My initial experience with Sam, the nurse practitioner, and the physician assistant was very pleasant. They were warm, professional, and made me feel optimistic that I had found a family practice where I could establish long-term care. Unfortunately, my experience changed after my laboratory results became available. A receptionist named Britney called me and immediately began discussing my results without first asking whether I was in a private place or prepared to receive medical information. I was at work and had to interrupt her and ask her to wait while I moved somewhere private. I had assumed she was calling only to schedule a follow-up appointment. I believe staff members discussing medical information should always confirm that the patient is able to speak privately before sharing results. When I returned for my follow-up appointment, there also appeared to be some confusion at the front desk. Although I had confirmed my appointment the previous day, the doctor stated that he had not known I was coming and had taken another patient before me. He apologized, but the delay made me late for work. Once I was called back, the process felt rushed. I was quickly directed onto the scale and then placed in a room with a medical student. I was not asked whether I was comfortable having a student participate in my appointment. The student repeatedly described my hormonal status in a way that did not match what I had previously been told, and our discussion about vitamin D supplementation felt dismissive rather than collaborative. I was also uncomfortable with the student shifting and rocking from side to side in my peripheral vision while the doctor discussed some concerning health information. That made an already stressful conversation more difficult. Later, when the doctor returned and spoke with me privately, the interaction was much more comfortable. He was pleasant, made eye contact, explained things more clearly, and ultimately did a good job addressing my concerns. I wish the receptionist had demonstrated a better understanding of patient privacy, that I had been asked for consent before a medical student joined the appointment, and that the visit had not felt so rushed. Staffing problems, scheduling confusion, and the absence of a manager may explain why the office was having a difficult day, but patients should not have to absorb the consequences. Overall, the doctor handled the appointment well toward the end, and my first visit with the other clinical staff had been positive. I spent considerable time researching family-practice physicians because I hoped to establish ongoing care here. For that reason, I am willing to give the doctor and the office another chance before deciding whether this practice is the right fit for me.

Taelor is an incredible professional who genuinely cares about her patients. She has the perfect ability to be kind and suggestive while, at times, revealing her inter "Biggest Loser Coach" side, which I needed to keep me motivated and accountable. I started my health journey at 525 pounds. When Taelor began working with me, I was at approximately 410 pounds. Today, I can share that I have broken into the 200s. I did the work with her expert guidance, and I cannot thank her enough! This entire group and all staff are amazing. To the Rosaasens: thank you for finding such a gem. It really got me so I felt compelled to leave my own review. I started seeing Dr. Koe when I was 32 years old (almost 30 years ago!!), and he did a thorough examination on me and based upon some wonky blood work, he "hound-dog, deep dived" into diagnosing me and got me referred out to a specialist to manage a severely, possibly fatal, disease that I had no knowledge that I had. I am disease free because of this man. Yes he referred me out. He is an INTERNIST, a family doctor. Not a specialist. If you need specialty care, he triages and sends you to the appropriate specialist. In order to do that, he has to share information with your health plan, or the other specialist. One of the referrals i read talks about him sharing information with insurance companies. Clearly they know NOTHING about how physicians contract with health plans, in order to get paid for services, and the information they are required by law to produce. It is mandatory, not subjective per patient whim. If you use your insurance to pay for services, doctors have a legal obligation to share that information with the healthplan. Expect that. Blaming Dr. Koe for industry standards that all physicians must comply with, is extremely naive and uninformed. My entire family sees doctor Koe. My husband, my daughters since they were little. They are now married, and they have even brought their spouses to him. I refer patients to him. My ex-husband LOL. Last year, I was diagnosed with what i thought was a benign tumor on my thyroid. I poo-pooed it, but at Dr. Koe's urging, follow up, and prompt referral to both an ENT and the specialized screening group, i was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. Again, Dr. Koe saved my life. I had my thyroid removed and was lucky enough that it was caught early. Again, due to the wonderful caring and management of my health by Dr. Koe. Dr. Koe is a very kind, wonderful, laid back person, without a mean bone in his body, who would never discriminate against anyone. If for some reason he suspects you have not been forthcoming with him, or he believes you are fibbing or hiding something, he will definitely give you some straight talk and maybe he isn't as laid back as someone would like to believe. This is a smallish office, with a real family vibe. It is personalized care, and time spent with the patient. If you are looking for a family doctor who will manage your level one care, and triage to specialists, and be your ground zero care stop, this is your doctor. He is a genuinely caring person, who also happens to be a super great doctor.

That she is going concierge. She wasn't overly warm, but she was clear, professional, and approachable. Over the past year, though, my experience has shifted, and based on other reviews, it seems I'm not alone. About a year ago, she stopped accepting my insurance. I chose to continue care and pay out of pocket ($250 per visit) because I valued our established relationship. That felt worthwhile, until this recent experience. I called ahead to let the office know I would be 3-5 minutes late, thinking it was the respectful thing to do. During that call, I was informed for the first time of a new late policy: if you are late, you won't be seen, and if you reschedule, there's a $50 charge. This policy had never been communicated to me previously, nor had I signed anything acknowledging it. I expressed that I understood I was late and was completely willing to accept a shortened appointment, whether that meant a few minutes in person or even a quick phone call. I was trying to be flexible and respectful of her time. Unfortunately, Dr. Perez declined all options, including speaking with me briefly by phone. When I arrived, about five minutes late, I remained in the office during what would have been my scheduled appointment time. Dr. Perez moved in and out of a room nearby but did not acknowledge me, make eye contact, or offer any explanation or empathy. After three years as a patient, that lack of basic communication and care was honestly the most upsetting part. Because of that experience, I won't be returning. This wasn't about a policy; it was about how I was treated in that moment.

Over the last few years however, the experience has just gotten worse and worse. They are extremely strict about being late (by even a minute or two. I wish I was exaggerating). I am always punctual but I had a family member who was only 5 minutes late and they cancelled the appointment. Appointment scheduling also takes months, even if there is something serious going on. The last straw was me going to the pharmacist to pick up monthly medicine I need to take and being told that my Dr Perez refused to renew my prescription (even though I need to take this medicine) and left a note for the pharmacy saying she needs to come in for an appointment. The irony in this is that I had an upcoming appointment scheduled on the books (which also I had to schedule 3-4 months out) with her already. So she clearly had not talked with her staff or they hadn't communicated with her before she did this. And even if I didn't have an appointment scheduled, refusing to renew someone's prescription of medicine they NEED is just so unethical in my opinion and feels like some way of forcing someone to come in so you can charge them. As time went on I just started to feel anxiety dealing with her or her office and that is not the kind of care I want. I also felt kind of dismissed when i suggested potential specialists I could see as well. Anyways, just overall, she might be a competent doctor but her and her office are unwelcoming and harsh! And I think care should be both competent, kind and respectful.
