Great service, to give you a great smile. As a new patient I had my concerns; however, the staff made me feel at home and next thing I knew I had X-rays done and then laid out supine with the dentist looking me down in the mouth! No pun intended, Dr. Czekala inspected my teeth was straight forward and we discussed my concerns and then the hygienist took over and cleaned my teeth. A follow up appointment was needed to correct two cavities and in all my years of dentistry dread...Dr. Czekala quickly filled them and released me. Wow, pain free dentistry and for me a first. I can only wish I had come here years earlier and wouldn't have experienced the torture from another dentist. I've been seeing Dr. Czekala for the past two decades (essentially my entire life) -- since before I even began regularly seeing a dentist! My mom used to bring me with her on dental checkups since I was a baby. I was an extremely shy kid all the way up until high school, and I was actually scared of most adults. If you see any studio photos of me before age 7, I look absolutely terrified in all of them because I was always scared of the photographer. HOWEVER, I was one of the few children who truly enjoyed going to the dentist. I could never understand why other kids dreaded the trip. The reason for my excitement? Dr. Czekala! He's absolutely great with kids, and has a very kind, outgoing, and genuine personality. Whenever I see him, he greets me like I'm an old friend, even though we only see each other twice a year. My favorite part of coming here as a kid: after my checkup, they would give me a coin to insert into the coin machine and I would get a little toy prize! The whole staff is superb. Customer service here would get a 6-star rating if I could rate higher. The receptionists are always friendly -- I don't think I've ever encountered one who didn't seem happy with their job. Last week, I was arriving late to a checkup due to traffic on a rainy day, and when I called in letting them know I was going to be late, the receptionist repeatedly assured me that it was fine and that she was actually about to call me to check if I would still be coming! This really added a personal touch to the whole experience, and I felt like they really cared about my wellbeing. I saw Dr. Moonka today who did some dental work for me, which turned out to be more work than anticipated. I have been coming to this office for 15+ years, and had to switch due to insurance. I came back because my experience with a different dentist in the area was awful. I'd only had two dentists in my adult life, and both retired on me! I'm close to retirement age myself now so when I needed to find a new one my priorities were stability, conservative dentistry, and a place where they didn't up-sell procedures and products. After having bad luck with the crew that took over my old dentists practice a family member recommended this place and it really fits the bill! This is a traditional dental office in an older building that houses other several other dental professionals . There are 3 dentists here and I've had a chance to see them all during various cleaning appointments and treatments and wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them. And with 3 the odds are good that I won't be having to shop for a new dentist anytime soon! I get cleanings every 6 months, always have, and the hygienists are great as well. I think that even the medical industry is subject to pressures of sales. That is why I chose Dr. Czekala's office to treat my teeth. My teeth are important to me. They are not as important as my eyes but, they are up there in the hierarchy of body parts. The last dentist I went to advised me to pull my molars because it was difficult for him to reach them. I have been cavity-less all my life and my molars came in perfectly. I thank my mom for choosing the right milk man because good teeth are a product of good genetics. Dr. Czekala's office is comprised of a group of hip, zenlike staff that makes me feel at home when the spinning machines reach into my mouth. They do not sell you anything. They provide sound service with a smile. Call me old fashion but, that business model has always appealed. Depending on your health care provider, I recommend this office. The reason for the 3 stars rather than 4 is that its location is in San Ramon. I am not a big fan of San Ramon. read more

I've been going to Dr. Czekala for almost 30 years. He has done a wonderful job for my wife and me for that time. I started taking my mother to see him after she moved out to the valley from Oakland. She really liked her care and Dr. Czekala saw her through a few rough times as she had some complicated problems. The story began over 30 years ago when i cracked a tooth while eating some popcorn at a friend's house in high school. Fast forward to 8 months ago when the filling and the tooth took a huge turn for the worse late on a saturday night and I was in terrible pain for the rest of the weekend. Dr. Czekala's team ushered me in early monday morning,examined me, sent me next door for a routine root canal (which turned out not to be an option), consulted me again and then sent me to a specialist. Tooth was pulled, implant process started and apparently , the whole process takes about 6 8 months which allows the tooth and the bones to heal and improve the prognosis for a successful outcome. I just went to see Dr. Czekala to have the final crown installed. The fit was perfect, the appointment went smoothly and I have a new tooth and a reason to flash my (restored) smile. PS: IF you ever have the chance, make sure you go to the office on Halloween. Everyone was dressed up festively and I can actually say it made a trip to the dentist into a fun experience. I came to the office in pain and left pleased. All of the staff are quite nice and Dr. Czekala is gentle, sincere and equally elegant in his work, diagnosis and explanation. I had seen another dentist days before with complaints about the pain in my jaw and associated tooth. That dentist more or less did not believe me when I told him how much pain I was in and did not have a good explanation for why this cavity could be causing such pain. Dr. Czekala, on the other hand, quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to explain why I was in pain and what I needed. He referred me to an Endodontist in the same building, who was able to see me mere minutes later and also wonderful. Despite the commute required, from Berkeley to San Ramon, I will continue to happily visit his office because I trust him and enjoy my visits. read more

I had my latest cleaning this past Saturday. They're still the best Dentist, Hygenist and staff.

Czekala does a great job. He's personable and most importantly, has great technique/touch when doing procedures. He clearly knows what he is doing and takes the time to explain whatever you need - you rarely get the feeling that he's in a rush (although he's got a large office with quite a few chairs that are always filled). The staff are well trained and many have been with him for years - that's the sign of a good practice. As such, his office is always busy, so plan in advance. They do their best to squeeze you in if you have immediate issues. Since his practice is successful, I've never had the sense that any procedure was done unless completely necessary - and no upsell to teeth whitening etc etc. read more

Upon the recommendation of a co-worker, I became a patient of Dr. Czekala about 4 years ago after some negative experiences at another practice in San Ramon. I have been very happy with my experience with Dr. Czekala and his colleagues. In addition to striking me as a highly competent and capable dentist, Dr. Czekala is personable and friendly, as are all the hygienists that have worked on me. I've had a few fillings over the years; they were done with a minimum of pain or unpleasant after effects. I do NOT detect that they do "drilling for dollars" or push expensive (and often not covered by insurance) "night guards" as it seems some dentists do these days in their pursuit of additional revenue. If my teeth are in good shape at a semi-annual cleaning, they acknowledge as such, shine them up, and send me on my way with an appointment for 6 months later. Other comments: the office itself is pleasant; it seems to be a "high tech" operation (I don't claim to be knowledgeable about all the advances in dental equipment, but these guys appear to be on top of it); they keep to their schedule well . . . I've never sat in the lobby more than 5 minutes. I also like that they have a fairly comprehensive website (http://www.smilesanramon.com/), which suggests a professional and modern operation. Dr. Czekala's office has the most up to date equipment and an upscale ambiance. Staff are friendly and very professional. I've been going here for five years, and have never had a bad experience. I am terrified of dentists. But I love Dr.Czekala. he doesn't try to sell you a bunch of cosmetic B.S. and he is honest and ethical. His staff if awesome and his hygenists are meticulous and friendly and make you feel at ease. I trust him. I didn't know how good I had it there until I saw another dentist when my insurance downgraded and that dentist made me feel aweful and cost me a lot of money and anxiety to boot. I have never given my teeth the attention I should have. By the time I was in my mid-20s my mouth was full of fillings. Now, approaching 60, most of these decades-old fillings are gradually wearing out. I postponed things as long as I could until an absess put me in excrutiating pain, and I ended up going down a list of my dental coverage's 'approved' providers. I could not have had a luckier day than when I called Dr. Czekala's office and they were able to treat me on an emergency basis. It is now about 4 years later, and for the 1st time in my life I am on track for proper dental care. My past lack of routine visits to dentists has had its effect, I now have quite a few expen$ive caps (that would be expensive anywhere) and more to follow. I am very happy I was fortunate to be taken under Dr. Czekala's care. His attention to pain control is better than any dentist I visited in the past. I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you want good care without overly preaching about the past, with excellent pain control, choose this provider! I cannot say enough nice things about the two of them. EVERYONE in the office is warm, friendly, and professional. I had some old failing dental work fixed and Dr. C had the lab re-do the bridge until he was happy with the way it looked. A key to getting the appointment time that works for you is to book your next six month checkup when you are there for your cleaning. They do fill up fast & if you prefer a particular hygenist (they are all really good) that is the sure way to get on their schedule. read more

Dr. Czekala has been my dentist for twenty five plus years. Over my earlier years I have had several other dentist but none compare to Dr.Czekala. He is a true professional. His office staff is friendly and efficient. His office is always very clean. Dr. Czekala goes through lots of gloves as he goes between patients. He always washes his hands and he always changes his gloves and put a new pair on. Dr. Czekala is excellent at doing caps and crowns. He s always friendly and that old fear of going to the dentist does not occur with Dr. Czekala. I rate him at five stars and would give him more if Yelp allowed for it. read more
