We have had a great experience with San Ramon Orthodontics. My son needed orthodontics a bit earlier than most (it will be a 2 Phase process), and due to a bad experience with a prior dentist - he is nervous about anything being done in his mouth. The staff at San Ramon Orthodontics have been incredibly gentle and accommodating of his fear. They explain everything that they are doing to him, and check in with him every step of the way to make sure that he is ok. The office staff are always incredibly fun and welcoming - there are frequently contests that you can enter at check-in, coins that you can earn and redeem for little prizes from the machine, treats and prizes during holidays, and rewards given for accomplishments (like my son stopping biting his nails). It really helps the kids feel at ease and even excited about coming in. The office is also new and modern-looking, always spotless, and they seem to have the latest equipment and technology available (haha, much better than when I had braces as a kid!) They have also been very flexible and accommodating when we need to shift appointments, or when my son has broken a bracket or something unexpected comes up that needs to be addressed. We loved the orthodontist so much that we asked if they had any recommendations for a dentist nearby that would also be good with kids with a fear of the dentist, and they recommended a great one nearby that my son and I now go to regularly. My son is just finishing Phase 1 of his orthodontic treatment, but we will definitely be back when it is time for Phase 2 as well. read more

While other practices told us to get some tooth extractions, Dr K advised us a treatment which didn't involve any extraction. Her office staff is very welcoming and empathetic. My son had his braces cared for by Dr. Patterson who is just a wonderful Orthodontist and I loved stopping by the office because of Dr. Patterson's professionalism and wonderful front office staff. He then decided to bring in a partner... When Dr. Patterson decided to cut back he wanted us to give lachica a try as our new replacement for my son's second round of braces. Her bedside manner was abrasive, she was rude and after many visits I spoke to Dr. Patterson to let him know that I would no longer be using his office for Orthodontic services. Even my kids didn't like her and they would repeat to me the off comments that she would make as well as other parents telling me the same thing. It had nothing to do with 'change" it had to do with her abrasiveness. I can deal with a lot but when I'm spending thousands of dollars on braces "twice" I do want someone to at least be nice and not try to be a high pressure salesman. A lot of parents left this business because of lachica. She makes you feel like the only important thing to her is your money and nothing more and tries to pressure you into services not needed. Thank goodness I found a replacement orthodontist by the name of Thompson Tom in Pleasanton. He reminds me so much of Dr. Patterson and he has a wonderful disposition and gives you options. Sure it's a drive since I do live in San Ramon but to not feel pressured and feel like you're only money on legs, I'll drive anywhere. *She fired the warm and friendly front office staff that have worked over 20+ years for Patterson and everyone that I know that used to go to Patterson has nothing nice to say about her. I'm actually VERY surprised to see so many positive reviews since I never hear anything nice about that office any longer... Do yourself a favor and ask people that used to go see Patterson what they honestly think. You will get a totally different story. Just being honest. read more

Just like everyone else, I had braces when I was in high school. And neck gear. My experience with him wasn't great, but what did I know - I had nothing to compare him to. I stopped using my retainer shortly after because my orthodontist at the time said I didn't need to wear it after a couple of years. Then about 6 years later, I find out that if you don't want your teeth to ever move, you have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life. So I found myself at Dr. Patterson's office, who was referred by my sister's nationally renowned oral surgeon (well, that's what he called himself). Dr. Patterson is everything my old orthodontist isn't. He's friendly. He's not condescending. And this time around, I was a candidate for invisalign which made the experience all that much better. He's very thorough, and always takes the time to talk with you. He doesn't have kids, but it certainly feels as if he take care of his patients as if they were his kids. If you are ever in a consultation with him about braces, he likes to show you his permanent retainer. I don't know why. He did it to me twice. Which was fine, except that he opens his jaw and drops his head to show me, but he drops his head too far so all you're looking at is the top of his head. It's pretty funny to me. I might have to tell him one day. Or he'll read this review and find out, then ask me why I never told him. I absolutely love Dr. Patterson. As an orthodontist, of course. Oh, and as my neighbor. I've lived in my neighborhood for years, and I saw him for the first time a couple week before Christmas, because I nearly ran him down with my car while he and his wife were walking their dog. It was chilly that day, and he was bundled up, heavy jacket with a hood. You know how I recognized him? His smile. His perfectly aligned, white smile. I wonder who his orthodontist was... read more

Two of us in our household have been treated by Dr. LaChica and the staff for orthodonic treatment. More than a year ago, my son had a consultation for braces. We were told by another orthodontist that he should have teeth pulled and would need to wear a neck gear to start off. This did not go over so well with a 10 year old boy...and having been there myself, I knew compliance with a neck gear wasn't going to be easy. We then went to Dr. LaChica's office to see what her recommendation would be and there was no need to pull teeth or the neck gear if my son was going to be very compliant with rubberbands. 12 months later, his treatment is progressing nicely - he is very diligent about wearing his rubberbands and doing what is asked by Dr. LaChica and staff. He is always comfortable and the staff has always been very friendly and includes him in the conversation regarding his treatment. That is important to me, because it shows their respect for young kids as well as adults. I also decided to seek orthodonic treatment (again!) for myself and have just completed my 1-year of Invisalign. My teeth are nice and straight and I am happy with all the service I have received, especially coordinating appointments for both of us whenever possible. Everyone has always been very friendly, efficient, and helpful. I would definitely reccommend Dr. LaChica and Dr. Patterson and their staff for orthodnic care - for both young and old! read more

I had braces 20 years ago and am in the lucky boat to only need retainer maintenance. My dentist referred me to Dr. Patterson's office a couple years ago when my permanent retainer came loose. Fast foward a couple years and I needed another repair. Before scheduling my appointment I noticed Dr. Lachica has taken over the practice. I was a little concerned by some of the low Yelp reviews, but was reassured by the positive reviews and decided to give her a try. First, Dr. Lachica impressed me with her business skills. I had concerns over the quote I received over the phone and Dr. Lachica very professionally discussed the issue with me when I arrived for my appointment. After we resolved the cost of the repair she began working on my retainer. She offered to polish behind my teeth while my retainer was off...bonus! She ended up doing all of the work herself and asked if I had time for her to rework the retainer instead of just adhering it. She kept mentioning she is a perfectionist and she didn't disappoint! The product used to adhere the retainer is the smoothest application I have had in the past 20 years! Also, I thought there may have been something wrong near my gums and she gladly took another peek before I left. I wanted to wait a while before writing this review to make sure her work stood up, it has been a few months and the retainer is still doing great... and feels awesome. Dr. Lachica is amazing! I had a quick turn around to get my teeth perfect for my wedding day. I was able to get the smile of dreams in 7 months by working with Dr. Lachica's team and using Invisalign. Invisalign is a very easy process as long as you stay committed to wearing your trays. The only people who ever noticed I had the trays in either knew I was doing Invisalign or they had done it themselves!!! Dr. Lachica's team was incredibly accommodating and squeezed me in so I could keep on track, no matter what my work schedule threw at me that day. I would give a 6th or bonus star, if one were available. I enthusiastically give Dr. Margarita Lachica and her fine staff at Lachica Orthodontics a perfect Yelp 5-star rating! I took the time to read all 21 prior reviews, and noted that, save for just a few, all gave 5 stars. I can only imagine the few less than glowing reviews were outliers, and care not to speculate what the other side of the story may have been. To me, exceptional service happens when I receive a service that far exceeds my expectations; were I witness a "blow your hair back" experience; where I received more service for the monies spent than I expected, etc. I am here to say that Dr. Lachica blew my hair back a few times during my 14-15 month stint for adult orthodontics (Invisalign). She practiced and taught cosmetic dentistry for years, prior to completing her orthodontics residency, and she totally threw in some not-so-minor touch ups on my teeth that were just masterful. Total surprise, insane service, you name it. She did not lecture me or charge me extra for losing invisalign trays, when she surely could have. My teeth needed some extra help, and I am certain she could have found a technical reason to levy some fee - but she did not. I just finished my little invisalign tour, and am now waiting for my retainer, and can honestly say that I am blown away by how good my teeth look. Dr. Lachica's chair-side manner is refreshing. She is so uplifting and engaging. And downright funny! Even when you can tell they are behind - due to late arriving patients like me - her disposition is incredible. She runs a super tight ship. Her staff is incredibly well trained, and just knows what to do. They are also similarly engaging and friendly. I am so thankful for having been referred to Dr. Lachica. A clean, sleek office that is very tech-centric since Lachica took over for Dr. Patterson. There are laptops at each chair to help the technicians work faster and more efficiently. Took my 10-year old in for an ortho consultation. What an amazing experience! The staff is so friendly and helpful, and both the doctor and staff have such a passion for their work. Although all patients are different, I especially appreciate the fact that Dr. Lachica took a conservative approach to my child's treatment and informed us of our options. I ended up making an appointment for my 6-year old, who will eventually need braces due to crowding. I got my braces off when I was 13 and stopped wearing my retainer for a solid 8 years or so. I'm currently 38 so was hesitant to do any treatment as I'm a new father and husband. Dr. Lachica came highly recommended from my friends whose kid currently go to her. As soon as I met her I could tell she was a compassionate and caring doctor. She laid out all my options and was very thoughtful in answering all my questions. I decided to do Invisalign treatment for 16 months. Every appt I went to was very enjoyable to say the least.
