I was so lucky they take walk ins and I had no insurance then so I paid such an affordable amount. Dr Wong was so patient and got a great humor. We no longer have to Dr. Wong bc he thinks far too highly of himself. I asked about a root canal my husband was about to get from him and he wasn't happy about it. I don't think medical and dental professionals are gods like some of them think they are (even if subconsciously). If you can't handle a few questions about what's going on with my or my family's teeth bc you think you're the final authority just bc of the letters behind your name, you're not a good dentist and I'm going to take my business elsewhere, you work for me, I don't work for you. Believe me when I say I really, really, really... Really, really wanted to give this place 5 stars, however I am so disappointed with the run around here. I called last week on an unfinished/untouched root canal to get a price estimate since I've read one Yelp review, claiming that Dr. Wong charges 1/3 the price compared to other spots, being a college student that I am - I called to get an estimate, the girl on the phone told me it would costs around $800-$850 for the tooth I was wanting, so of course I was ecstatic about that & asked if I could be waitlisted since he was booked up until May. She did so, called me the next day but I was unable to come in due to midterms. Monday, I called again & did the same thing. She ended up calling me back giving me only 30 minutes to get there saying there was an opening, luckily I was around the area & got there in 5 minutes. I was told that it was just a "check up", meaning to make sure it was the correct tooth I was pointing out. I already knew which tooth it was because I've been seen already at a few dentists, but they still wanted to "make sure", so I said "okay", & waited 15 minutes. After, I was seen by Dr. Wong who had told me he was unable to do the root canal himself, and it was the tooth that I was saying needed one (obviously).He spent less than 5 minutes with me & charged me $30 for a piece of paper that referred me to another "Wong" office down the street!!! $30 freakin' dollars for what?! For a piece of paper saying that I needed a root canal on a tooth that I already know needed one??? If that was the case, they should've just told me to call a different office because the dentist at this one is incapable of doing so! It would've saved me time & money! (yes, $30 is a lot to me. He offers basic dental services and accepts many insurance policies. The facility is small and old, but it is clean and comfortable. Needed a second opinion about one tooth of mine. I was referred to this place by my BIL. So glad I did! The gal at the front desk was nice and friendly. I had to fill out insurance paperwork and thank goodness it was only two pages! Other Dentist places had me fill out tons of paperwork just for consultation. Parking lot was small, not much parking spots at all (like maybe 8 spots). From the outside, it looks nothing a like a dentist office, very old building. They have a really small lobby area, but other than that, I had no other issues. I met with Dr. Wong, his personality made this trip well worth it! He was engaging, friendly, humorous, energetic, and sincere! Can't find much dentists like this around town! He told me what he could do with my tooth and suggested that I needed a crown, but he did not push me nor rush me into getting one. He wanted to try other methods first before suggesting I needed a crown right away! I've been to two other Dentist, both suggested that I needed a crown right away and not to wait any longer! His cost was much less compared with another dentist, my original dentist was charging over $400 for a crown! I am glad that I got another second opinion on my tooth! He made me felt at ease about my decision. I am going to wait on this crown. He made some small adjustments to my tooth, so that I am comfortable enough to deal with it in the meantime. I have been meaning to write a review for this dental practice & I have to say 5 starts all the way! Let me tell you... I hate the dentist and I know it's bad but I haven't been to the dentist in years and I believe a few months ago I've gotten my first tooth extraction from Dr. Wong. He is hands down amazing. Since I was a kid, I hated the dentist and was always afraid but Dr. Wong made me feel more comfortable and less scared. He explained the tooth extraction process to me before starting. He's also very cheerful and talkative which makes me feel at ease. I am planning to come back to him soon because I don't know where else would be just as great and I also thought the extraction was quite affordable as well. Alrighty...I've been wanting to review this dentist for some time, but thought it would be prudent to wait until I went for a second visit. Here it is (deep wooshing noise as I suck in air)... 1st visit: I've had problems with dentists in the past (see some of my other reviews), and after doing a search here on Yelp I found Dr. Wong. Based off of the high ratings I made my appointment, which ended up being on a Saturday. Side note to self: NEVER MAKE A SATURDAY MORNING APPOINTMENT!! Ahem, excuse me. I had a few drinks the night before and had a devil of a time finding the place. The parking lot is small and hard to navigate with a truck. I would suggest parking on the street. Had the routine x rays, (why do they make those things with sharp corners?), then spent the rest of the time on a routine cleaning. Dr. Wong is a chatty fellow, however it is difficult to carry on a conversation with random objects being jabbed into your mouth. Had some potential cavities and had to schedule another appointment. 2nd visit.: Very nice receptionist (Heather? Megan?) squeezed me in before the holidays as my cavities were getting painful. To make a long story short, Dr. Wong fixed me up good, He had no problems answering any and all questions, and I found I had more of an appreciation for his sense of humor this time around. I'm disappointed to have to write this review but....On July 19th I called and left a message inquiring if they are accepting new patients and I was hoping to receive a call back to determine what types of insurance they accept let alone ask some questions. Well, almost a week later, I receive a text message from the office asking if I'd like schedule an appointment for the next day. Nice ppl, but went so fast on my fillings, that he left decay inside, so i had one filling fall out and the other broke. Both looked fine from the outside. I Had a good dentist have a look and he was shocked, saying that whoever did the work should fix this for free. Even Dr. Wongs own tech that was sealing my teeth after his work said he went too fast. We are a family of five including three grown children who have all been going to Dr. Wong for about 8 years. Two of those children have moved away and still go to Dr. Wong for dental care when they come home for a visit a few times a year. The third son's wife is now on board and the grandson is going to be there for his first dentist appointment very soon. With those many mouths, we've had just about every kind of dental treatment over the years. I don't know if the cost is reasonable because it's hard to gauge how much it is worth to have someone be able to do this delicate type of work and literally leave his patients smiling. Doctor Wong is great. He is friendly, he is fast, and he is passionate about his work. The office is not fancy...he charges a fair price and doesn't charge all sorts of extra stuff to pay for a giant fish tank or fancy furnishings. He is occasionally a little behind schedule because he takes emergency cases whenever he can, and I know he did one for me once and I was very grateful. So if I have to wait an extra 5 or 10 minutes, it's likely because someone was really hurting. The point is, he is an honest and friendly guy. He does great work. he does what you need to be healthy and not a bunch of junk you don't need. His prices are reasonable, the staff is great. I highly recommend him. read more

Very nice friendly dentist likes to joke around. He did a great job extracting my 2nd molar that was curved and difficult.he tried to be nice to me and calm me down......he does quality work. I have some concerns though....his needle shots seem very painful and rough more than other dentists. So if you have a fear of needles he may not be for you. The second time I went for a simple filling.. he drilled my tooth without offering a shot..I told him it hurting and he said "that it must be psychological that even a kid could take this"..I found that also very unprofessional..no modern dentistry should have to be painful. He did great job filling the side of tooth though...quality work. I've been here twice. The first time, I waited an extra 30 minutes for my appointment. No apologies, but several mentions of being very busy (from the staff and Dr. Wong). The second time, they lost my appointment. Thankfully they squeezed me in, but sucks for whoever was after me. Both times Dr. Wong scrapped my gums so roughly during the cleaning that I flinched. I actually said, "Ow." Having had four dentists in the past 8 years (I've moved quite a bit), I've never experienced this before. He also hums and stops cleaning to make small talk (ie, questions about my weekend plans, etc). This happened about 3-4 times. I finally had to stop responding (even with monosyllabic/close-ended responses, mind you) - for him to stop the questions. Again, I've never experienced this with any dentist (or healthcare professional). There is a time and place for building rapport--like when I'm first entering the office, or leaving. Even so, I'm much more impressed by a swift, professional, and efficient cleaning. This was not what I received on both visits. I won't be back. *On the 2nd visit, they also didn't tell me that they no longer took my insurance until I got there. read more

He was extremely personable, professional, thorough, and sensitive to my concerns. From my experience, he is easily the best doctor (of any kind) I've ever had. I have been meaning to write a review for Dr. Wong ever since my first visit, so here we go! At the moment I have a total of about 20 fillings in my 27 yr old mouth, and not due to lack of care, but I have had a hard go with dentists and every time I go to a new office I nearly have a heart attack. I have had my teeth screwed up a few times in the past with staining left behind, sensitivity, fillings that cracked almost immediately. Dr. Wong has given me new faith in dentists. I also want to mention that I have worked for both an Orthodontist in Sacto and a general dentist. Both experiences taught me a lot about the field, and I know what to look for in a good, clean office, and what to avoid. When I first went to this office I was a little put off by the decor, but that concern very quickly dissipated. The office lacks in aesthetic concern, but the dentistry does not. This team puts their money where it matters, into equipment and into top notch staff. The staff at this office know what they are doing, even though they might come off as casual and carefree. The vibe puts me at ease and allows me to actually enjoy the experience, rather than dread it. There is never an argument about money here, or any pressure to have Unnecessary treatment. I was told by two dentist previously that I had recession and severe periodontal disease which required deep cleanings. I got my initial exam and cleaning from Dr. Wong and he said there was no way someone as young as me, with healthy looking gums had those issues. He probed my pocket depths and he was right. I was healthy as could be, aside from decay. I went back two times to get fillings since and both times have been a pleasure. I was sad to leave this time, as I have had all my restorative work done for the time being. Dr. Wong himself is much younger than I expected. He is not lacking in experience or expertise, though. He is certainly a perfectionist and it shows in the quality of his work. His assistant's don't say a whole lot, but they help him get the job done, and what a nice job it is! This is a dentist who loves what he does (gushes about it constantly!) and who is down to earth and chatty. He does talk to your teeth, but you get used to that pretty quick, and before you know it, the work is done. The only complaint I would have would be occasional wait times. He is passionate about teeth, so he doesn't turn down ailing patients, so at times the wait is longer than expected. Other times, no wait at all. Just plan ahead for this (its worth the wait). The location is also kind of funky with hidden parking around the side, but not much out front. My only suggestion for this office aside from this would be to scope out ikea for some new artwork for the walls and some new furniture (just small things) which would add a lot to the experience. FABULOUS!!!! I just came from an appointment with Dr. Wong, and I have to say that I love this dentist! He's wonderfully chatty, honest about flossy and OCD...for a dentist, that's an awesome quality. He checked my teeth 3 times........... He's also...FRIGGIN HILARIOUS! Yes, he's the only dentist in the office, so the wait is a little long, but not horrible...late by 15 minutes. I've had worse! But, believe me, this place was worth it because it was the best cleaning I've ever had! The staff is very friendly...freebies afterwards! Dr. Wong is by far one of the best dentist I have ever dealt with. I was there for a general cleaning, but upon checking my teeth, he said I need a deep cleaning and that they are unable to do that day due to time constraints. He also said he can probably do it but he wouldn't feel right rushing through a patient. He made a comment that fillings done by my previous dentist was questionable because it has changed color and it could have been done better cosmetic wise (I was kind of piss because I was always questioning my previous dentist before and always felt like I've been overpaying her. What he said just confirms her shoddy workmanship). I mentioned that my jaw has been hurting due to TMJ and I have a mouth guard but not quite sure what to do with it, he told me to bring it on my next visit. On my next visit 2 weeks later, without even mentioning it, he asked if I brought in the mouth guard to show him. I cannot believe he remembers! He said my mouth guard is okay and is most likely not going to fit me, so he offered to do a custom one for me for $50 but did not pressure me to buy it at all. Since it was a deep cleaning I was expecting the worse since I've had them done before. Let me tell ya, it was the best non-painful deep cleaning I have EVER had! I know I have been seriously lacking in dental hygiene, but he never for a moment made me feel bad. He just keep saying I "need improvement." Sure, his office can use some updating, but who gives a damn when the dentist is that good! No wonder he always have at least 5-6 patients waiting for him. You can't go wrong with Dr. Wong! This guy is young but he knows is stuff AND INTERROGATES YOUR TEETH until ALL cavities are gone. All his equipment is up to date and state of the art. He's personality makes my teeth shine =). He is a nice guy and likes to talk about a lot of things (He is a computer nerd at heart). He takes about his college life and how he does mods to his computer. Whenever I go there, I'm not scared of anything. Its actually enjoyable having him check my teeth. The COOL thing that I like is the XRAYs. The equipment is cheaper since its digital. It also means that if there's a mix up in the XRAY, it won't cost you more money. After a XRAY, the picture comes up in the screen in seconds. You can see your GRILL perfectly on the screen. Another nice thing is that everything is clean. EVERYTHING. After every checkup, he gives you a toothbrush and some floss =). Open EVERYDAY of the week. I would DEFINITELY recommend this to everyone. I've seen Dr. Wong several times this year for a variety of issues and I've been impressed every single time. The problem with most dentist's in my opinion is that you feel like you can't trust them with your teeth. They tell you that you have a problem and you have to just go with it since you yourself are not a dentist. He has not had teeth in many, many years. His teeth were broken,missing and rotten now he will have a new set and this is all thanks to Dr. Wong and his helpful staff that is training with him now. So if you are in need of a great, high quality dentist with low costs (compare his to other dentists) cause I did and he is about only a quarter of the price of other dentists for the same services. So glad I came through Dr Wong's yelp page . I had an infection from my gum disease and had went to another dentist in greenhaven and when they gave me the total cost for my "deep cleaning" for four quadrants the total was around $1100 . Saw this page so I called and ask and it was only $520 for four quadrants . My goodness what a price difference right omg. So happy I was able to schedule an appointment for my deep cleaning the next day but they only had time to do my Lower mouth which was fine because that's where the infection was . I was super nervous when I came to the office . My god I can't remember the last time I stepped foot into a dentist office . I read all the yelp reviews so I kinda knew what I was expecting of dr Wong and yeah he is one cheerful guy which made me less nervous . The deep cleaning wasn't so bad . My first visit with Dr. Wong for cleaning and X-rays. Awesome! I am very apprehensive when it comes to dentist visits and the environment. But I liked Dr. Wong and his assistant. He was very easy to talk to. Typically dentist visits can be intimidating only because they know your faults. It's so personal having someone look inside your beer tackle. Anyway, very relaxed...he will talk, which eases my anxiety. I'd rather have a talkative dentist than someone who is mum. In this situation, I like it when doctors talk! He graduated from USC! Very smart. Very capable. He will put you at ease. His assistant is also very capable and pro and efficient just like Dr. Wong. I like all his dental doctor jargon. You're learning as well as being cleaned. He's very clear and direct about your teeth, too, which I like. He tells me what I can do right. BEST DENTIST EVER. No ... Seriously no exaggeration. I went to see Dr. Wong after driving down the road and experiencing tooth pain. I was hesitant about seeing a new dr but soon after arriving to his office thereceptionist made me feel comfortable in the waiting area. The new patient paperwork wasn't a large stack of papers like some offices. Once I was taken in the back for X-rays Dr Wong came in smiling and concerned with my pain. He checked on my mouth and comically diagnosed me and said he could take care of it right then.
