This is an update, thinking it is due after my short comment way back in Covid year 2020. Since then, This office has been a mainstay for me. The dentist, of course, is what brought me here, and that has not changed, as I appreciate his manner, how he educates and informs, how he takes a conservative approach, protecting my mouth from unnecessary procedures. He has the most up to date equipment and he has hired a likable, capable staff, from the receptionist to the hygienists. I have never been over billed, and my insurance is always utilized as it should. read more

I was honestly pretty nervous about going to the dentist, especially since it had been a while and my schedule is all over the place due to frequent travel. But this office completely exceeded my expectations. From the start, they were incredibly accommodating with my crazy travel schedule and found a time that worked for me without any hassle. When I arrived, the front desk staff was polite and welcoming, which helped ease my nerves right away. The hygienist had such a calming and reassuring demeanor (after of course I told her how I am a chicken when it comes to going to the dentist and how one of my friends has been my hygienist FOREVER (but he moved..and I haven't been to the dentist since 7+ months)--I immediately felt more at ease in the chair. Everything was explained clearly and kindly, which I really appreciated. At times I didn't even know she was done doing whatever she was doing she was so gentle, thanks Eillish! The dentist was also fantastic--thorough, professional, and best of all, didn't try to upsell me on anything unnecessary. Just honest care, which is rare to find these days, and super casual....he even made me laugh, which inside of dental office on my first visit is amazing!!! The office itself was clean and comfortable, with a relaxing atmosphere, and parking was super easy (which is always a bonus). Overall, a really positive experience. This dentist nearly ruined my life. He did such a bad job when he did a root canal on me when I was 19 and I spent my 20's and 30''s dealing with sinus infections... and it turned out that Steve had done such a bad job that when I had to have the root canal re-done the oral surgeon said it was the worst work HE HAD EVER SEEN!!!!!!!! read more

Dr. Schneider is the best dentist I've ever had. Both my wife and I have been seeing him for many years for many teeth cleanings and a recent tooth implant. Most recently I had severe (what seemed to be) tooth pain. I had an appointment for the following morning, however, I was having severe pain. I called his office after hours which forwarded my call to his voicemail. He immediately called me back. He prescribed antibiotics (z pack) to a CVS pharmacy. I felt better and saw him the following morning. He took an x ray, examined my teeth with where I was experiencing pain. It turned out I had a sinus infection which can feel like an abcesses (tooth infection). He really cares. Told me many times to not hesitate to call after hours. I can't say enough about Dr. Schneider. I highly recommend. read more

I just started having dental care at this practice. It's really a great place! Ashley the hygienist is kind and detail oriented. The front office staff are welcoming and polite. Dr Schneider is friendly, funny (tho it's hard to laugh with mouth propped open...), and offers explanations of the status and plan for my mouth. I had some fillings done. Quick and painless. I came From a local dental practice that seemed less eager to see me than I was to see them. They almost yawned when I walked in. The care I received was likewise subpar. So. I love going here! Everyone is always so kind and helpful. After so many years it truly feels like visiting friends! I've been able to get rid of most of my fear of the Dentist, and even enjoy my cleanings with Cheryl and Josie! Front desk is very quick to great you and answer all your questions. Dr. Schneider has been my dentist since I was 16. My parents and I refuse to go to anyone else and will drive 2 hours from our respective homes to see him. It's a huge deal for us to have doctors we trust, and Dr. Schneider is one of the best. Dr Schneider is great! And so is his staff. As well as the hygienists - I am fairly new to this office but had my teeth cleaned twice and the hygienists on both occasions were great!The office is awesome with his music paraphernalia and framed signed musician art. He has always been fast and as painless as you can get from your dentist! I love that he is a one stop shop! If you need a root canal and crown he can make it there in the office .. I know this because it happened to me.- you don't have to be referred to someone else you don't know weeks from your current appt walking around with a smelly temporary! Thank you Dr. Schneider! Most people we have a fear of the dentist from super unpleasant experience or experiences- that will not happen here. He explains what he is doing and why and he is fast and you can pause if you need to you can get more numbing juice if you are feeling anything ... the only one thing I wish he had that would make it a near perfect experience ( I mean remember you are laying in the dental chair sooo as perfect as you can get for this situation) was head phones that either played music or hooked up to the TV's he has - we patients hate the sound of the drill but overall 5 experience read more

Dr. Schneider extracted a tooth though not an oral surgeon, and it was prolonged and painful. He attacked the root of the tooth next to it and I had to pay thousands of dollars for an extraction and another implant (hard to put a bridge next to an implant. He should be doing only what he is trained to do. read more

Steve is the best. He's truly kind, professional and loves what he does. I came in for basically an emergency root canal. My mouth was in the worst pain ever. I needed two root canals done and I was TERRIFIED. Steve told me he could get it done right then and there. It was honestly such a pleasant experience. I was so worried about the pain and it ended up being fine. He helped me through it and made it so easy. I already have my next 2 appts and a cleaning scheduled with him! My family lives in San Diego and during a visit home I came to Dr. Schneider to fix a chipped front tooth caused by my running into a door. His offices are beautiful and he is charming and puts you at ease, but the workmanship of the bonding he gave me was extremely poor. I noticed immediately afterward my appointment that there was a small crack in the corner of the bonding but gave him the benefit of the doubt as I figured I was just looking too closely and it was a difficult area to maneuver/create a bonding for as it was close to my other front tooth. I'm not the pickiest client, and I figured it was good enough if you weren't looking too closely. Three months later, the corner completely falls off while I was eating a hot dog. I immediately returned to his office and he fixed it gratis, putting a new corner bonding on over the original bonding he had done. However, after I left, the edge of the new bonding on top of the original could be felt very obviously. Last night, I was flossing and the corner fell out yet again. AVOID! read more

Dr Steven Schneider has been my dentist for 7 years. He is kind,gentle, and so very caring. He is closed on Friday and this morning I broke my retainer and my bottom teeth were exposed. I had a meeting at 10 am and I text him at 8 am to ask if he could meet me so I could not spend a weekend without bottom teeth. He met me at 8:45 and put in a temporary that looks great. I will never be able to thank him enough for saving me on his day off no less. He is the best dentist in the world !!! read more

Dr. Schnieder said I had a small cavity that was so small I might not need novicane. Then after the cavity was filled, I started having jaw pain. He put me on several rounds of antibiotics (the second set without seeing me in the office). The pain continued so he said I needed a root canal. Interestingly there were several patients in the office who needed root canals that day. After the root canal, I still had jaw pain. I went to a specialist who did a through exam (rather than dispencing drugs over the phone), who diagnosed my jaw pain as muscle pain, because I was chewing food only on the left side to avoid pain on the tooth that had the cavity. After I saw this doctor, I wondered if I really needed the root canal as the pain went away after I started chewing normally. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Schnieder for I believe coming up on 15 years. I always drive 40 minutes to see him and I would like you read why I do this. I am actually a doctor myself, and when I was young, I developed a terrible fear of dentists. One of my patients was a dentist, and when I had a horrible tooth infection, my patient the dentist referred me to Schneider. I don't need to give you the details of my fears, but Dr. Schneider has spent the time with me over the last decade and a half that was needed to get me through what was needed. No exaggeration, he has always spent extra time with me when I needed it, sometimes 3X or more what a non scared patient would need. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and willing to explain in as much detail as I wanted, what he was going to do, and what the options were. His fees are extremely fair, and his work extraordinary. Two of my teeth in the front had scarring from drugs I was given as a child. I had been told they were permanent, and that nothing could be done about it. One day after fixing me up, he asked me about them, and why I had not gotten them fixed. I told him the story, and he asked if I would like him to fix it. In disbelief I said yes. Literally 5 minutes later he used one of his high tech techniques, and they were gone. I sobbed like a baby for 10 minutes, because I had been embarrassed by these for 30 years. Without some of the stuff he had done, I would have ended up missing teeth, in excruciating pain, and in some cases even worth. He is one of the people on this planet that I consider the most valuable, and owe him tremendously for the time, energy, and compassion he has put into helping me. read more

I normally come to this place for cleaning but when i decided to get my silver metal filling replace for the white ceramic one thats when stuff went wrong. I started having sensitivity 3 weeks after the filling was put in, so i came back to his office he adjusted my bite but it did not fix the issue so after another 3 weeks I went back to his office again and he recommends that i need a root canal and a cap. Not even recommending redoing the filling. So i decided to get a second opinion and went with another dentist while he was working on my tooth he told me that there is some cavity left on my tooth and the bonding is not sealed properly but he redid the filling and was able to fix the issue. Good thing I went to a different dentist and got a second opinion if not i'll be spending more money on unnecessary procedure if it had been done correctly in the 1st place. More like a mechanic than a dentist. read more

I believe in the science. This dentist is extremely lax with his aseptic and clean dental techniques: First, when I had a root canal done by him a few years ago, the site got infected and my whole chin area got swollen and went numb. This had never happened before with any of my previous root canal procedures done with other dentists in the past. The most disturbing consequence of getting treatment from him is that I firmly believe that he gave me the Epstein-Barr virus! Why is he suspect? It is because it happened this past February during the high point of Covid. I took great care with wearing a mask, avoiding crowds and taking care of my health. Well, I went to him to have a crown, that had fallen off, recemented back on. So, lo and behold I came down with this flu-like illness that lasted about 5 -6 weeks. My primary care doctor tested me for the Epstein-Barr virus and sure enough the result came back positive!!! This particular virus is spread only through infected saliva!! Also the incubation period is 4 to 6 weeks. I checked my dental appointment date and sure enough I had contracted the virus 5 weeks after the appointment. Wow! This lines up exactly! Where else would I have gotten the infected saliva? Not from my husband who always took the necessary precautions. I certainly got more than I bargained for with this dentist! I WILL NEVER, EVER GO TO HIM AGAIN. read more

Do not be fooled by the "voted San Diego's best Dentist". There is no test of the capabilities or the workmanship of the dentist, all is needed is that enough patients vote on a website that they think their dentist is the best! If you see Dr. Schneider, the number of fillings you "should" be doing could double, you might be asked to do a root canal and a crown becasue he messed-up a filling and your tooth is constantly hurting. One of the things that is clearly verifiable is that his staff kept pushing for me to do the cosmetics filling, which I did not. And by the way they make it so easy for you and their finance lady is so quick to speak with you about payment plans etc... Update: 6/13/2017. It has been a few months that we changed Dentist and we realized how much bad work done by Dr. Schneider. As an example, he left a hole in a filling he did that bacteria were going in the tooth and making it worse. Thanks to our current Dentist Dr. Friedman in Scripps Ranch who is doing an amazing job. read more

I have been wondering why the 3rd time best dentist still need to put a coupon in a magazine to attract new patient! Now, I know. My husband came to see him for his routine teeth cleaning. And Dr. Schnieder said the teeth need to be deep cleaning. And we got a huge bill for this. We checked with our metlife insurance, and was told since the doctor's office didn't claim correctly. We have to do back and forth several times to get the correct bill. This isn't the worst part of our experience yet. Later, Dr. Schnieder said there is a small cavity in my husband's teeth needs to be filled. After doing this, my husband got a very very bad pain, and ate several pain killers and still can't sleep, since Dr. Schnieder filled my husband's teeth not good skill, the excessive fill touched my husband's teeth nerve. This pain almost kill my husband. This was the most sever pain my husband ever had. And then, Dr. Schnieder said it need roof canal, he ends up killed my one of my husband's teeth's nerve and made several thousand for doing this. read more

I gave 5/5 stars. If I could have given 10 stars I would have done so. To sum it up... My daughter chipped her front tooth. I did not want to take her to our regular dentist because I needed the best. I heard that Steven Schneider was voted best cosmetic dentist in San Diego, so I called his office for an emergency appointment. He was arranged to fit me in the same day because of the importance of this issue. - Result: I can't tell which tooth was chipped. Her tooth looks perfect. - Bedside manner - He is the best. His work isn't bad, and he has a good personality, takes time to explain things to you and doesn't get offended when you ask tough questions. Having said that he NEVER wore a mask, ever throughout the 4 times I saw him. Was breathing garlic breath down my throat with my mouth open, and at several points I felt his spit drops hit the side of my mouth, probably got inside my mouth too. How can an accomplished dentist like this not know basic dentist etiquette and hygiene? Pretty shocking if you ask me! Gross. Not going back because of it. read more

I called Dr. Steve at 7:00 this morning and he got me right in for a root canal :-( No fun... but at least I get to look at the over-the-top cool display of musical memorabilia and I am ALWAYS greeted with a friendly smile and face. I drive 25 miles just to go to him and will continue to see him for the rest of the time I get dental work. I started going to him about 4 years ago and he has done my veneers (which have changed my life), and all my medically necessary dental work. He let me make payments to him too. Dr. Schneider has been my dentist since I moved here in 2005. He is so awesome and his entire dental staff are so friendly and do great work. Just went in for a cleaning and a filling yesterday and was in and out super fast. Dr Schneider is fast, gentle and so very considerate. His work is superb. Everyone on his staff is very friendly and professional. I never wait more than a few minutes. His office is decorated beautifully with lots of rock and roll memorabilia. There are flat screen TV's in all the offices and the lobby. You can watch whatever you want when you are in the chair. I have been a patient for about 5 years and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Schneider and his staff. Before I started going to him, I was spending a fortune on my teeth. Honestly every time went to the dentist something was wrong - since I have been seeing Dr. Schneider there have not been any issues. The staff is also extremely helpful. I saw a few bad reviews on here due to insurance billing, etc. Honestly I have not experienced anything like this. Beware. There is a reason there are negative reviews and mine is no different. Expensive and need to be your own advocate for what you really need done. Nice guy, nice staff, cool office but in my opinion routine cleanings turned into fishing expedition for additional dentistry work. Routine checkups after cleaning yielded fillings that "needed replacing". Twice after replacing fillings that were not bothering me within a week I needed root canals and crowns. It could have been a coincidence but in my opinion I don't think so. I no longer go to this office. I had a billing dispute that was handled very unprofessionally and I was not properly given a discount that I was promised when I first started seeing him in 2007. Long story short, after I audited my years of bills (I'm an accountant) I discovered I was owed a refund, not that I owed him. When I asked for the refund and said I will give him negative reviews on social media he warned me about slander. Well it isn't slander if it is the truth, that is a fact. read more

Please don't believe the best dentist in SD - read the reviews about poor quality work band believe them. He convinced me to replace ~8 fillings 9 months ago and I have been in agony ever since. He rushed thought the work and clearly didn't do it correctly. I actually drove to Phoenix to see my old dentist to try and figure out what was going on and she basically informed me that the bonding wasn't done correctly, probably rushed, and that the only recourse would be to have all the fillings replaced again. Oh and to top things off he charged me twice what was quoted. read more

This guy is a wolf in sheep's clothing! He is calculating, cunning and a conniver! I went to him for two crowns -- and paid cash! Very foolish indeed! Once the two crowns were placed I went to eat lunch at Denny's and realized that my occlusion (bite) was severely out of whack. He finally came to the phone after an interminable wait and said "to give it a few days." Yeah, right. The pain continued, and I finally got an appointment 3 days later. Get this: He proceeded to touch several crowns and THOROUGHLY screwed up the occlusion. He refused to see me after that, even though I explained everything but he would not refund the money nor console me even in the slightest. Cold, calculating, cunning... Try CRUEL also. I implore you not to see him. He is vastly overrated, but make sure to read ALL of the reviews and you'll see that more that one person concurred with me. I'm 56 years old, and it was the WORST experience of my life. This review expiates just a portion of my anger, although the punching bag does help! read more

For me to give a dentist ANY stars is a miracle in itself. I HATE going to the dentist. I'd rather do my taxes every single day of the year than go to the dentist. Why? I am a chicken. Long back story that I won't bother to bore you with....so why am I giving Dr. Schneider FIVE STARS??!!! Well, I have to admit, it's not just him. His staff is nothing short of AMAZING. I love Dr. Steve and his whole office staff! Everyone who works there is kind, compassionate, and wonderful! He has never been anything but warm and understanding as I am terrified of Novocain and having fillings put in. His nurse holds my hand and they all make me feel a little less foolish! I have been coming here for a few years now. They are very nice friendly. I have had horrible experiences with dentists before and he has been very nice. I know that everyone has their own experiences good or bad with dentists. For me, I felt like he doesn't rip you off (I have been to a few of those), he tells you like it is (I have had some that flat out lied to get more money), and he doesn't force work (I have had some that will just push all the work in one day). So, for the sevice, and my mental state; he works for me. A dentist is like a good mechanic, once you find one do not go anywhere else. I have noticed some reviews on here about cavities that turned into root canals. There is never a "for sure" that extra work will not be needed. If you go in for a root canal or work, you should always read the disclaimers. It clearly states that you may fracture your root canal or that you may need more. Nothing in the medical world is 100 %. I have had a root canal done by one of the best oral surgeons in the United States and by THIS doctor. BOTH are equally as good, but he was a lot less costly. Overall, I will Continue to come back here for as long as I am in the states. read more
