I came here to get a basic checkup and cleaning and the first thing I told them was I was just looking for a new dentist who will not try to sell me on things I do not need as I just finished an Invisalign treatment. They checked my insurance to make sure I was covered. When visiting the dentist immediately they tried to sell me veneers and other cosmetic dentistry. I was then sent several letters and e-mails attempting to collect a very small balance (at that point they should of written it off), this took place after I told the front desk I was no longer going to them and I was going to stay with my regular dentist. My cleaning was fine but the sales tactics I was not a fan of. Make sure there are no hidden costs to your cleaning or treatment. read more

Ok their service and office is 5 stars, however their dental plan they have is very situational as to whether or not it is beneficial. If you are older and do not have dental insurance and have lots of things you need done orally then I would get it. If you are relatively young and only have minor stuff if anything then I would not get the plan. I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months and that costs about $120 bucks out of pocket without insurance or their in house plan. I signed up for their in house dental plan thinking it was a good idea because I needed 4 cavities filled too. Well the first visit did not count as covered because I was signing up while paying. Ok, fine. So I pay full price for the first visit and then pay $40 a month for the next 6 months. I and then got x-rays and cleaning free. Ok well over 6 months of pay yeah maybe that was worth it. Then I got 10% off of 4 fillings and a bone extraction which was done fast and amazingly painless and priced very well. I live 2 hours away now so rather than make me schedule an appointment it was fast enough she could do the procedure right then and there. And let me tell you not only are their skill and equipment top notch but their cleaning techs are very nice people too and the Covid protocols they followed really impressed me quite a bit, like with the air purifier machines they had in each room. OK ok I'm going a little off topic here. So at this point I am feeling like hey maybe I am a little ahead with this plan thing. Fast forward to now, it has been 6 months since my last cleaning and I haven't gotten any other procedures or x-rays in 2 years and now I started a new job so I had to cancel my scheduled cleaning. They are only open Monday through Thursday so that kind of stinks for me having just started a new job and not really being able to take that time off work. Then to boot to reschedule it will be a 2 month additional wait. Okay so now I have paid in $240 at this point and by the time I get a cleaning it will be another $80 in plan dues plus I will wait an additional 2 months. I mean I get it, they are busy and they didn't force me to chose this plan. I guess I am more upset with myself then anything about this whole payment plan and having to move away from a dentist I like. It's just a cluster of emotions and hardships. That being said their staff is very nice and even though I am upset with their dental plan and I am canceling it and going to a local dentist for cleanings from now on, I will still call and schedule any bigger procedures to be done here. I trust them a lot. Like a lot a lot. I don't trust their in house dental coverage plan but I trust their equipment and skills. I don't know how many of you have had cavities filled but I had only ever had one done before coming here so I did not have much to compare. During the procedure they recline the chair back fully so you are lying down and looking up watching a TV. They ask you what you would like to watch. SUPER COOL. They put headphones on you so you can listen to it which is so so so so nice. You don't have to hear them working on your teeth. I did not have any scary thoughts like I usually do while getting my teeth worked on as I was not focused on it. I was watching Pscych on Netflix lol. Anyways I guess I was tired when I went in but the chair was so relaxing I literally had to try to keep myself from falling asleep, mainly because if I did I think my head would move like crazy lol. Anyways I don't even remember how long the procedure was and honestly, yeah right after I knew I had had it done but now, 2 ish years later, I can't even tell and all I remember thinking back on it was how relaxing it was to sit there and watch Psych. I think that pretty much sums up how awesome they are at dental work. You don't think about it while it is happening. You are pretty relaxed, and not in a weird waterfall sounds and Enya music kind of way lmao, and in the end you could genuinely forget that you ever had anything done in the first place. Thats why even though I live 2 hours away I will still go here for bigger things I need done. read more

Wow! If I could give more stars I would! I haven't been to the dentist in *gasp* 10 years! I was nervous but more excited to start getting my teeth fixed up. That's when I found Dr Kachalia and his team, who are all just wonderful! The office is just gorgeous! Not like an outdated, old school dentist office. So modern and new! I've been to the office twice now, the first time for exams and a cleaning and the second time was today. I had a bigger appointment today that lasted around 3 hours and was shocked when the asked, "Hulu or Netflix?"!!! I sure loved this dentist until this past year. I was really disappointed in their ability to reschedule. I work in the veterinary field and I was monitoring anesthesia for a patient. The surgery went over and I missed my appointment. They are now sending me letters to pay the fee of not giving 48 hours. How was that possible in my situation? Life happens! I've never cancelled an appointment with them in the past. When I try to reschedule they are booking out six months. 3 months went by and I moved jobs. So I called to change the day of my appointment because my day off changed. They called back they they are booking out 4 months. So not only did I have to book 6 months out the first time but now another 6 months to get a new appointment. I have called multiple times to speak with someone and no one calls me back. I was really bummed because she is an excellent dentist and always so lovely and gentle. Time to move on. read more

I'm writing this review for Dr. Duncan and Kachalia. After looking for a dentist to help my wife fix her front teeth, I figured I would go for a check up since I haven't established my long term dentist. Dentistry can be scary these days considering many corporate offices are being opened and it's just hard to find people you trust. I can confidently say these 2 dentists show true ethics and professionalism, and at the same time provide a genuine and comfortable experience. My wife and I have received several fillings and each appointment was easy and comfortable. Their injection techniques to help numb the teeth were so pleasant it was hard to think you were getting a shot. And on top of that, they have a certain appliance that can help reduce the numb sensation afterwards, which made the rest of my day comfortable. They both are also on top of the latest dental technologies, as I learned Dr. Kachalia is a well-respected lecturer on dental materials. Combining both their expertise and awesome patient chairside manner, I don't see why families would not choose them as their dental providers. Finally, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. If you need a specific day for an appointment and the schedule appears to be full, they will place you in a waitlist and call you once there's a spot open. That shows true commitment to making sure you're taken care of! I drive from a city several towns away but I plan on continuing to see them for my dental needs. Highly recommended! read more

Dr. Duncan and Dr. Kachalia have an excellent practice. I have been Dr. Duncan's patient for eight years and she is the best dentist I have ever encountered. I have had small and major work done and Dr. Duncan has consistently demonstrated her extreme competence. Not only does she have the hands of a fairy when she touches my teeth and gums, but she has the most wonderful cheerful and compassionate personality. As the anesthetic wears off from my appointment earlier this morning, I thought I would take a few minutes to express, once again, my deep appreciation for this handsome couple who have found their calling in life. Truly, Parag and his charming wife Charity are doing just what they are meant to do, and they do it superbly. First and foremost, they have the best personalities of any dentists I've ever been to. Their "bedside manner" is kind, informative, professional, gentle, caring, and encouraging. Equipped with all the latest technologies, they work swiftly and efficiently, and seem to really enjoy their work. That is a comforting feeling for a patient, as opposed to other dentists who can be technical, aloof, and often less friendly. Duncan and Kachalia are happy, cheerful people who also happen to be professionally skilled in the delicate work that they do. I have known them for over a decade and I'm grateful they are located nearby and make my dental visits less stressful every time. As a busy individual, I made going to the dentist one of my last priorities. After repeated prodding from my wife about how good this place was, I tried them out for a cleaning and checkup to see what she was raving about. I mean, it's a dental office -- who raves about that? Well, after my visit, I could easily see why she was so happy. The facility is cozy and modern, the staff there is professional and friendly, and the experience was actually pleasant. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Dr. Kachalia, who happened to be heading out the door. He took the time to pause, smile, and welcome me to his practice. (My other dentist would have probably bolted out the door.) His wife, Charity, thoroughly and clearly explained her findings in a manner that was easy to digest. And my hygienist did a fantastic job. We recently moved from Texas and needed dentist. After reading the reviews on Yelp, my wife and I decide to give Innovative Dental Concepts a try. They had a high bar to meet, our dentist in Texas had a state of the art practice. Dr. Duncan and team didn't miss a beat. The first exam was very thorough and she offered some proactive and preventative suggestions. I subsequently had an old filling and crown replaced, she explained the procedure easing my anxiety. It was painless. They also provided music and Netflix, NCIS is a great distraction while in the chair. They have clearly embraced technology and they appear to be early adopters leveraging 3D imaging of my dental structure. This will help overtime to determine excessive ware patterns and other things. I will be honest, as a prior dental hygienist I am extremely hard on dental offices. I expect a great deal not only from the dentist, but from their staff. This review is more about the staff than the dentistry. I was referred here by several friends after my dentist retired. I saw Dr. Charity Duncan. I needed multiple fillings re-done as the previous fillings were 30 years old. Dr. Duncan was great. She was thorough, explained everything well and was highly competent. I cannot complain about the quality of her work as she did a tremendous job. However, during the course of my work, the person who gave me the initial quote on my work left employment at the office. My initial quote gave me a breakdown of the work needing to be done, my insurance portion, and what my portion would be. They also recommended a dental guard due to teeth grinding and told me it would be covered if I waited until the next calendar year. I would have to pay 20%. I went in the following January, and had the dental guard made and paid my portion. Over 6 months later, I received a statement billing me for the full amount. They had never gotten verification from my insurance company of coverage. So I got hit with an unexpected $485 charge. I was furious. Calling to confirm coverage is literally the bare minimum in this situation. If I had known, I could have made a decision on if I wanted to pay out of pocket or not. Once the work is done, you no longer have that choice. I was not offered a discount on the device until I made a big stink about their error. After this, we had a few other issues. My husband was referred to another provider for an extraction who was drunk. Yes, it wasn't at this practice but they did refer him to this other provider. And we got hit with several other bills for other family members 6 to 9 months after the work was done when we were not expecting these expenses. The only statement I ever received was for the night guard, the rest we would be asked to pay at our visits. For work done over 6 months ago that we barely remembered had been done. The final straw was that I have a difficult schedule as I am also a healthcare provider, and waited 7 months for my next cleaning appointment. I was called a few weeks before my appointment and told that the practice would no longer be open on Friday and they would be moving all their appointments to Wednesday. I can't come on Wednesdays because I have a full patient load on those days. Other providers would have honored the appointments they already had scheduled instead of just closing those days down, and stop booking further appointments on Fridays and transition their new appointments to the alternate day. But not this one. They had no consideration for the needs of their patients and their schedules at all. When my daughter went in for her cleaning and was asked to pay $145 dollars for prior dental work yet again without a statement, I was done. I asked her to call and request a full statement with charges, insurance paid portion and our portion listed, and instead they sent a receipt of payment. It just didn't sit well with me because it felt like they weren't being honest as to the charges they put on the patient. I decided to go to another dentist. I contacted Innovative Dental Concepts 3 times. Once by text, once by email, and once by regular snail mail letter to request that they send the dental work records to my new dentist. I expected that they would contact me and tell me their was a modest fee to send the records, but instead they never contacted me and my new dentist was unable to obtain the records as well. It's a shame, as I think Dr. Duncan is a fine dentist and I would have continued as her patient if I felt the financial integrity of this practice was honest. read more

It's VERY hard finding a good dentist these days and there are tons of them out there who didn't attend one of the few accredited schools for Dentistry; not sure if the Dentists have here as I don't recall but they must have otherwise I would not have paid them a visit. For a while I used to get all my dental work done in Michigan when I was there throughout the year to visit my family, but my dentist there wasn't able to fix an issue I was having with one of my teeth so I decided to visit the Dentists at Innovative Dental Concepts and was pleasantly pleased that they weren't trying to sell me a box of goods for my teeth like everyone else. It was also nice that the male dentist here is actually affiliated with some School or Institution where he teaches and studies new advances in Dentistry. It's these kinds of people who should be dentists as they love what they do and want to be at the leading edge of things. On a side note in regards to other Dentists and Experiences that I've had in California: Don't EVER trust ANY dentist that you go to using one of those $49 exam/ x-rays, cleaning, etc... deals on as they'll always tell you that you have 6 cavities and offer to help repair them for $110+ each. I actually had this happen to me once when I was in college under the same boat where I didn't have insurance but needed to get my teeth cleaned. Once I graduated, got a job, and had dental insurance I went to a dentist in Michigan and was told I only had 1 cavity which he fixed. It also seems to be the foreign dentists that I've come across who try to do/pull this, and this guy was an Asian guy. Wish I could remember the place, his name, or more as I would surely report him so he wouldn't be able to damage good teeth for a buck. I used to come here when I had Dental Insurance back in 2008 but since then I've learned that the Individual plans don't really cover anything and tend to be even more expensive then just paying for the cleanings yourself. Unfortunately I'm self employed and would be looking to get an individual plan because of the Tax Deduction so I was hoping I could get a plan that covers me and that they accept but they don't accept most insurance plans so I haven't been back since :-( It still amazes me when I talk to people and they recommend their dentist, especially and old ex-girlfriend of mine from many years back who recommended her family dentist. That dumb guy damaged the enamel on her teeth when she was a kid having her braces taken off, heck NO I would never go to that dentist!!! read more

So if you are looking for the best dentist office in the Bay look no further. The staff is professional and always do a kick ass job. The office is modern and exceptionally clean. I am use to the standard old school cleaning but at Innovative Dental they use the proven cutting edge cleaning techniques. I had the Guided Biofilm Therapy cleaning and it's a mind blower! So my teeth felt cleaner and my gums were less sore then the normal cleanings I use to get. Almost no manual scraping during the cleaning. If you have a chance I highly recommend that you try this new method of teeth cleaning it's literally a game changer. There are certain things in the world that are revolutionary like the wheel, electricity, internet, and now there is Guided Biofilm Therapy. I almost never write reviews but I had to about this. I started as a patient of the previous dentist who sold his practice Drs. Duncan and Kachalia. The previous dentist was simply amazing, and I felt comfortable that anyone he sold his practice to would be equally good. I definitely was not disappointed. Every member of the staff is incredibly helpful, friendly and explain things in a very easy to understand manner. They also explain what you need to do immediately and what procedures can wait and their ethics are top notch. While your mileage may vary, when I was in getting a filling they noticed a small groove in my tooth that could easily turn into a cavity and offered to seal it during that appointment at no additional charge!
