service at all. read more

If you're having acute dental pain, the dentist here are scared to treat it. I'm not sure why they are so worried about their DEA licenses, but they will tell you to take Tylenol even when you were having severe tooth pain, with a large cavity and infected root. There are plenty of other great dentists in the area. Don't waste your time here and money. read more

*BEWARE*! My husband went in for a simple cleaning, and was told he had "deep pockets" in his gums so the hygenist refused to do the cleaning. The dentist concurred with this diagnosis. So, he was told he needed a $1000 procedure (of course, using their insurance plan it's only $800) before they would even consider doing a cleaning. I told him to get a second opinion, so he went to another dentist this morning and guess what... NOTHING at all wrong with his teeth or gums! I plan on reporting this practice to the dental board and the BBB. BEWARE!! read more

During my first appointment they gave me an injection of lidocaine which I asked for, however they failed to mention they were also giving me epinephrine. This could have potentially caused an arrhythmia in interaction with my other medications which they assured me that they checked to make sure it was safe to give me. Epinephrine is known to potentially cause arrhythmia and since my other medications do too the risk of arrhythmia was compounded. They seemed to think their computer system was sufficient in detecting interactions however it did not pick up on the possibility for arrhythmia. They claimed that they had initially recommended I go somewhere else since their office is busy with a lot of patients and they simply don't have the time to address my needs. How about taking on less patients so that you can provide quality care? They are a corporate office and it's clear that their first priority is making money by putting as many butts in seats as possible. I also mentioned to them ahead of time that I have a disability and I need disability accommodations. They ignored my request for accommodations and referred me out on the basis of my disability. Going to the dentist is scary for a lot of people not just me so the way I was treated reinforces that stereotype that going to the dentist isn't safe. If you have a family member who cannot advocate for themselves do them a favor and take them somewhere else where they won't be treated as a number. read more

Dr. Carr and his entire team are the absolute best!! I am new to Colorado and was needing a good amount of work done. They got me in fast and have helped me more than any other dentist! The office is wonderful, the staff is incredible, the hygienist is amazing, and Dr. Carr is the best! Don't read the old reviews - The practice has a new dentist and what looks like all new staff now in August 2013. I am an old grump, and very picky about who treats my family, and I would tell you if I had any concerns. This is such a professional and pleasant dental practice - they are wonderful and will take good care of you. You should go to Fort Collins Modern Dentistry. Honest. After my insurance changed and we had to change dentists, I was nervous about going to a new office for myself, my two daughters, and my husband. I am so glad that I made the change. I am paranoid about cleanliness in dental offices and I was watching them like a hawk on my first visit to make sure they were "clean". The office and treatment rooms are immaculate and all of the staff follow strict cleanliness protocols. I have been pleased on subsequent visits about their cleanliness. Very friendly team and I adore Dr. Symon Stanley. He asked ME what I was concerned about and then they offered me multiple choices on how to treat my leaking crown issues and the pros and cons of each. I was told up front about all costs and what my insurance did and did not cover and what I would be paying. There was no attempt to push higher cost services. I was told about all choices but the final decision was mine to make about what I wanted to spend. I am so impressed with my treatment that I have been handing out their business cards to friends and neighbors. Bet you will too. :) read more

Anytime I have called to get in for a regular appointment the longest I have had to wait is a week and the few times I have had emergencies they got me in the same day. I love the modern office with digital x-rays and the option for in-house crowns instead of waiting for them to be sent out and come back. I have had no problems with billing and they have been more than willing to work with me on a payment plan if needed. They have gone over all the charges with me before hand to make sure I am ok with them. All the staff are great at answering questions and listening to my concerns, and doing what I want for treatment. I haven't had any of the pricing troubles described in other reviews, but that may be because I am lucky enough to have insurance through work and not them?? I also had to have some work done by the endodontist that is on staff. Very friendly and the GENTLEST procedure I have had for oral sugery. No pain at all with the numbing injections! read more

This was my first visit in 14 years to a dentist due to extreme anxiety. The dentist and hygeist quickly put me at ease and didn't make me feel bad about not coming in in so long. Even when they gave me the bad news (all of my wisdom teeth have to come out) they did it in a way that didn't scare me away. When I went in to the office I fully intended not to come back again for at least a year or longer. They made me feel so welcome that I already scheduled my 6 month follow-up. This is my third visit to the office. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I have been working with Stephine for the past year now on saving a few of my teeth. She does a great job of cleaning my teeth and keeping me in line with flossing and brushing regularly. I did not enter this office with dental anxiety. I did, however, leave with it. And not over the pain of the procedures (which, to give the office some credit, was fast and state-of-the-art), but over the pain of dealing with the smiley Stepford Wives staff and organization. Came in for an exam and was talked into a procedure that I couldn't afford. Really wanted a statement that I could send to my insurance, but the office assured me that my insurance would cover the procedure. Now I'm a younger man, so it's possibly my own fault for being naive, but as I attempted to deal with the office over the next few months I could feel a thick layer of pretense and slime over the whole place. So I get roped into a payment plan and was later contacted by my insurance who assured me I'd have no more payments to make on the work. When I tried to get ahold of the office to tell them to stop the automated payments, I quickly found that the contact form on their website is there purely for show, and the office passed around my complaints like a doobie, claiming that my insurance wouldn't cover what they said they would. I tried desperately to get a bill or a list of procedures from the office several times to compare to documents from my insurance, sometimes in person, but it was never produced. Now I'll reiterate that it was probably my own fault for being talked into this procedure, but the administration at this place was so subversive and unhelpful that even a straight procedure would've probably been a royal pain.
